Early Warning & SOS Alerts for Heart Attacks (or other health issues)

HeartAttack.png

Research indicates (refer to links below) that it is possible to detect potential Heart Attack based on Heart Rate and Heart Rate zones. Fitbit watches constantly monitor heart rate and theoretically it should be possible to detect potential heart attack based on abnormal heart rate and resting heart rate's trend.

  1. Emergency SOS: Fitbit device should trigger alert on paired mobile phone which sends out a SOS message along with geo-location to pre-configured address to ensure timely medical assistance.
  2. Preventive Alert: Fitbit should alert the user if it sense potential Heart Attack based on current & resting heart rate patterns or change to a different heart rate zone.

Such a great idea!

I would love this option. I am a cardiac arrest survivor and I work out regularly. My heart rate and another cradia arrest are always top of mind. Potential warning would be a game changer.

Fit Bit might be reluctant to implement such a feature because of false positives/negatives, which is totally understandable.

This is why this feature should be opt-in for those who have known heart issues.  Anyone who wants to use it and fully accepts the fact that it won't be perfect, should be able to use it

Yes I agree with the opt in.
But most of the apps are already on that basis.

Add an SOS icon that if selected sends an emergency alert/call w/ location to a designated person and/or 911. Plus using the various metrics already avble, if the device can be programmed to recognize the signs of someone experiencing medical distress for a designated period of time, then send an automatic SOS alert. GPS would have to be enabled.

Hi @ACDS, thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion about adding the option to send SOS messages automatically when Fitbit detects someone is experiencing a medical distress. I've moved it into a similar request. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs. Click on the thumbs-up to show your support.
