Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

Sometimes I am up and active past midnight and I would like to change my stats for the day to reset at 2 AM. I know others who work overnights who don’t want their work shift divided over two days with a midnight cutoff. If you can choose to have your week start on Sunday or Monday, how hard would it be to change the time your personal “day” begins? I’m also not interested in changing my time zone to trick into doing this since I rely on my time display to be accurate.

Hi @Spyboy1, thanks for taking the time to share why you would like to see this option on the Fitbit app and Website Dashboard. This feature suggestion already exists, so I’ve moved your post here. Hi community, I love my Fitbit.  I would like it so that my stats for the day accumulate and reset at 4am local time (when my day ends).  I could change the time zone but then it **ahem**s with my watch.  Maybe I'm just 4 hours behind the rest of the world, but that's where I'm at and it would be nice to customize.  Thank you.

I’m sorry to tell you folks, but if you’ve gone through the posts, you will see a pattern.

People who start their day at different times are not afforded the luxury of being able to track their day as they want to. There is a thread on here that is chock full of complaints about not being able to start their day at THEIR time, on THEIR watch. This thread has been duly ignored by Fitbit, with every post saying “they have no plans to implement this feature”. For whatever reason, Fitbit is actively choosing to ignore a sizable percentage of their userbase, basically telling them to suck it up.

for a company who wants to care about its users, they sure are trying hard not to. I watch the thread JUST IN CASE Fitbit decides they actually do want to do something that will benefit its users. Until then, go ahead and make your suggestion, and rest assured it will fall on deaf ears.

The fit bit should be able to track you fitness level from 12 am that morning to 11:59 pm that night. I don't work Monday to Friday 9 to 5. I can work 6 am to 2:30 pm one day and 1 pm to 9:30 pm the next day. I shouldn't have to go into my setting and change it every day to counts my steps.

Currently the sleep day starts and ends at midnight and the complete sleep is recorded on the day you actually fall asleep.

For people falling asleep near midnight, plus or minus,  this can result in having some days with zero sleep recorded and some days with two nights sleep recorded.

A more practical setting, for most people, would be from noon to noon, this would allow some variance in sleep time without a drastic impact on the sleep recorded on each day.

My suggestion is therefore to have the sleep day run from noon to noon each day as the default with the option to change it for people who do not live to this pattern, i.e. shift workers.

When Fitbit Premium came out I was really hopeful this feature would be finally included and it's still not an option! 😞

I work until midnight and if I work out afterwards it counts all of it for the next day. PLEASE PLEASE can we have that feature finally? This has been a problem for many years now.

It would be very beneficial to be able to set our own "0" for the day.  I love Fitbit, as do many of my co-workers, but working overnight limits how far we can look into its metrics.  If we could control our "0-hour" then we could create a much better picture of our daily health and activity.

I am a correctional officer and I work night shift. 6pm-6am. My fit bit charge 2 resets at midnight (right in the middle of my shift) I cannot get accurate readings due to my schedule. I sleep during the day and I try to track my steps but it's hard to do this accurately bc of the reset. When I'm already it'll notify me that I need to move but I'm not on a normal schedule. Please add a night shift mode.

As a nightworker, the collected data reseted at 0:00 is not convenient since I'm in the middle of my "work day". So the collected data are not really efficient. Moreover, I receive the "let's go" notifications when I sleep.

The ability to change the "daystart" time manually ( for example to 6:00 AM or 8:00 AM) could be a very nice improvement for all users woh work during the night or late in the evening".

I work night shift four days out of the week. My activity, eating pattern and sleep changes to accommodate my schedule. I am participating in the Level2 Diabetes study which utilizes the FitBit Versa Lite to track activity, food logs, weight and sleep. Diabetics who work night shifts may have a disruption for their circadian rhythm which could affect metabolism, digestion, etc. This population of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics are difficult to manage as there are few studies which incorporate meal planning, physical activity, sleep or medication changes for night shift workers. Circadian rhythms of hormones may not vary widely, but the stress of night shift work increases the risk of Type 2 diabetes, weight gain and sleep pattern disruption. If there was a programming option that would specify that a certain 24 hour period was a night shift that would be helpful to the study. The researchers could retrospectively analyze this cohort for meaningful data about this subset of the population. I hope you will consider adding a check box to the 24 hour clock/calendar to specify a night shift. Programming for specific night shift hours seems to be a daunting task, but it should be considered to compete with other smartwatches.

I work front in line emergency service and as such I work rotating shifts and have no steady going to bed or getting up time. I am well aware of the health side effects of this and do not need fitbit suggesting that I set a regular bed and wake time for better sleep. I do not need a daily reminder that I am going to die earlier.

I agree with this.  I work 12hour night shifts that run from 6pm-6am.  This type of shift work is VERY common with Police, dispatchers, nurses, hospital workers, emts etc etc etc.  It is not possible right now for me to set my activity reminder at all bc MY "day" goes over a midnight.  What would be helpful in my situation is to even have the option to change the am/pm.  I also find it difficult to keep track of my steps bc they reset at midnight. I wish there was a way for ME to set the hours I want my activity tracked.  I like my Versa, but I don't get much trackable data from it.  It's really only good for a short term info to shift workers.

I think it would be cool to be able to reset your standard "end of day" time. I'm active past midnight and would like to be able to get a concise view of my daily stats. My day doesn't end at midnight. It ends at 3 or 4am.
