Keep clock face/device screen on for longer

I work in EMS and love my new Ionic, but when trying to count my patients heart rate and respiration's I keep having to push the button with my other hand which I usually have on the patients arm.  This makes it hard to watch the clock, and flicking my wrist doesn't always work.  It would be nice if there was an option to keep the watch face active for more that 20 seconds, maybe give the options for 1 minute and 2 minutes also.  I understand that will cause the battery to not last as long but that would be my choice.  Thanks for your time.

I think it would be great if Fitbit could make a watch face that would accommodate the needs of nurses. I love my new Versa but it is not usable at work and I have to wear a different watch. I understand that the quick appearance and disappearance of the watch face is to save the battery but it would be nice if you could create a face that would stay lit for at least 1 minute. The ability to time pulse and respiration for up to 1 minute is sometimes necessary. Thanks!

Hi! I am a college student and I got my Fitbit for my health but also for when I go into clinicals. However I won’t be able to because it only stay on for more than 2 seconds so I won’t be able to take vitals. So I am suggesting that you come up with something so it can stay on for like 15 or 30 seconds before going back to sleep. Thanks

i am having the same issue i notice that this is under consideration right now so please please add the update that will allow you to change how long the clock interface stays awake. i mean i cant even read all of the time, the date, the heart rate, and steps on my charge2 with the 3 seconds it stays awake. i have too flick my wrist at least 2 times to see whats going on on my watch. and like it was said above yes that will drain battery but that's your choice.

please add update

I’ve been using the Chronograph face while I’m at work and that works

Your are right the Chronograph does stay on, but it does not prove other
needed information that I use from the Stats clock face. The ideal solution
would be to provider a setting on any clock face for continuous display.
The setting could be right after the "backlight delay". setting. so you
could easily turn in on or off.

I am disappointed with the lack of sensitivity of my versa to wake up. I end up having to press a button way to frequently to wake it. It has me missing my watch like crazy. It would be awesome to have a clock face with an always on option. I realize it would minimize battery life, but maybe it could slightly dim and then with a subtle flick of the wrist brighten?..

In my line of work I need to tell the time while both hands are occupied. Tapping or related flicking of the wrist is not an option. I eventually gave up (and gave away) my watch because it lacked this feature. I don’t mind having to charge every day if this feature was made possible. Ideally a timer should be available to keep the time showing when activated for 3 mins, 5 mins, 30 mins, or 1, 2, 6 or 8 hours. If Fitbit introduced this feature I would buy the Versa in a shot (and one for my wife too).

I bought the charge 2 to use as a normal watch, to see my heart rate during workouts (rowing machine, weights etc), and use as a stopwatch for planks etc.

Turns out I can use it for none of those things because the screen is blacked out almost immediately!

Yes, having the screen always on would drain battery, but I don't care if it takes it down from 5 days to 2 hours as long as I can use it for what I bought it for!

And worse, it looks like fitbit just don't care about our opinions on this. Sadly I'll just have to take it back.

I am also a nurse and need to be able to see the clock face second hand for at least 30 seconds, though 60 seconds would be even better. I want to be able to wear one device, because wearing two watches is just ridiculous.

I'd love to have a longer display time in my Fitbit! 😃

Yes yes yes!!! Need HR to persist when working out. Charge 2 is useless for me because it's too hard to monitor HR during a cycling workout. I want the option to make it to persist for longer periods or indefinitely during the workout. It is really frustrating when you're on a bike trying to target your HR, breathing hard, and the wrist flick either doesn't work or disappears so fast you can't get a handle on where HR is now or how it's trending up or down. I'm looking for other devices now that can meet the need.

If I could use the iconic or blaze as a watch so that I could monitor time for at least one minute, I would purchase one.......until then, I have to wear a watch with a second hand and 1-5 seconds is not long enough to monitor it.  I am unable to use a phone or other device for those times and need the "wristwatch".  But can't wear a watch and a fitbit on the same wrist.  I currently have an alta for size but would love to have the greater function of the upgraded fit bits.

The Apple Watch allows for preferences on how long the watch face stays on. I’m not asking for it to stay on all the time but some choices for longer time periods would be great. I am a nurse and I cannot use this watch while working because I need it to stay on longer to take a pulse.

I have noticed that when I turn my wrist to look at the time, the screen doesn't always turn on like it's supposed to (this has been the case ever since I got it ~6 months ago).

This, even though when I wear it at night sometimes the screen does turn on from a random arm movement, casting a bright beam of blue light through the dark room that wakes me and my partner.  Smiley Frustrated

If you can fix the motion-sensor screen-on feature, I don't need the screen to be on all the time!  I'd rather save battery (ntm not have the screen on when I'm sleeping).

I'm also in the ems field and it really does suck that you can't see more than 15 seconds. I need At least 30 seconds on the safe side. I may end up converting to a apple watch if they don't get it together. There's way to many people in the medical field that needs this. It makes it difficult to perform our jobs. I refuse to wear a watch and a fitbit. It looks crazy.

Display goes off far too quickly, would be much better if you had the option to set the timer for how long it stayed on for or to have it on permanently

It would be great if there was at least the option to have the time always displayed like any watch.

It doesn't have to be the full display but just a basic 00:00 with no backlight surely wouldn't sacrifice that much battery life.

It's always frustrating when you want to just quickly check the time but the display doesn't come up promptly, making you have to press the button or re-look at the fitbit to get it to turn on.

Or maybe an adjustable sensitivity to trigger when the screen turns on?

Create a feature where you can adjust how long the screen stays on for, on your fitbit

I actually bought this as a watch since it is the skinniest digital watch out there. (I don't need all the other stuff as it is going on the wrist of an 5 foot tall 88 year old with dementia.). It is not made clear that the display will only show for less than 3 seconds until after you buy it. This is an opportunity you are missing by not allowing the user to choose if they want it to show continuously or for the ridiculously short amount of time you have on here now.

Would love to see a firmware update with being able to determine seconds. As a healthcare professional I’m unable to count using my Fitbit. There is no indication on the clock face. I suggest to have the [:] flashing or blinking to indicate seconds. Or a smaller box that counts the seconds. Please implement immediately. I’m pretty sure will help with many users around the world with all models!

I assume you dont have always on for battery reasons but you should at least give the option. The screen should always be on during workouts and when a notification comes through the screen should turn on... I think many people are missing the move notification because it's a small vibrate. The scree van timeout but the notification should stay on until I dismiss it.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents to the clamor for the always on watch face.  It doesn't have to be fancy, but I lived through the '80s where you had to push a button for the watch to light up.  I don't want to go back.

Thanks

It would be very beneficial for those of us that work in the medical field if our backlight timer could be set to at least one minute. I frequently need to use seconds to take a pulse and don’t want to have to flick my wrist in the middle of counting everytime

EMS techs need this ASAP! I’ve resorted to wearing my Charge 2 on my right hand and a traditional watch with a second hand on my left. It’s the only way I can take patient vitals reliability without losing track of the time or being distracted keeping the Fitbit watch face up.

Come on Fitbit. Make this happen! 😉
