Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

Exactly this reset at midnight only reduced my ability to enjoy Fitbit and I cannot recommend a flawed product to others

I go to bed a few hours after midnight which means that when I wake up, I already have couple thousand steps on my step counter. It would be great if I can change the time of day when the stats reset without changing my time zone.

For example, instead of the stats resetting at 12am, it would reset at 6am instead.

I would like to suggest that the role over time for the end of day be customizable. For example I work at a bar so i wake up later than most people as well as bar close in Alaska is 2:30 A.M. Which means that many times before I go to bed I already have a couple thousand steps. This would assist people who work odd hours better actually keep track of their steps and exercise.

I'd like to add my voice also. Nocturnal. My day extends well beyond midnight. It would be nice if my step totals reflected the entire time I was awake.

I just got my fit bit,  and I'm really disappointed that it doesn't take people who work second and third shift into consideration when it comes to the reset times. I'll never reach my step goals this way.

This is my biggest complaint so far. Shouldn’t be a hard fix either, could probably change it with an app update. Just let us set our activity reminder times for times that’s run through 0000. Please & thank you!

Agreed changing time zone is not a solution it is an insult! Then the time is always wrong! Anyone know of another product that might work Fitbit is non responsive to needs!

If you happen to find one that works with night shift I would definitely be
interested!

So there have been countless threads created, thousands of comments, and thousands of upvotes just like we have been told to do and still there has been nothing done about this. So third shifters are just obsolete? The nurses? The doctors? The police and security as well as other graveyard workers? Wow Fitbit you really think highly of your costumers who are paying for your overpriced items already but can’t do what it needs to do.

For me this has never really been a problem, I work from 6pm to 5am. Big deal I still have the same 24 hours to get my steps in. My sleep is simply shifted.

But for challenges since I'm mostly invited to one's on the other side of the world, hey I'm in sync with them.

If this wasn't a problem for you why did you respond to this thread?

Just because it isn't a problem for you doesn't mean that its not an issue for thousands of other people. I'm not going to shift my time just for the steps because then my watch would be wrong and I shouldn't have to keep track of my steps when time rolls over because thats why we all bought the tracker in the first place, to keep track of our steps. Not all of us have people in different time zones that we compete with. Your comment has no place in this thread because apparently it doesn't pertain to you.

Setting the start time of a day woukd be an awesome feature! I'm a night shift worker with varying start times, (and anxiously waiting for the mailman to deliver my Charge 2) so I don't know how things will be displayed. I actually came to this page because I couldn't figure out how to change the start of my "day".

Seems silly that this isn't a feature yet.

Yes please. I work most nights 11 pm to 5am. Its really wrong that I'm really not able to use the activity reminder feature since I had the short sightedness to work 3rd shift. Seriously, why does the app eve care if I want a reminder to start one day and finish the next? My work computers manage it just fine. Google calendar manages my schedule for me without my even telling it the shift goes to the next day, it understands that after 11:59 you enter the next day.

This is lazy programming that really disappointed me as a new user.

Let's see a Monday night and you take 14k steps before midnight and a on other 14 k after midnight.

On Tuesday you do the same. 14k before and another 14 k after.

How many steps did you take on Monday? Hint 28k

I'm not talking about the step tracker, I'm talking about the activity reminder. I shouldn't have to spend extra time fiddling with it just because I'm a night shift person, and the app can't figure out how one day turns into another.

I know I'm doing the whole unfair thing, but it is unfair. If I worked days, no problem...once and forget it. But nights, I have to set it twice a day, every day???

I can only make my case and hope fitbit pays attention to a real failure in the programming.

Funny I don't see the word sleep in my post.

Of course the better thing would have been to actually do the requested search.

We have a request to change the time of day reset

Allow nightshift reminder to move

Allow non consecutive hours

Adaptable reminders to move

I don't remember sleep either. No reason to be rude. I did do a search, this is what I found and I just commented and voted.

When you do not have the 'regular' sleep / work hours (going to sleep before midnight) your 'real' days are splitted in 2 by the app.

If I wake up at 11 am, work or stay awake till 3 am then go to bed my "fitbit day" it shows me:

- midnight till 3 am from previous day

- sleep from 3 till 11

- 11 till midnight of actual day

- I miss midnight to 3 am actual day

In fact it is a lot worst because I have days that can vary from 20 to 28 hours more or less...

As you detect sleep time you should allow a setting for auto-detection: your day starts when you wake up and stop when you go to bed. Then you have a correct and accurate detction of your full day activity

I don't want the day to start over at midnight because I'd like to know how much walking is done in a work day (I leave for work at 3 pm and get home around 3 am).  Support suggested changing the time zone, but then the watch would display wrong time.  I would like to be able to tell my Ionic to start a new day say, at 4 am vs midnight.

I wake up at 1900 and go to bed the next day at 1000am. I hate how everything resets at midnight. There should be the option to crate you 24 hour period of tracking. This also be done with My Fitness pal so everything syncs up together. Now I have to ad my "Breakfast" for the nest day but my workout is from 2200 to 2300 so tat goes on my current day. Then everything resets at midnight. Its just annoying! To reiterate, FitBit and My Fitness Pal should make it to where the user can dictate the time where everything resets and begins tracking a "new Days Data".

This would be a great feature! I'm really loving my new Charge 2, but this would make it even better

How do I get my fitbit to get off of the "new day starts at midnight" concept? I work nights and so my stats keep splitting across days and it's very confusing. Is there an option to make the days switch over around noon? I eat breakfast at 7pm

Nope, that's what my post was about too
