Let us delete in-app notifications/messages

This is clogging up my iphone. I have a year or more worth of useless Fitbit notification messages I'd like to shed. I saw a 'solved' notice in here from a year ago stating it was resolved by stating there is no solution. This is simply ignoring the myriads of request/votes of customer requests/concerns to fix it. Fitbit should have had a REAL solution by now and apparently do not. In reality this problem has not been resolved but simply is being ignored by the company/moderator. The solution 'solved' to put a vote in ideas does not address the real concern or issue at hand. What's the point of a community forum if Fitbit does not listen to its customers? The thread should have flagged Fitbit/moderator to produce a real fix, we're still waiting.

I couldn’t agree more.  I should change my phone just so I can get around this issue?  Horse**ahem**!  FB should fix it already. It’s been way too long. Anyway, it’s cheaper to buy an Apple Watch.

Good idea, but check if the iPhone is compatible, the newer Apple watches only work with the newer IPhones.

Hi @Danielle0062, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here.

This is ridiculous. I have exactly one notification in my 'inbox' ... from 6 months ago - undeletable.

And I have over 100 from 8/2017-11/2017 that also can't be deleted. Just ridiculous!!!!

I was recently told there is no way to delete the first 100 notifications.  Please change that.  It is not worth it to me to receive notifications and messages if they only clog up my phone.  I need to be able to delete them once they’ve been read.

Good morning,

I fact this feature does not exist on my iPhone. There is no way to delete
notifications unless I delete the app. When I delete the app and reload it
the notifications are still there. I have turned off notifications since
all they do is take up space on my phone. If you know of a way to delete
them I would appreciate it if you would let me know what the process is.

If you go on fitbit’s website, you can turn off future notifications, but as this very long thread attests, there is no way to get rid of previous ones showing in the app. This is pretty egregious, since those notifications that you get by default are silly things about hitting your step goal, etc., which once we learn how to use the device and the app are pretty pointless.

For that matter, if you scroll back through exercises, or food, you’ll see that the records of them are all there - downloaded from fitbit’s cloud in some way they don’t explain, so we can’t really tell what the impact on local storage is. If you turned on tracking for a run or walk, you’ll even see the route there, which would easily allow someone to tell where you live. I don’t know if we can delete these in bulk on the website, but would seem to be a good idea to be able too - so far as I can tell, there is at least a year or two’s worth of personal data there.

Probably, keeping this information on hand is part of Fitbit’s business model - but I doubt that it is GDPR compliant, and is pretty creepy.

This has been a user complaint for years .I keep submitting my suggestion. It doesn't look like they are actively trying to inckinc this feature.

I agree, I believe some of the data you can delete individually, others like notifications can not be deleted at all.
I can't see why I need all my activities saved for the entire time I've owned my Fitbit. There should be a delete all.

And they never will!!!

Please let us have the facility to delete these messages. I have many taking up valuable space in my phone that are so old. They definitely do not disappear after 30 days!

And they do not disappear after 16 months either!! Just ridiculous!!!

Couldn't agree more with all of the above and the comments.

My most recent notification on my app is on the day my sister died, the hour before she died. It is a constant reminder of the worst day of my life.  I figured deleting this was a quick fix, but now reading this forum and seeing that it isn't/fitbit doesn't consider it a priority, I'm really frustrated and disappointed. I'll be deleting the app altogether and probably transition to something like an Apple Watch or Garmin.

I need to thank you for your heartbreaking comment regarding how notifications on FitBit devices can be cruel and inappropriate when we are not “allowed” to delete them! I’m done with FitBit and now have an Apple Watch! Thank you!

I’ve just been bought a Charge 3 and have notifications on my Fitbit app from when I had a Flex a whole year ago. I now constantly have a red dot on the notifications tab which I’m wondering is either an error or that there’s no more room to push notifications through as I have a year’s worth of notifications from various groups I have joined.

Is it true that none of these can be deleted?

Thank you.

YES! We’ve been asking fitbit about these, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. So since my fitbit is dying (no more LED’s) I decided instead of upgrading to a new fitbit, I bought an Apple watch and I’m happy with it.

The best we can do is turn off all notifications or buy another companies tracker. Can't delete them.

Yes it’s true. We’ve been complaining about this for 2 years plus.  We can’t understand why Fitbit won’t fix their app.  I was going to upgrade to the new Versa when they had a sale over the holidays. But because of this issue I decided to wait until my current one dies and then I’ll go buy an Apple or Samsung.

I certainly haven't been able to delete any of mine. I would assume the red
dot means you are maxed out but I have no idea for sure. When my current
fitbit dies there will be no more for me. This tread has been out here for
a long time and no one from the company has said boo about it. Seems they
care little about their clients concerns or equipment.

I fully concur with your assessment regarding FitBit management! Sad when a callous company don’t care about their custmers!

Unfortunately we will continue to wait until we replace our Fitbits with another company’s tracker and then stop following this thread. New customers will continue to be nonplussed with this problem long after we’ve bought other companies trackers.
