Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

I've had my Blaze since November of 2016,  I've been watching this forum for a while.   They aren't going to fix this, so when when mine dies or July comes, I'm getting an Apple Watch or a Garmin device.

Such a shame that Fitbit can't make a simple change,  especially concidering that firmware updates have been released for this device with out a fix for the paused workout issue.

Pretty much echoing the sentiments of the last poster on this subject.

Fitbit clearly have no intention of fixing this issue, as frustrating as it
is for an end user and as much as I would like to consider future Fitbit
products especially given their recent acquisitions, I think I will vote
with my wallet as opposed to an ideas suggestion forum next time.

Should I ever consider a Fitbit product in the future, I will do so with
the knowledge that the features on release are probably going to be the
only features I'll ever see.

I was using the Blaze for the first time today, while playing Tennis. I was wearing a long sleeved thermal base layer which seemed to keep pausing the exercise. I played for about 4 hours and the Tennis workout only recorded the first 5 minutes or so. Makes the Blaze unusable for sports or any activities. A "lock" option would make things much easier.

I just bought my Surge and tried it out yesterday. Right off the bat I noticed the inability to keep the heart rate monitor on display; major disappointment!  I thought I was purchasing a state of the art heart rate monitor, not a watch.  This needs to be remedied by Fitbit quickly.  I see where people have been complaining about this for two years now and nothing has been done......that's not exactly exemplary customer service.  A feature that enables the user to lock on whichever screen they choose should be an easy fix.  It could be followed by a fix that enables the user to make the Surge revert to whichever screen the user chooses after 15 seconds.

After seeing Fitbit's lack of response to hundreds of user complaints I am considering sending this back to the store.  Please tell me why I should not.

i woiukd take the watch back as it's not fit for the purpose. They will
never fix the problem, Fitbit don't care what the customer thinks.
It used to stay any screen you wanted but they changed it a few months
after release with an update. If mine had been within the return date I
would have taken it back.

If this is important to you, you should return the watch. I can tell you that Fitbit will NEVER fix this. They have absolutely no concern for what their users want and are completely unresponsive. I had various reasons why I decided to keep my Surge instead of returning it, but I will never buy another watch from them and I will never recommend them to anyone.

Yes.. it's quite unusable for active sports.. I play hockey 2-3 times a week.. and the tracker keeps pausing/stopping the workouts due to the back button being pressed.. I would love to track my heartrate/calories during the games, but cannot due to the inadvertant pressing of the buttons.

Navis,

Thanks for your comment. I am really hoping for this feature!

It is hard to understand what motivates a manufacturer to innovate, as in this case.  Provide users with a Touchscreen Lock.  Simple.  Or, seems simple enough.  Unless I missed something, the vendor appears deaf and mute to the user base.  605 voters have requested this simple feature, without having been paid or otherwise remunerated for providing the vendor with feedback.  Significantly, over 400 responses have been personally conveyed, pleading for some relief.  When someone provides this type of user feedback, they should receive gift certificates redeemable for price discounts towards future purchases of the vendor's products.  Instead, what do we get ? Nada.  My daughter paid $250 for my Surge, as a Christmas gift.  I only wear it as a compliment to her.  Otherwise, it requires too much user effort, intervention to make it a practical tool, for me.  When friends ask me about my Surge, I share the sense of this thread with them.  They are as free to act on my recommendations, as is Fitbit.

Along with the touch screen lock that already had been suggested on the blaze, I think a button lock would be great too. Everytime I'm in a workout and do push ups with the blaze on my left wrist I always press the right side buttons with the back of my wrist.  My solution is to wear the blaze on my right wrist but it would be nice to have a software solution.

I would definitely return it if that feature is important to you. It was to
me, and they never fixed it going on two years.

I got an Apple Watch and I'm SO happy with it! I can leave it on the heart
rate screen or whatever screen I want. And it has way more functionality
than the Fitbit.

Almost a year since the first post on this issue and still have not resolved. This happens to me while doing yoga, burpees, push ups, running....basically any activity which defeats the purpose of using the product. I had to tell a friend not to buy one due to this issue. Create a lock screen button, get it done! You are losing business!

Honestly disgusted by the ignorance regarding this issue by @Fitbit and I can promise now that I will never purchase a Fitbit product again and will strongly recommend nobody else buys a Fitbit product either.

I am feeling the same way. I am so disappointed in them.

A week or two ago, my lower right button broke and I'm actually NOT going to fix it!

At first I thought it was a software update, but I can't do anything to make that button work again, and I'm not going to try any harder.

When/if Fitbit rolls out a legit solution to the accidental pauses that come from no button locking, I'll maybe get it fixed.

Meanwhile, I'll push the left button to wake the screen, and press the pause on the screen 🙂

I regularly attend exercise classes throughout the week and the Blaze has been amazing at tracking my workout sessions. HOWEVER, due to the touch screen it keeps pausing itself during workout and at times I have missed the vibration and it has been left paused for half an hour or more, which is really frustrating. That or I get distracted from my exercise due to the vibration, lose focus and have to start it again. I do a lot of high intensity and HIIT training so am usually wearing exercise gloves or boxing gloves which cause the accidential touch to the screen. Please make a feature to lock the screen during exercise mode, this is literally my only downfall with the Blaze - otherwise I love it!

This has to change soon. Every time I get into a press up or plank position - PAUSE. If I am squatting with a barbell over my shoulders whilst holding the bar - PAUSE. So so frustrating.

I agree completley. I go for 30 minute runs and after I'm done, I find that it only tracked 15 minutes of it. Im hoping that by posting fitbit will either address it or fix it. Hopefully both

I recently purchased a FitBit Blaze. I love everyting about this device except one thing. When I play ice hockey the workout mode constantly turns itself off. I'm assuming it's because my hockey gloves brush against the screen. I cannot make it through one shift on the ice without it turning itself off. How do I set this so that the screen is locked and continously tracks my "workout"? I skate 3-4 times a week and accounts for over half my exercise each week so I REALLY need for the watch to work correctly!! As advanced as this device is, I'm quite shocked that this is even an issue and would imagine it would be an easy fix.  Thanks!!!

Bedouin - in all seriousness, your best bet is to return the Blaze and try another brand.  Complaints on this issue have existed for a long time and Fitbit is obviously not going to correct the problem.  I still have mine but it is worthless for tracking boxing, and even has trouble with running when I wear a jacket.

The only fix I have found is to wear the watch upside down
The blaze does not have a screen lock
Received an Apple Watch for Christmas I have ditched the Fitbit as they seem to ignore any feedback
