My understanding from reading some posts is the heart rate monitor is turned off automatically while in a swim exercise session. I'd like it on. Thanks.
I've read that the heart rate tracking is turned off during swimming as you believe it's not very accurate. I'm able to see my heart rate during swimming if I don't start a swimming exercise and let it auto recognize it. The heart rate I see appears to be relatively accurate. It's more accurate that either the laps and distance that are shown.

Many Fitbit users exercise in water due to injury, recovery and limitations and recreation.. The algorithm Fitbit uses does not adjust for the hydrostatic pressure of water. I use a Fluid Running program that gets heart rates up to intense levels but the heart rate recorded is lower by 10-15 bpm.

Many posts have commented on the swimming exercise tracking, and how the heart rate doesn't show on the Charge 4 during swimming. The stats shown on your device after the swim (lengths, distance, calories) are very limited, and only very approximate. The only stat that appears on the watch during the workout is time! Quite useless, really.

Yes, please. As an obese, prediabetic, senior woman my exercise is in water due to bad knees, feet, etc. I love the pool, but need accurate feedback for my HIIT from FitBit to know when I am hitting my zones. Please help me get fit and healthy with the accuracy I need in the water.

I need to monitor my heart rate in real time during my water aerobic workout. My understanding is that none of the Fitbits will do this. I have an Inspire HR. Please make it possible to have the device just show me my heartrate when it's in the water.

Fitbit offered me Charge 5 as a replacement for a Charge4. It should be made clear that the Charge5 will not record heat beats in water where as the Charge 4 will

- Start the swim activity so I can have laps but no Hearth Rate - hence basically getting more Zone Minutes when I overeat than when I train.
- Let the watch automatically detect swim, so I can have a Hearth Rate (which seems QUITE accurate) but no laps count. But sometimes, like today, it detects swimming as... walking.
It's a simple feature, but it is incredibly stupid that you can't when the tracker is perfectly capable of tracking your HR underwater.
