Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

Edit: START day at wake up.

Stepping Up

I would like the ability to change my 24 hour day from midnight to 11:59pm to 10pm to 9:59pm (or some other 24 hour period).  I know it's the same steps regardless, but there are various reasons folks may want a different 24 hour period to accumulate steps.  Changing time zones would get me there, but then the watch would be incorrect all day.  Should be an easy feature.  Thanks.

I, and many users, work nightshift hours. There needs to be a feature in which we can start our days at a different time and track our stats over the next 24 HR. Obviously you can add things from two different days, but to feel like you're meeting step goals and such, it's nice to have the visual part .

I get up around 11am and go to bed around 3am. I get to the gym around 12:30am. Since the Fitbit resets at midnight, my stats from the gym go to the next day. Sometimes I get to the gym before midnight and leave after. It would be nice for it to recognize the day as when you are awake, not start over at midnight.

I found a suggestion for changing when the day resets for tracking on your Fitbit. This suggestion has almost 1.5 thousand up votes, and many comments about how useful it would be for users, yet this concept has not been implemented, or responded to.

I'm hoping to get a response as to why Fitbit has neither implemented this option, or responded as to why they won't when it clearly effects so many users.

I don't go to bed at midnight, so I don't want my daily step goal to reset at midnight. Why can't we change it to a time that suits?

Hello,

I have been an avid fitbit user from the flex days and I am baffled that it is 2019 and fitbit still does not recognize midnight shift workers.

I would love for fitbit to come up with a setting that the device can be set up as a midnight option with night hours that wont clear at midnight but rather clear at noon.

I work in Public Safety and in-order to count my steps in a shift I have to make sure I sync before midnight (most times I do not have time) and then add the steps on a separate app manually from midnight to 6am or when I go to bed in-order to calculate my steps in a day.

I know I am not the only fitbit user who works midnight shifts. How do you you guys do this on midnight shift.

As I'm sure your well aware of by now with the locked post, MANY users are asking for a simple change in the day start and end time. We need an update to allow the changing of when your day starts and ends from the only current option of 12:00 AM. A day start time of 12:00 AM is literally ridiculous for the 35% of the world that works nights or doesn't go to sleep before 12:00 AM. Its pitiful that a company with 8 types of FitBits can't figure out how to put in a simple software update to allow this change, but has over 6 years of comments, dating back from 2013, asking for it.So please, stop making now FitBits and please just put a simple hotfix in for a change in the day start, and end times.  What would be even better is if your FitBit could be set to end your day when you go to sleep or have a sleep cycle of say, more then 4 hours, trigger the ending of your day. It really isn't that hard and I'm sure FitBit can pay a developer to put the fix in the current software. If not, then were all simply doomed.

Thanks,

A concerned new user.

I love FitBit! However, there is one thing that is a downer for me.

I work 3rd shift and it’s really frustrating that the calorie count automatically starts over at midnight. Could an option be made to customize your day so your calorie count doesn’t “reset” at midnight? For example: My day is generally 6:30p-9:30a.

I know a lot of night shifters that would use FitBit if this was an option!

I work nights (6p-4:30a) and would like my steps to stop resetting at midnight on the Alta! This causes confusion for calories burned at work, and recording where I start on a separate sheet is to track takes up a lot of time. Please consider allowing us to set our active hours!

I just tried to set my activity from 10pm-6am in the app, as I work graveyards, but it doesn't count as consecutive hours, so it doesn't work. This also is a problem for similar features in the app, since it doesn't like my hours of activity, and messes with my step counter and such as well. This would be super helpful, thanks!

Suggesting that Fitbit include a function for us Night shifters who work at night and sleep all day. I can't adjust my steps to reflect my night life properly.

Like many of us that work non traditional schedules, and travel frequently internationally, I would love to be able to set my own sleep period (what is considered "night.") I at least want to be able to set whether the sleep period is assigned to the traditional day/night period when the sleep starts or ends.  Too confusing to have my sleep period that I began on Thursday show up as "Friday's" sleep, because that's when I woke up.

It would be nice if the day reset on these could be changed so those of us who work past midnight could have all their steps on a shift count on a single day instead of getting split up. For example I work until 2am, 2,000+ steps get counted towards the next day for me. If I could adjust my day to end at say 3am instead of midnight it would be really nice. I otherwise love the product

Hi all! My suggestion is to have FitBit start its day when you start yours. I work second shift, so I tend to wake up around 10 or 11:00, and I get home and go to bed well after midnight. I know as far as my body's concerned, when I eat and exercise will all even out, but the whole point of the app is to track everything for you. I kind of makes it confusing when I have to log my dinner before my breakfast on the same day! Lol!

(I also dislike that my bitmoji face is asleep hours before I get home! 😁)
