Increase or customize hourly activity goal from 250 steps/hour

It would be really cool to have the option to increase the reminder to move minimum count.  Currently, the reminder to move is set to 250 and I would really like the option of raising that number as my activity increases.

I would LOVE to increase the goal of the number of steps per hour on my Charge 2. It would also be nice if I could choose when the Fitbit will remind me to move (i.e,. 15 minutes instead of 10).

I would also like the ability to change the 250 hourly step reminder to another number, either higher or lower, depending on work schedule, etc.  Thank you.

It would be helpful to someone like myself in a sedentary job to have the reminder that you have not yet completed the default programed 250 steps per hour. To be able to increase this number would be beneficial.

Thank you

Adding another voice to the request.

I just upgraded from Flex for Charge 2 and, while I love the additional features, I feel that the default 250 step hourly goal is too low. I would love to be able to customise the value to suit my own goals. I am working to increase my steps to the recommended 10,000, so don't get many motivational buzzes to get me off of my office chair. If I could even just select some higher options, like 500, 750, 1000, it'd be great.

Hope this feature is in the works for an update soon!

I would like to be able to adjust the hourly step goal (ex: from 250 to 500, etc).  The 250 steps an hour does not take you near your 10,000 daily goal.   To be able to increase the hourly step goal to meet your 10,000 daily goal would be amazing.

Is it possible to have a reminder to move if you haven't move enough on Fitbit Charge?

I definitely agree, we should be able to set our own hourly steps based on your goals. GOOD POINT!!

I was also looking for a "change steps per hour goal" somewhere in the settings and was very disappointed when I couldn't find anything... I'd love to see this implemented in a update sometime, the sooner the better of course. I understand 250 is just to keep people moving, but it'd help to have the option to customize it for those who want to be a bit more active than just moving. A lot of people have a 10k steps per day goal. I love that my watch pokes at me to move each hour, but it'd be nice to be able to change that to a higher count if we wanted to, leaving 250 as a default starting count to continue with the "be active" suggestion for people starting out, but I'd love to be able to change it to any number, and also as suggested in another post, a neat thing to add to it would be the option to be able to change it from h:50 to another hour, 40 or 30 even, or maybe multiple if we wanted, at h:30 and h:50 to let us know if we're far from our go at h:30 we better get up and start moving!

Either way, I love that this was added to our fitbits, I'd just love to see it more customizable!

Thanks for everything Fitbit admins.

I've seen a few suggestions for being able to increase the number of steps per hour, but I wanted to chime in with the idea of being able to set it to less than 250 as well. If the daily step goal is fully customizable, why not the hourly goal?

I know 250 is a good number (a few minutes of walking), but I have a health condition that makes it difficult to do that every hour, especially if I've only got 10 minutes after the vibration alert. You could always keep 250 as the default and have a note pop up saying something like "250 is the recommended minimum, but you can do less if needed" if someone chooses to do less.

Basically, I'd love to be able to use the reminder to get me moving every hour (even just for 20 steps), but at the moment it isn't very motivating-- if I don't feel up to walking around for a few minutes, often I just stay seated because it won't count. (I know I could get up anyway, but the point of a fitbit for me is to keep track of my HR and motivate me to do things I should but don't do.) This kind of change would help it be accessible to more people, so they can do as much as they are able and still have it count.

This is a great suggestion, I have been thinking this since I got my Charge2 that I wish I could increase the number of steps required per hour. As the 250 does not get close to the daily requirement so even if I reach my hour goal im waaaay off my daily.

I came to the suggestions area to add this idea myself but searched quickly and found this had already been suggested.
I really hope this idea can be implemented. Fingers crossed with an update it might not be too hard (not a programmer, so nooo idea), as we can change so many other goals this would be ideal.

Would also be a great idea if we could add when we want our reminders, sometime 10minutes to the hour doesn't give me enough time to ... get off the phone(at work in a seated cubicle), get out the car etc  etc... would love to be able to set it at say the half hour mark then also the 10 minutes before the hour time. Just an idea, in an idea. 🙂

When setting the Hourly Activity, it would be useful to have an option to have different hours per day, or at least have 14 hours Monday - Friday that cover waking up and going to work, but Saturday & Sunday a later start hour i.e. M-F 6-19, S&S 8-21

Was going to post exactly the same thing!

I would like to turn this number up in my case to more easily achieve my total steps a day goal.

I agree - for me 250 doesn't seem to be enough when you are trying to get to 10,000 steps. 250 is just a drop in the bucket

Hi @cookiem66 whilst there aren't plans to adjust this specifically in Alta, I really like this idea. I've taken the liberty of adjusting the title and labels so people can vote for this suggestion on future products and we can streamline votes. Thanks

Totally agree... I was looking in forums to see if I can change the step notification count and was directed here. I would like to increase it since 250 steps won't get me close to the recommended 10,000 steps a day. I understand some people would want less. I'm surprised why this step count number is not customizable just like the hours of notification is. Seems like an easy change within Fitbit. I was told by my dr to walk more... having this ability in Fitbit would help me. Please let me know if this can be done and if it can just be an update rather than me having to buy another Fitbit.

I also like the idea of being able to change the notification time. Default is set to 10 mins till the hour. If I want to do more steps I would like the option to alert me 15, 20 or whatever minutes before the hour.

Totally agree

I really don't understand why it was not done initially (Changing target) it's so simple...

Currently, it appears that you can only have 250 steps per hour - no more and no less - to qualify for "moving" during the range of hours that you've set the watch to monitor.  I suggest the following:

1) Allow the settings to set more or less minimum steps per hour - maybe I'd like to set a goal of 500 steps per hour - why can't I have that?

2) Allow the settings to allow the reminder to come at your own time(s) - I'd like to be reminded earlier than 10 minutes before the end of our - like how about 30 minutes instead (or both)

3) Allow multiple reminders - if you want them - per hour - to keep moving - if you haven't reached your goal yet.

Sometimes I'm busy or get on a phone call and cannot get up when I'm reminded (10 minutes to go) and I wind up not having time to move.

Hi it would be great to set this higher if you want to. so maybe starting at a minimum of 250 and maybe going up to 500, those of us with higher step goals for the day, it would help to achieve this easier than trying to catch up at the end of the day if you're falling short.

Great idea - you beat me to submitting this request : )

Given that you can set the number of days, it should not be too difficult to change the number of steps per hour.

Along with this I think steps shouldn't be the only measure of active vs sedentary. I understand that fitbit watches are really only able to automatically track step based activities, however, I think it should be possible to log or track activities that are not step based and that those activities should also go toward your 8 hour movement goals. For example sometimes I do long sessions of yoga. Sessions of up to an hour, yoga doesn't involve a lot of steps but I am continuously moving and yet I don't get my activity point just because I am not walking or running. I like getting all my points but at the same time it's not worth stopping my workout to walk around just so I can prove I am being active. I always log and/or track my exercise and I believe it is a common practice so the information is available and it wouldn't require automatic detection by the watch. Some people, for whatever reason, do more low impact activities like yoga and swimming and that isn't really the same as sitting still watching television so I feel it should count.

I strongly agree with your number 2 point! It is so annoying to get the reminder that close to the deadline because there are times when it just isn't possible to squeeze in that walk. I would rather it come 1/2 way or something that way I have some warning and it's not like have to walk now.

I'll add my voice to the crowd - being able to customize the number of steps and/or reminder interval would be AMAZING.  I'd love to be able to set half hour reminders or up my steps per hour.  Even better - have a lower step goal at work and a higher step goal before/after.  It cannot possibly be that hard to program.  Please do this for us, Fitbit!!
