3 years and 19 days since the original request, and counting...
Yep, I gave up after the first year. I'll keep the 2 Fitbit products I have, but I've added Fitbit to my blacklist over this issue and won't buy any additional or recommend Fitbit. There are many competing products that are more responsive to user input; I've got 3 of them.
Adobe flash is antiquated and does not work on iOS devices and many browsers. Companies often have policies to not use flash plugins in browsers at work.
It is long overdue to replace Flash with HTML5 guys - and it needs to happen sooner than later - not in another 3 years.
Use of HTML would render the site much more usable on a huge selection of devices and knowing that even Adobe has decided to dump Flash and support will end 2020 (https://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2017/07/adobe-flash-update.html), the implication of this is that you really have no choice. Your problem might be that you'll spend another 3 yrs (not unlikely at this pace?), support has then ended and you run into security issues due to lack of support and security updates. Not a good place to be for sure. And honestly, how difficult is it to update the few annoying occurences scattered around the site? Just my humble opinion... 😉
They (Fitbit) probably figured that losing whatever features Flash provided on those pages isn't as big of a deal as putting in the effort (as laughably miniscule as it would have been) to rework those features in HTML. People who joined Fitbit in the past few years will never even know what they were missing by *not* having Flash, how nice and useful it was too be able to see things like your friends' daily progress for example.
I stopped holding my breath a while ago and learned to "pretend" I'm one of those people. Humans are highly adaptable animals.
However, the lack of honesty and open communication on this subject matter has left me with very sour taste for Fitbit as a company, and if it weren't for a bunch of my co-workers who are using Fitbit products supplied by our company and "competing" from time to time, I'd be *long* gone for another brand.
It's truly a shame how poorly-managed and sad this saga has been...!
(Actually, now that our company stopped supplying Fitbit devices, I think I'm gonna start to seriously investigate competing products and work towards switching everyone off away from the careless apathy that Fitbit has been demonstrating here towards it's long-term loyal customers' needs and requests.)
This is not a new topic, but I can't believe that it's still not addressed. I am new to using Fitbit andI can't believe that your dashboard still uses Flash. Adobe Flash has serious security risks. We're coming up on 2018 and most of the world is migrating to HTML5. Please please please...it's time to migrate off of Flash...
Hi @ultraman and commenters, just a quick update that we are gradually reducing Flash on the site and as elements of the dashboard are redesigned, there will be less and less as time goes on. Thanks for your comments.
Wow!! Only took just about 2 months short of 4 years to hear the first (and only) response from Fitbit! It is a comfort to own a product whose manufacturer is sensitive to the complaints and opinions of users. Good job, Fitbit!
Better late than never I guess, but so far this is just words, and no specific dates/timetable. The main user account page has remained unchanged for several years. I've eventually learned to live without it... But making it functional again will be a welcome change; I just hope it won't be another 4 years until it happens.
Please migrate all the charts/visuals to html5 from obsolete non working adobe flash. We can’t see our friends data even after allowing it in the privacy settings. So this is a non working feature as it is!
Hi LizFitBit Moderator Thank you for (FINALLY!) replying to this thread. However, as an organization, especially a technology-based organization, FitBit's 'response' or lack there of regarding the continued, ill advised use of Adobe Flash as part of your so-called 'Premium' features is a true EMBARRASSMENT.
This comment thread began in 2014!!! Some of the commenters have offered specific solutions for you. It is very clear to me that we (the users, your clients) care about FitBit and want to make it better.
This entire matter does not bode well for FitBit as a company.
It shows a lack of training at best and a lack of vision at worst.
Simply having the lead in a technological space does not protect a company from failure.
In Chrome flash is blocked so all I see is the text '30 day graph'. I have to specifically enable flash on the fitbit site for it to work. Its just a lame experience.
Not to jump on the "me too" bandwagon here but... 🙂 Flash is a security risk and asking users to continue to use it puts them at risk too. It is a technology that is disabled by default on Chrome and I am sure other browser vendors will follow. Please update the charts on your dashboard to use HTML5 or some other comparable technology. I'd actually like to see that data someday!
I've given up on my Fitbit, and got an apple Watch. Though it is much different than the Fitbit, I still get the same result: getting up and walking or exercising more. Been interesting to see how long this thread keeps going. Wow!
@Zeise your giving up on a piece of hardware because of the way the web page is designed. If you have been monitoring this it will be bottled that slowly the pages are having their Flash removed. Simply for troubleshooting and reliablity I do understand the importance of doing one page at a time. If one page goes down it is simpler to fix than having a sight go done.
