Maintain Fitbit web dashboard going forward

As an older user, my eyesight and hand eye coordination are poor. So, I prefer the website dashboard on my PC. That dashboard keeps directing us to the mobile app. Please assure you will continue maintaining both as I cannot rely solely on the mobile app. Please consider all of your customers when providing tools. Many thanks!

I can no longer sync my Charge 2 to Fitbit.com on my Windows laptop as of mid-July. Before then, I could sync thru a dongle with no problem, regardless of whether the Website was outdated and unsopported. I didn't care. It worked. It no longer works now.

I am not only not happy about the Dashboard's elimination, and I think it hurts Google/Fitbit ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance. I, for one used the dashboard daily because I can not see stuff on my phone most of the time, and I have a big phone. Google/Fitbit should reconsider this decision.

I''m so disappointed with Fitbit taking the dashboard from my computer.  I used it primarily to track my food, checking sodium, fiber, protein and carbs.  Now, it appears that I am no longer tracking sodium or fiber.  Also, I'm not seeing the breakdown of foods individually.  Weight Watchers moved their app off the computer as well.  I believe it cost them a lot of members, just as Fitbit could be having the same issue.

If you want a new Fitbit or want to view the information you need, which is why you bought one, Google is forcing you to get an account with them, get a membership with them and buy expensive phones from them that are compatible with the program they make which is designed to not work on computers that are made by other companies.

This helps Google make more money by selling more of their phones and software, because of giving customers no choice.

How do I regularly view things like exercises, sleep and heart rates throughout the day, night and exercises if I don't even own a phone that can work with their new program?

If the web based dashboard worked and has been used frequently by so many people, what good customer focussed reason was their for removing it?

I am totally upset with FitBit for removing the dashboard. I have been a faithful user for a decade and depend on FitBit to help me stay is shape, stay active and maintain healthy weight. Now, I cannot see the progress I make with weight because the iphone is way too small to view the graph. I cannot evaluate my walks because the splits are not available. The only use I have now for FitBit is to keep track of my walks and to record daily weight. However, since this information is not available to me then I see no reason to continue with FitBit. I sure hope the folks in charge will reconsider their decision and reverse their action.

Please bring back the web dashboard. The app is awful and I lost weekly fitness tracking that I could see at a glance on the web dashboard. I've been a fitbit user for 12 years and loved the web interface. Not everyone likes apps and Not everyone wants to stare at the small screen on our phones. I use my phone to make calls, maybe text, but everything else is done on my laptop. Phone apps are not all that!

I agree! Please bring back the website option.

I sync through the current phone app and used to view higher resolution
data on my laptop until Google said they don't care and killed that
capability Like hundreds or perhaps thousands I won't forget and
Bing.com is a good way to search for better fitness trackers.

I want a web UI. I want to create meals. This is inexcusable, and I won't be buying a fitbit or subscribing to premium again.

I am not sure that they ARE reading. I am wondering if they have an algorithm that searches out certain words. I am betting that they will never go back to what we had. I am betting that they will come up with a new alternative that may do the same and certainly costs more.

Very insightful.  And folk call me cynical!  I think you have just about nailed it there.  Just incase you're listening Google/Fitbit. £5 lifetime or £0.50 per month is what I'll pay for a reinstated/improved/maintained version !Sent from my Galaxy

Since Fitbit took away and deleted the dashboard:  I have posted a few comments and been following the comments.  Someone mentioned the App on a windows computer.  So I went to the basement and fired up my Windows 10 desktop with the app on it.  It doesn't work.  I try to log on and says authorization failed.  Forgot password doesn't work either. Another dead end.  I tried to get the Fitbit app on my newer laptop but it's not even available.  So if you have it already installed from before July 1, it doesn't work.  I telephoned Fitbit today.  Calling from the United States I only speak English, I got someone that didn't speak English very well but was somewhat understandable and not much help anyhow.  This is about the 3rd time I telephoned Fitbit.  I asked her why my old App doesn't work and she said they no longer support it. I asked her why the dashboard was taken away and why no one asked us and she replied, Fitbit did this change so they can offer better technology with a phone based app.  She kept going on about the "app" and it's pretty much the way it is or going to be moving forward.  I firmly believe they have no intentions on bringing back the website dashboard.  I told her I am older and cannot see the small screen on my cell phone and I need a keyboard on a computer due to arthritis in my bent fingers and I got the feeling she could of cared less.  Just going on about the (stupid) app.  I asked if I got a Google chromebook (like I'd buy one anyhow...NOT) and she said it won't work on that.  So the only thing I could do is purchase a tablet or iPad if I wanted a larger screen.  Well if I happen to have $700+ laying around I sure wouldn't be buying an iPad I'd be shopping for a new fitness tracker that offers web based availability.  I belong to 2 local running groups and we meet weekly.  Majority seem to have the fitness watches that begin with the letter "G" and they said there is a website.  There are some of us with Fitbits and have been with Fitbit for years and years.  We are trying to cope!  I also belong to several Facebook running and fitness groups and people will often post about which fitness tracker they should get and I reply if you want to use a cellular phone ONLY with an APP, then get a Fitbit. But if you want to use a computer with a keyboard and look at your exercise activity you'll have to get something else.  Then about 500 comments follow after that!  And finally, I asked the fitbit customer service person today if I am the only one that's contacted them by phone and she proudly said, "Oh we have been getting tons of complaints and if you give me you're email I can send you the links to follow!"  I told her I'm already on it.  With that being said, I do believe Google Fitbit has no intentions on bringing back the beloved web based dashboard.  I'll suck it up as a loss and move on!  And that makes two of us because the hubs is in the same boat as me.

@vicki1960  If you have your password stuff sorted have a look at this web site.  As part of another post thread a user created a Web Dashboard to help you look at your data on a computer screen.  It is a good implementation but not as good as the original, not the devs fault, but apparently changes to the api (the linking module provided by FitBit).   https://dashboard.exercise.quest. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks @AllanSyd. This looks like a promising alternative. Where is this thread?

@honu3723 Hi there here is the thread ….. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Fitbit-com-Dashboard/Fitbit-com-web-dashboard-is-transitioning-to-th....  But I cannot give you the specific post.  If you search, using a search engine, for exercise.quest the topic heading you should be able to find the post from the user.  Hope this helps.  It just shows it is not as hard to maintain a Web Dashboard as FitBit seem to think.

And to finish with a misquote from a Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie.  Help, help, they are trying to oppress us!

@AllanSyd. nobody said that it was hard to maintain the dashboard, Google simply said that they are removing it. Bmi sleep stages, heart rate detail, exercises.

As for the 3rd party site you mentioned, it will get your data through Fitbit's API. There is DLS orbit data that the site will not have data to.

Yes @grad73 you use to sync through an app on the PC. We are only able to sync through an app on the phone. It does not have to be your phone. A family members phone, with the Fitbit app that you are logged in will work. Every 20 minutes the app tries to sync

@honu3723 No worries.

@Rich_laur I posted that info a few posts ago and did not bother reposting it.
