Heart Rate Monitoring

I love my fitbit flex but I would love to see and upgrade to include heart rate monitoring. I currently use a separate heart rate watch when working out to get a better accuracy for calories burned because when I do the insanity workout for 45 minutes the flex only says 6 minutes active but I know I am working very hard for the entire 45 minutes. Will this ever be an option?

A heart rate monitor would be benificial.  The flex already comes in contact with the skin of the wrist.  Could the monitor be 'tweeked' to sense the changes of the capillaries of the skin in response to the activities?  I recognize that wearing a plastic product does cause a rise in skin temperature in itself, but could this be factored in?  And IF the heart could be monitored through this process, I suspect blood pressure would not be far behind.

The baby boomers are aging [as I am] and may need these features as markers for the level of intensity of their activities.  They may have restrictions on the intensity of their activities based on medical conditions, or to guide their re-conditioning process after a medical setback.

Please consider it and let me know when the product becomes viable.  Thanks for listening!

This would be a great feature for triathletes, runners, bikers, etc.

I'm a triathlete currently looking for a wrist device that will track heart rate while doing all three sports. Are there any thoughts about making a more water resistant device holder for swimming? Also, having it vibrate at program set intervals would be great for pool training.

Maybe start with the possibilety to log manually avg and max , then add Bluetooth an BLTE , then create own device. Thuis was ONE of the most asked for features in endomondo, runkeeper andere runtastic.

Having had my Fitbit Flex now for a few months, I recently saw an exercise physiologist who recommended that I monitor my heart-rate to get a more accurate picture of my health. (I have a chronic medical condition that means I need to be careful about the intensity of my exercise).

I love my flex, but it really is frustrating on 2 levels.  The first is not being able to monitor my heartrate (the lifetrak C410 can do this, but it's ugly, and doesn't have an alarm function (duh!) or calories 'in' option which I think is pretty important).

The second is that Fitbit still doesn't have an Australian food data base and it's pretty annoying having to go to other sites to get accurate nutritional info and then manually log it into my dashboard and save as favourites.  I don't really want to use another app like my fitness pal when Fitbit has most of what I need, but the lack of a HRM is definitely letting it down and I may have to go to something else such as the lifetrak if Fitbit doesn't get this implemented soon!

I use map my run and it integrates with my rhythm heart rate monitor. It would be great to get this feature.

I use map my fitness which cooperates with my scosche rhythm plus heart rate monitor. Would be great to see fitbit support it so I can put my fitness apps on a diet.

I would love a heart rate monitor that automatically took your heart rate in customizable intervals (every 10 minutes for examples). I suffer from social anxiety so seeing how my heart rate changes over time when put in social situations would be a great insight for me.

A heart rate monitor would be a great additional feature for the flex.

Agreed. I would like one that takes the heart rate from the wrist not a chest strap. There are several such options on the market now and to me, this is what makes the product. I need accuracy. I want to buy a fitbit, but this feature is what is holding me back. I like the fitbit app so, I have been holding out until I can find the device with all the features I desire.

If a heart rate monitor can't be integrated (I use the One) it would be great if it could sync with a Polar (or other) monitor!

a heart rate monitor that I could slip into my bra which of course could be time synched to my flex would be neat.  If it could have an altimeter as well then i would have the full suite of features that i'm interested in.

I realise a chest strap is required for those not so gifted as to be bra wearers, but the ability to use the bra instead of effecively a second strap would reduce a great deal of frustration on my part.

Oh, for clarity there are some activities I do not wear my flex on my wrist for (primarilly rock climbing and my harness has a very flat heartrate), I don't trust pulse rates from extremities anyway especially not while flexing and hauling on said extremity.

I just read an Engadget article saying that Fitbit has applied for a patent for "pulse" technology, and Engadgets guess is that Fitbit will release the product this October (3 months from this writing). I wish Fitbit would clarify so we can all know. I suppose that would slow their sales of current products, though, so we probably won't know until it's actually available.

I have just bought a Fit Bit Flex and I also Have Heart disease and attend a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and I think this would be a great idea. The flex already comes in contact with the skin of the wrist. Could the monitor be 'tweeked' to sense the changes of the capillaries of the skin in response to the activities?  I recognize that wearing a plastic product does cause a rise in skin temperature in itself, but could this be factored in? If this could be done I would be first on the waiting list to buy the new Fit Bit

When I link my DIgifit activities it would be nice if the heart rate info was imported as well into the heart rate section on fitbit.com.

Can you please add a heart monitor, that can be uploaded in our upgrades?

I have a Fitbit Flex, which I just got and so far I really like it, but it seems to give me more steps than I actually take.

I wasn't sure if this would be a "Web Dashboard Suggestion" or a "Feature Request".  I hope I chose the right one.

I would echo the above comments concerning heart rate monitoring.  Is there even a way to just have the fitbit app synch to a third party heart rate monitor?  I went out and purchased a basic chest strap heart rate monitor and have it synched to MapMy Run.  I use it for both my running and weight workouts inh the gym set up throughy MapMyRun, and then it transfers the calorie burn data to the fitbit app.  Would be nice if I could do it all right from the fitbit app.

Heartrate monitor, a way to keep functions from not dissapearing, for the bariactric community the ability to set calorie goals well under 700! Better color choices for the bands.

Also a way to eliminate the double tapping to turn on and off. Mine shuts off when I clap!

I'm voting for this one with both of my hands (on the keyboard)! I'd love to see the iOS app to allow me to use my camera and the flash to check my heart rate and log it from there. It's a quick way of registering the rate throughout the day.

I was also surprised to notice that I cannot even manually enter my heart rate in the app. So not only I need to use another app to measure my HR but I also need to go to the website to log it 😞

Please add a heart rate monitor to the Flex.  I sweat buckets in the gym on the static bicycle (spinning?) and I only get a few minutes of exercise recorded and only about 130 calories burned.  I know I am doing way more than this.  I need the Flex to be more accurate or it is not really worth having.  Inaccurate figures are not worth having.  I love the rest of what Flex does though so keep up the good work.

It would be great if the fitbit was able to monitor heart rate.

This feature would be the bomb if you added it, I find it very hard to monitor my heart rate at the gym since both of my hands have to keep in contact with the contacts on it. A real pain in the gluteus maximus, especially if I need to wipe my forehead or change albums on my Android. Having the heart rate monitoring feature would free them up. Please, Please add it, don't make me beg.
