Different algorithm needed for calories burned on exercise bike

When using an exercise bike that isn’t going anywhere and arms are not moving the algorithm used to calculate calories burned is 2x to 3x lower than what the exercise bike is reporting. Note that the exercise bike app knows my height weight age, heart rate monitored continuously and how fast I’m pedaling and against what resistance I’m pedaling.
