Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

What I don't understand is how these developers can get this so wrong. The market for these hybrid watches (smartwatch & fitness tracker) is growing by like 9% annually (15% for older people).. The new Galaxy smart watches are just as bad. They don't track steps accurately and they don't monitor heart rate accurately. In actuality, they are grossly inaccurate. On their forum they have an equal number of people complaining about those items. It seems that when it comes to internal hardware, Garmin is about the only manufacturer that gets it right (so we know it's possible), but the quality is lacking on the aesthetics and casing and straps. It's like each manufacturer is getting one or two different,  major things wrong. I just don't understand why it's so difficult to get it right.

I agree. The only reason I bought a Fitbit was the band because my Garmin caused a rash. They didn’t have a band I could change to like the mesh. No rash but now no screen. Unacceptable and very disappointing. I can’t recommend my charger 3 to anyone as it is.

I agree wholeheartedly.  I need at least 15 seconds to count heartbeats of patients. Also I’m old and blind and often don’t wear my glasses while exercising, so it’s super frustrating.  I’m still within my time period and am seriously debating returning it.

Fitbit! Just got you as a gift and was excited until I realized how short the screen display stays on. What’s up with that??!!  Give the charge 3 the ability to have a longer timeout option. It stays on for 2 seconds which isn’t long enough to read the screen!! Very annoying and I’m considering returning watch and getting another brand.

Adding my name to the group requesting this feature. Screen on time isn't long enough to use this product in any reasonable way. Please address with a fix and provide owners with screen on time options!

Very strange Fitbit removed this simple basic function from their newest most advanced product. This must be a mistake. It needs to be corrected as soon as possible! It can't be hard to add for professional programmers.

One wonders where it all went wrong.  Is it the programmers or market research? Or the lack of it?  Maybe the lack of technical skill? Even the NASA contracts goes to the cheapest!

I am pretty sure Fitbit just doesn’t care. Been complaining for over 2 months as has everyone else. Wish I had just returned mine.

I didn’t want to do it. But, I got the smaller Apple Watch. There’s an app on it that allows you to see your steps on the screen at all times. Just like the Fitbit charge 2 I returned. The Apple Watch was only $99 more than the Fitbit. Definitely worth it.

Can we see a pic of it on your wrist please.
I have considered buying but feel it would still have too much presence on a thin female wrist.
Appreciated

Just got FitBit Charge 3 for early Christmas and so sad that it times out before I can read it with 50-year old eyes.  I asked my techie husband and he said, "It's just a setting -- let me see."  Well, THERE IS NO SETTING to change the screen timeout.  WTF FitBit?!?  Can you release the source code so he can fix it for you?

I would gladly give up a couple days of battery life to be able to read the screen.

Hey FitBit, with nearly 500 comments about the ridiculously short screen time on our charge 3’s, it really looks as if you just don’t care about your customers.  I hope people considering purchasing a fitness tracker have access to these posts before making their decision.  BTW, are your sales what you were hoping for over the Holidays?

Should never have bought this junk where basic options are not available and the HR in inaccuracies. Serves me right to believe in a company instead of returning the device when I had time to. Never again FitBit and I'll make sure to post and comment everywhere I can for people not to buy this thing.

I totally agree with many of the other posts here! I am an RN in  a critical care unit. I would like to use my new Fitbit as a watch using the the clock face with a second hand to count patients respirations and pulse rate over 60 seconds. I would love to use it in this way and also be able to track my own activity during my work day! I realize this will require me to charge it more often bit I am very ok with that. I hope you will take these suggestions seriously and consider making the time the clock stays on adjustable. Thanks for your consideration.

I agree! The screen display time is far too short...

In addition to more time need the ability to increase the font on texts.  Can put readers on as you are jogging. Such a negative customer experience especially since the charge 2 was legible and didn’t need enlarging.

The extremely short time out for the clock screen is ruining the experience. Please add this setting ASAP.

I am also an RN and have the same problem. Deciding if I should return this Christmas present or just wear a regular watch at work. Even  a 3 or 5 minute delay before shutting off would be better. Apple may be the other option but I like the slim fit of the charge 3

I also agree a full minute staying lit would be ideal for taking vitals!!!
