Individual "Self timer" to guided meditations list

In the Track your mindfulness category on Fitbit home screen, may I suggest you add a "self timer" option to your list of guided meditations. This feature would allow the user to set a time for how long they meditate, and do it on their own in silence, without having to listen to a guided recording. Maybe just have a nice chime when the time is up.

I would also like to track my meditations without having to use one of the FitBit guided meditations. This seems like a pretty basic feature. I was surprised to find it's not already available.

I would also love a meditation feature. To me, ideal would be a timer on the app and vibrating on my device. It would also be great if the app could sound periodic bells and a different sound for the end of the meditation, and give people the option of when to have the sounds play. And then also record the time on the app. And finally an option to log meditation manually. Right now I’m logging into Apple health and it’s really inefficient to use two different health apps.

I am confused and disappointed that (a) I am not able to track mindfulness without practicing one of the specific audios in app and (b) that the Relax feature on my device doesn’t link up with the mindfulness tracking.

If there was an option to track my own meditation practices that I already practice daily I would be SO EXCITED. I don’t need an audio to follow as I have my own breathing mediations locked in.

Also, I’d love to see the Relax feature actually go somewhere in my stats. I do really enjoy it.

How has this basic feature not been added yet with almost 200 liked in such a short time?

Can a meditation session through Headspace be tracked in the Fitbit app?  It passes through to the Apple Health app but not to the Fitbit app.  Any ideas?

I would also like this feature- the guided meditations are very short and I prefer silent meditation as others have noted. I’d love a meditation timer option. Thank you!

This is what I THOUGHT we were getting with the versa update but it just locks you in to a guided meditation by fitbit. Many of us mediate on our own - unguided. It would be awesome to be able to track this like we track an exercise and see heart rate change over the meditation WITHOUT having to lock in to a fitbit guided mediation. I'm not knocking the fitbit mediations. They're nice and have their purpose. But just like no one runs at the same pace or the same way, no one mediates the same way either.

Seconding these comments and the dozens of others on the 10+ or so identical threads to this one - I would reaaaaaaaaaaaally appreciate the ability to independently log mindfulness, as we can already do with all other activities.

I don't understand why this wasn't an original feature - unless extortion was the plan the whole time.

What's more, customers have been requesting this change for more than 5 years now - why has no one responded or taken any action??

Definitely reflects incredibly poorly on Fitbit as a company, and also now on Google, as the new proprietor.

I hope this will finally be given attention sooner rather than later. I really want to love this thing! But the limited mindfulness function absolutely hinders my ability to fully enjoy it. (That, and the automatically collected personal sleep data locked behind a paywall...another form of extortion...but I digress.)

Please, somebody, anybody, do some Quality of Life updates that users are and have been demanding for years! The app is dysfunctional and disappointing to so many of us without them.

+1.000 for this idea! Yes, please!

I don't get why this hasn't been implemented years ago! There's obviously a lot of demand, and it doesn't seem like a feature that would be all that hard to implement?

This is sorely needed!!!

I’d really welcome this facility as like many others, I already follow a mediation practice and it’s really annoying that I can’t record this on the FitBit App

First day using my Versa 3 and was really surprised to not find this option when I went to log my first mindfulness activity. I have a daily prayer practice and want to keep myself consistent / reach my goals to actually complete it daily. Either a self-timer or a log after the fact (true you wouldn't necessarily get biometric info with post-activity logging) seems like a big shortcoming. I appreciate some of the work-around comments left here, and may try them, but one major factor of mindfulness is disconnecting from screens and electronics, so tracking should be incredibly simple, single tap sort of behavior.

I totally agree! It is a year passed since it was asked for self timer. So many comments and support from other members. And the option is still not there.
I was really disappointed not to find it on my SENSE.
Please add it. It is really needed.
Thank you.

YES. Gosh the OP post is ideal - I really really hope Charge 5 will have that functionality.

I would love to be able to enter my own meditation work in. I’ve used the guided meditation through the apps and they’re fine, but I don’t want to be limited to them. Having an option to track my independent meditation sessions would be optimal and not being able to is the only aspect of Fitbit tracking that I haven’t enjoyed.

I completely agree. There are some guided meditations that I like that are not included in the Fitbit app. It would be nice to be able to log the minutes separately.

Hi @Gwenosaurus, thanks for explaining why you'd like to have a self timer when tracking your mindfulness sessions with us. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here as this will help us to make sure the suggestions don't get confused, or split a popular vote. @YojanaFitbit is there an update on this? I have thought this for awhile and looks like there are many who agree! Can we get a self timer for meditation please 😊

This would be great, would use daily. Going to try turning the volume down to none and seeing how it handles that, based on @/Carolokc's comment.

I would definitely use a self-timed mindfulness tracker. It would also be very useful to have a few more guided options as well. I can only see beginning the journey and it would be useful to get some intermediate practices that could be like 20 minutes long or so. If it's there I don't know how to find it so if someone can chime in and help me I would appreciate it.
