We really need the ability to add food and water via Alexa. It would truly make the Fitbit platform very powerful for the user. Until this feature is added the Alexa Fitbit skill is close to worthless. Please add this and keep up the good work!
I would like to see this too. I just set up the Dot but learned it can only 'tell' be data that has already been entered. I would like to add my food through it and it would be great if it could sync my Fitbit too.
I agree and you shouldn't need a echo device to perform this however a pseudo Alexa recorder on your Fitbit ... Perhaps initiated with a triple tap or diagonal swipe or configurable by user that records your voice snippet only to be uploaded when in Bluetooth range of the Fitbit app and then ultimately logged into your account t like steps and other metrics are. So yes we would require a microphone array on the Fitbit devices. thanks
I was so excited to see the Fitbit skill on the Alexa app. I was sorely disappointed to find out that I can’t use that skill to add food or water to Fitbit. It would be super helpful to track these items that I currently neglect tracking because I have to stop what I’m doing and open the app and track it manually.
I would word this request a little more generically: allow Alexa to log FitBit information (of any kind). For example, I would especially like to tell Alexa to log my current weight and fat %. As far as I can tell, currently the FitBit skill only provides read-only access (to information that's already been logged either by the FitBit device or app). To me this skill is, currently, little more than a novelty -- I just don't find it any more useful or easy than looking at my FitBit device or the phone app. Inputting data (like food, water, weight, fat %, etc.), however, is, relatively speaking, more difficult to do than viewing data, and so it's easy to put off or not do at all. Being able to tell Alexa to log information for me would make this much easier. This would also make me use the FitBit (device and app) a lot more than I do now...
I think the new versa 2 with Alexa should add where you can ask Alexa to log your food instead of you going into the Fitbit app and logging it. This would be an amazing feature.
Hi @BriaBrown! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similarrequest. Post a comment or click on the thumbs-up to show your support.
Hi @Gamingguru, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.
I think they should have added on Fitbit versa 2 where you can ask Alexa to log your water intake instead of going in to the Fitbit app and log it yourself that would be an amazing feature to have.
Hi @BriaBrown. Thanks for taking the time to share this great idea about being able to log your water through Alexa on your Versa 2. This feature suggestion already exists, so I’ve moved your post here. That way we can keep this board organized and clearly understanding which idea other members are voting for. Watch this space for future updates!
I'd love to be able to log water from my Versa rather than through the phone app (or via Alexa): A "Water" app. I see this being similar to the existing "Exercise" app, which when pressed would instead show you the quick add options that currently exist. i.e. Glass (250ml), Bottle (500ml), Large Bottle (750ml).
A key benefit being that you wouldn't need to pull out your phone or remember for later. You could do it quickly through a few discrete taps, while standing in the kitchen, commuting, or whenever.
Hi @euqinom, this is a good idea. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request. A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.
Thanks @YojanaFitbit. While similar, I just wanted to clarify that my suggestion was an on device Fitbit App for logging water and _not_ a new Alexa functionality.
There used to be an app you could install on Versa (the original) and then add water using one of the two side buttons. Not sure how Versa 2 would handle that, not having those buttons. Personally I think that was stupid. Those two buttons allow a lot of functionality with the press of a button or long press of a button. But that's just me. I also think there should be an option to start tracking an activity, like oh say DRIVING with the press of a button and then Fitbit will disregard any steps recorded during that 'activity'. I drive a school bus and my Versa, and Charge HR before that, routinely gave me 10,000 steps a day when I drove the bus. In my car it doesn't record steps. the bus is a very bumpy ride and the steering wheel movements are registered as steps. But that's an entirely different rant!
Please please please allow Alexa to log food into the Fitbit app !! It already has access to it so what would it take to do this? I’m pretty sure it does it for my fitness pal app. And please add it across the devices. I have a charge 3 and would be bummed if you added it only to newer versions. Thank you
Yes very true and very well said I'm upset cuz that's the only reason I bought the watch well one of the many reasons I bought the watch SUPER DISSAPOINTED 🤦:male_sign:

Alexa voice assistant on Fitbit and Fitbit Versa 3 and other fitbits should be able to assist users by helping to log food intake for the Fitbit app data accumulation in any daily given day.
