Improve Charge 3 Clock Faces

Please add new (and better designed) Charge 3 watch faces, as the current selections are mostly hard to read and very disappointing compared to my Charge2. At the very minimum, please add ALL the Charge2 faces, which are far better than the current ones. Think big! Use bold sans serif fonts with clear & legible designs! Thank you.

@Charge_2_fan  - thanks for the info.  I was like others thinking that since my watch is now almost 18 months old and they have been promising something for that whole time, that new faces would never come.

Do you have the link to share from the other thread?  I would like to check out the timing and be able to post if the update never comes to my wrist.

Thanks!

Hi alwweb, here's the link to the post on the latest Fitbit Charge 3 firmware update:

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-3/Charge-3-Firmware-Release-1-88-11/m-p/4396028

Timeframe appears to be August 2020, so its imminent, but it will be a slow progressive rollout. Only two or three in the thread post have the update, with some cautious saying the update has made their Charge 3's unusable 😮 It sounds like the later you get the update, the less problematic it will be. I'm so looking forward to it though - the weekday showing in the date is what I've been after for a long time. Several Charge 4 watch faces have this, and it looks like we may be getting them in this update 🙂 yay!

How do you tell what version is currently on your charge 3?  If I go on the watch and check "Settings" -> "About" It says version 28.20001.63.5.

Which doesn't seem to correspond to to the 1.88.11 number system.

Here is a (hopefully) working link to description:

Hi Bobsub, 28.20001.63.5 (1.63.5 for short) is the last version that all Charge 3 users including myself have. Replace those last digits in brackets with the ones I gave you and that should be the full number for the latest version. Tip - dont force an update through the app via the help menu item - it won't work. You have to wait until you see the large banner in the app, when say you are on the screen with the clock face and apps menu tiles etc. Please see thread I linked to for more advice - there are 11 pages of comments on this new update in there.

@Charge_2_fan I have firmware 1.63.5 and I cannot see the "Modern Clock" clock face in my list.

Should I wait for 1.88.11 for it to be available?

It is great news though, that we have a new firmware update! Looking forward to it, not sure when I will get it though

Hi N3mesi5, That's really strange that you and I are both on 1.63.5, i have modern clock to choose from, and you dont see it!? I had a really weird glimpse too back in April this year when selecting clocks in the Android Fitbit app - i kid  you not, I saw blank tiles instead of faces, of all the Charge 4 clock faces when selecting a clock for my Charge 3! I got quite excited!!! Somehow was this perhaps a glimpse at the latest firmware, not properly rolled out, or a glitch? I only saw it once though, never since. I also saw a flashing low battery alarm on my device a few weeks ago, and thought it was a great new feature being more noticeable. A couple of weeks later, this new feature dissapeared. Also I wonder how I got the SP02 update rolled out 'silently' - it just appeared one day without any firmware update. I thought surely some kind of interface change with the hardware I.e. 'switch on SP02 red LED' must be set by a Firmware update, but evidently not! I am perplexed how Fitbit updates are rolled out. I hope you get Modern Clock in the next firmware update - I really like the look of the Pendulum analog face, as it's a bigger clock than. Analog Stat, and it also has day of the week 🙂

Can you guys please please please make the stats on the pendulum clock face white? Its impossible to see while youre outside doing anything.

This is is the only decent clock face you guys have that doesnt make my watch look like a kids first watch. Im grown up enough to read an actaul clock i dont need numbers to know what time it is.

I seriously doubt anything will be addressed since im on a charge 4 and this is a charge 3 clock face. 🤦

But i do agree with letting us take control and create our own clock face since you guys OUTRIGHT ignore our suggestions. Thats the least you can do.

I like the pendulum also, but the shorter hour hand should be wider than the longer minute hand, so when the two hands are exactly over each other you can see that that's the case.  The way it is now, it looks like there is only one hand there and the second hand is mistaken for a minute hand and the time is misread.  Honestly, who designs these things?  And yes, all the stats should be bright white.

@AnthonyB. @SunsetRunner I agree with your comments re the Pendulum clock face. I'd also add:

- in practice both clock hands are too short and thin

- remember the hands from the analog watch on the Charge 2? They were viewable nicely, as are the thicker bright hands of the Charge 3's Analog Stat face, which would work for me if it had the day of the week

- having an option to just use 'bright font' (i.e. dont use greyscale) would be great for all display items on the Charge 3. Sure it looks less visually appealing, but you have a better chance of seeing writing outdoors!

@SunsetRunner@Charge_2_fani totally agree! These are all great options that should be relatively easy to implement. But all we can do is hope yhe developers actaully see this and take our concerns into consideration.
