Early Warning & SOS Alerts for Heart Attacks (or other health issues)

HeartAttack.png

Research indicates (refer to links below) that it is possible to detect potential Heart Attack based on Heart Rate and Heart Rate zones. Fitbit watches constantly monitor heart rate and theoretically it should be possible to detect potential heart attack based on abnormal heart rate and resting heart rate's trend.

  1. Emergency SOS: Fitbit device should trigger alert on paired mobile phone which sends out a SOS message along with geo-location to pre-configured address to ensure timely medical assistance.
  2. Preventive Alert: Fitbit should alert the user if it sense potential Heart Attack based on current & resting heart rate patterns or change to a different heart rate zone.

@DavideFitbit my apologies! I didn't see it when I did my initial search to see if the suggestion has already been made. Thank you for moving it.

Many folks would like to have a warning if their heart rate is too high, it would be excellent if there was such a feature, especially for those with heart issues. I think companies don't want the culpability (or the regulation) of the medical device mfg. community, but FitBit could easily do this, and it would help.

I have seen posts for FitBits for the elderly or infirm, and features like notifications for low/high heart rates, long term data on how sedentary folks are or heart rate or sleep would be tremendously helpful.

A FitBit that just connected to WiFi would also alleviate the need for a close proximity cell phone, and could be used in nursing homes, for live-in parents, or folks who want to live alone but need an extra eye every now and then when things go wrong.

Make this device! (And send me and my family part of the profit!)

4 years since the suggestion... yet none of the trackers have this options 😐

Because none of the travelers have been certified by the FTC for this. 4 years ago the technology needed did not even exist, and it is only into Fitbit OS came out that it might be possible.

We would be asking Fitbit to look at blood flow in the wrist and tell us what the electrical signals going to the heart look like.

no feature yet where the device will alarm if heart rate data reaches high or low level, I mean people die in their sleep. have it so you set the alarm on the internet and the alarm goes out to 10 numbers that you pick, then a voice call from the device comes on cause you may not be able to speak. so the watch does it for you.
Temp would be cool tool.
I mean their is no watch for seniors.
Yet at the same time it does not matter weather it should be for seniors or not, everyone is at risk at one point to die.

and the alarm should be on every  watch.

This would not be something that could just be added, but like the SpO2 sensor needs approval, maybe in each country before it could be turned on.

But how would the tracker determine a heart attack. You could not go by lack of heart rate since many have found nights with large gaps in their reading.

As for I high level, their was a recent beta test for this.

far off to predict a heart attack but you can senor it if heart gets too high or too low. and then is set manually.

Yes. You don't have to call it a "heart attack" warning.

Just let the user nominate a min and max value to count as "normal", and trigger an alarm if it goes outside that range.

I think this may save lives. I want Fitbit to make a heart rate monitor, with GPS, that can sound an alarm to emergency services if the heart rate gets too low or stops. This device needs an 8-12 hour battery. This could also notify a family member, who could call the person to check up, before emergency services are called, to not waist resources.

Hi @BrianThompsons, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to use early warning and SOS alerts for heart attacks. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

I sort of started this thread about the heart rate a awhile back. I see that you are coming out with Versa3 that will be able to do some of the things needed. I was just hoping it would be more affordable.I have the Versa 2 and I had to do it in payments to afford it. Plus you charge extra for the added items

My Garmin had an alert which I could set - in my case if my heart rate is above 110 on my resting moment - and it would alert me. Very good and I would clearly be informed when I was getting stressed in a meeting. Was very useful. I don't have that on Charge 4. When is this going to be implemented?

I would like to like fitbit to notify me when my heart rate gets to a selected BPM.

For the Sense, provide notification for irregular heart beat in addition to low and high heart beat.

The ability to set it to vibrate when heart rate goes above a set level without being in exercise modes. This needs to be customisable so you can set your own level and preferably have a setting to alarm until the heart rate drops again.

I would like to be able to set a heart rate zone and have my FitBit vibrate whenever my heart rate leaves that zone. I would use this all day (not just during exercise) to warn myself if my heart rate is above a pre-determined level.

Too bad it is not even under consideration yet.

- detects if there’s something wrong (Dangerous BP levels, heart stops) and gets ahold of 911
- starts with a warning/vibration in case it’s just sitting on the wrist wrong
- attach an emergency contact
- can track your heart rate, when you sleep, and even if it’s not on your wrist
-Better than life alert, there’s no button to push accidentally
