Edit Time of Daily Reset of Stats / Add Nightshift

Hi, It would be great if users could change the daily reset of stats to a different hour. We night owls who go sleep late after midnight now have to calculate the differences in our heads and that's not ideal. Thanks!

It would also be nice if you could change the hours on a daily basis. Working nights, I am active at night on my working days, but active during the day in my off days.

I also work the night shift. Please, help us too.

Yes! I work 11pm to 7am, sleep 9ish-2ish, am active 2-6ish, then take another nap before work again. AND my schedule is different each day of the week! Would like to be able to change each day specifically!

Totally agree. So happy it's not just ne me having this problem. I work 2 weeks days 2 weeks nice. It would be nice to be able to change the scedule to fit my work and fitness schedule daily weekly etc. . It would also be nice to have a 24 hour clock.

Same for me, I work nightshift 10pm-7am, so my active hours are pretty much the opposite of a regular 9-5er. Please Fitbit, remove the restriction so that the 250 steps can include consecutive hours after midnight!

Add another vote for the user to be able to set when their day starts. I work 5pm to 4am and it is fustrating to try and keep track of my steps taken on a work day basis. I have to remember to write down the step after work each day, and then do the math with the total steps on the dashboard for the previous day.

One more vote for user adjustable start of day time. I work 5pm to 4am with different activities each day, so my steps are not consistant day to day. Trying to manually keep track of daily steps is irritating.

Shame that there are posts on this subject that are more than 3 years old - shows that there really is not a concern by Fitbit about a large segment of the population that works overnight... (who do you think handles the packages that are shipped overnight containing their products?)

I was able to change the hours to 00 thru 0800 on my Charge HR, but then the app went back .and assigned those hours to my previous days when I was NOT working. This effectively deleted my achieved 250-step hours, making it look as though I jad been sedentary during the 7am - 9pm hours when I had actually met my goals. Changing the hours on one day should not affect EVERY day. Please address this, as I am dedicated to using Fitbit and don't want to have to switch brands. Thanks

I can't figure out why they can't link the hourly steps to the time when you are awake, the fitbit knows when I am sleeping and logs it in, so why not start the hourly steps when I wake up instead of a set time.  I am also a night worker, I work 3 12 hour shifts 7 pm to 7 am, I have adjusted to the fact that when I am working my steps for one day are in two days on fitbit, and meals are all screwed up since I most often eat supper when I get home at 8 am since that is the end of my day, but this hourly thing is impossible.  It is just too much to keep manually changing the times according to when I am working or not as my nights are never the same two weeks in a row.  Even considering that it won't let me put my times over midnight.

@goldenrodfarm they probably could, but did the developers think about this idea? Probably no. I like the idea and I'm going to make the suggestion now.

Now since sometimes my work shift is 15 hours with 2 hours driving each way, with a 14 hour max... Well the math just doesn't work out.

Currently we are unable to choose active hours that span midnight.

Please change the hourly tracker so it is night shift friendly. 5p-6a are consecutive hours (and my work hours). We should be able to do the tracking after midnight or give us two settings to do 5p-midnight and midnight to 6a.

Yep, really hope that they can work on the software to add night shift friendly functions.  'Reminders to move' is a great feature that just becomes really inconvenient and not near as useful since it can't span across midnight.  There's lots of people that work night shift like myself, and every person benefits (even when they don't realize it) from having these people willing to sacrifice time with their families working this schedule.  Please help us fitbit!

yes same problem night shift and odd other days when not working. why can't it track all day long or I set a start and it advance to the five hour later mark and then I can adjust up from there...
this is a progamming problem, to lazy or maybe The Clock API doesn't handle it like it should?

I agree - why not start tracking the active hours when it registers that we're awake and stop when it registers that we're asleep again.

wow common sense, not many have that so it might never happen...
I'm to sarcastic,I should take a nap, I've been up all day doing demolition work...

That is a great idea! Have it track real activity/waking hours and track non-activity/sleeping hours. And then that would eliminate a TAB/BOX someone fought so hard to add to the app.

I work nights and my activity spans two calendar days when I'm working and changes to another time of the day when I'm off. It would be nice if the activity tracker could be entered daily and include any five to fourteen consecutive hours.

I also messaged them for this same thing. I work overnights as well, and thought there was a glitch with setting the timeframe. Would appreciate being able to set the hours I need.

Another vote here for nightshifts. I do the occasional nights so I need to be able to change the times. I've got a gap today where I've slept but I've been working tonight when others are sleeping

This was the response I got when I said that I work permanent nights (8pm-8am):
"This feature was intended to help our users to be aware of the hours of the day that are more active and remind them to move at least 250 steps in the hour to help them to achieve the daily steps goal, this feature is intent to measure at top 14 hour a day, within the 24 hours of the day, so this feature only works on the 24 hour of the day (from 00:00 to 23:59), so this feature does not track the activities from a day to other ( is not like the sleep track)

Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately this feature don't work in the night because of the midnight restart."

I think this idea is very similar to this other one in terms of setting the time of the day that a new day starts and ends but the concept is different in terms of being able to use the hourly activity for those hours. This is a great suggestion so hopefully it gets implemented in the near future.

Personally I.feel instead of trying to start this request all over it would be beneficial to add your votes to the 300+ votes on the earlier suggestion.

I agree I'm a shift worker.. when i was on rest days I hit my goal of 9... yay.. (ok not everyday)..however when I change my time windows when working a night shift.. for when i wake up onwards..It then changes all my previous ones to those hours! Therfore not hitting my previous days goals!
Can these goals not be specified by us the user on the day?
