Keep clock face/device screen on for longer

I work in EMS and love my new Ionic, but when trying to count my patients heart rate and respiration's I keep having to push the button with my other hand which I usually have on the patients arm.  This makes it hard to watch the clock, and flicking my wrist doesn't always work.  It would be nice if there was an option to keep the watch face active for more that 20 seconds, maybe give the options for 1 minute and 2 minutes also.  I understand that will cause the battery to not last as long but that would be my choice.  Thanks for your time.

can you not switch the versa and the charge 3 to e-ink? it worked great with the pebble!

the new charge 3 is looking promising. an always on screen and smart alarm feature are all I need to come back to the fold.

Please, please do it. I live in terror that mie pebble time might die before you bring this to market. 🙂

This will never be done because fitbit cant create a smart watch with the same power as an apple watch. Essentially your fitbit would be dying every day, maybe before end of day. If you want this feature wait and buy their new watches in 2019 when itll likely be a feature, causing you to buy a new watch. That is the fitbit way. They have next to no support on their older model watches as they are breaking left and right after the one year warranty ends. Fitbits started as a cheap fitness tracking system, the new watches are still cheaply made, just at an insane expensive price. Go check out the Blaze support forum if you dont believe me. These watch screens were faulty and fitbit has never done antrbifn for the thousands who own them, now as paperweights.

Per Fitbit, they are looking to roll out an update in the fall for the
Versa and Ionic watches that will allow for the watch to remain visible for
at least 60 sec.

I used to own two models of Fitbit smartwatches and am waiting to see if you ever have the option available to leave the screen on before I decide to purchase another one when my Pebble dies and I'm unable to replace it because the company doesn't exist anymore. I like my Pebble smartwatch because the screen is always on. I don't have to shake my arm or tap it to make it come on. As a nurse, this is very important to me so I can check pulse rates or record the date/time quickly while using my other arm to document or assess the patient. My Pebble only has to be charged weekly but I wouldn't mind to recharge the Fitbit more often just to have the option of keeping the screen on all the time. Thank you for your consideration of this request.

As a nursing student it really needs to be fixed I want to be a dedicated fitbit user I love mine but I need to be able to take care of patients!

I completely agree with this suggestion. As a Paramedic who needs the clock to keep track of the seconds for patients' heart rates, and a Firefighter who uses the fitness tracker to stay in shape; both myself and many others need a longer lasting display. Not only on the Ionic and Versa, but on the upcoming Charge 3 that will be coming out soon. I will be interested in purchasing the Charge 3 if you add this feature, and if not then I'll look for other options. Thank you.

I would like the clock to stay on permanently, so using e-ink would be helpful. I loved my Pebble which had that and since FitBit bought Pebble, I would think that they should be able to duplicate some of those features.

Very disappointed with how quickly the display goes away on my alta hr. What good is a continuous heart rate monitor if I cannot use it to watch my heart rate fluctuate over a period of 1-5 minutes? The display only lasts for 2 seconds.... cannot easily/safely be used to gauge heart rate while riding my bike. I will likely be returning mine 😞

The Fitbit face should show the information selected by the user.

And it should stay on for of the time selected by the user!

Very disappointed that the feature is not  available.

I bought my Alfa HR to track my heart rate during exercise. Didn't realise that I cannot continuously watch my HR. Why can't I turn on display permanent? I don't care if I have to charge more often, it's my choice isn't it?

Please add this option.

Please also add this feature for alta HR.

I just returned my new Ionic for a credit because the watch isn't always on.  With the Surge, the time was always visible and that's a minimum requirement for me.  I don't have time to flick or twist my wrist or tap the screen, especially when I am riding on my bike.  This is a safety issue.  In addition, when in meetings, it can be really awkward to have to flick or tap rather than just nonchalantly looking at the watch.  I don't mind charging the battery more often in return for having the time always visible.  My current Surge needs to be replaced and I would gladly buy a new one if you were still making it.  Instead I'll keeping using the old Surge until it stops working or until you come out with something that will work for me.

If you select an exercise mode, such as “Bike” and select the “tools” Gear symbol in the corner, scroll down, you can select to have the display stay on for your exercise session. It will stay on as long as it is in this mode. Battery life takes a hit. An 75 minute bike ride takes the charge down from 90% to 50%. So as long as you take relatively short bike rides, this will work for you.

Just bought the Ionic last week as my Surge was on its deathbed. The lack of a dimly lit always on time and ability to tap for the back lit clock overnight like the Surge is my only complaint so far. I do not have a clock near my bed and stopped looking at my phone for the time with my Surge. Still figuring out how to adjust to this change.

After reading this thread I'm glad I am not in the medical field!

Being able to check my heart rate for 15-30 seconds after a weight lifting set is a requirement. Please add this functionality.

If I am doing vitals, I need the seconds or even the stopwatch to stay on for more than 2 seconds...I need it for up to a minute.  It's a watch, I should be able to see it longer than 2 seconds.

Another request for the screen on longer.

This stops me recommending a charge 3 to anyone else.

I'd like to be able to set a longer timeout in the app, possibly upto on permanently. If the button would then turn the screen off then great.

Disappointing to see that this has been requested for years and no change.

Yes, please Fitbit, hear our cries! I am a nursing student and really wanted to get a Fitbit to wear at the hospital. Now I've got the Fitbit and have realized I'll have to leave it at home to go to work or clinicals because it's useless to me if I can't view a second timer on my watch-face to count vitals on my patients (heart rate, respirations, etc.). The timer function is great but not going to work in emergencies or how frequently and quickly we need to be able to see it in the medical field. Please let us adjust the time-out function. I'm okay with less battery life.

I’m another nurse who doesn’t want to have to wear a watch too.  I have the versa and would like to be able to have the option to stay on for up to 60 seconds. I am considering changing to the Apple Watch when this fails in the future. So far I have had all Fitbit products and have upgraded several times because all my data is in the app,

Let's add the Charge 3 to the list of devices getting these improvements (even a 10 second screen on duration would be better than nothing)

Hi nurses need second hands and the charge 3 dims much to quickly we need the option of at least 20 seconds to get 15. Please it’s really useless to me without it.

Hi @Tinwindow! Thank you for sharing your idea. I found this suggestion that is very similar to yours, this is why I moved your idea here. Please do not forget to give kudos by clicking on the thumbs up button.

Please add ‘always on’ ability to the charge 3 with a more minimal watchface (to use minimal battery on the oled when setting is on). I don’t care if I have to charge the battery more often.
