Make Heart Rate Data export in Excel/CSV format

Please add the heart rate data to the reports that can be downloaded/exported.  The ones for the activity and sleep are perfect but since I have a pacemaker I really need to have one to print out for my cardiologist showing how often I rise above the set pace.

Thank you

I am here because I was directed by tech support to provide suggestion. I recently inquired as to why I can't see or get heart rate data together with the other general data being provided via data export in CVS format. Given the volume of requests for this data I don't know why,at this juncture, I need to make the suggestion. Recently I was given access to the data but when it arrived it was in JSON format which I had never heard of. Upon research discovered that this format needs further conversion before it can be read in products such as Excel; at a cost to me of $120/yr.  Folks please move this from `under consideration' to reality. The subject is a few years old at this point!

I would be stunned if you cannot find a free program to convert from JSON
to an excel file. Such a program is trivial to write, and I could put it
together in a couple of hours if you can't find one yourself.

After doing a bit of research, it appears that Excel 2016 and later can import JSON using Get & Transform functionMight take a bit of experimenting though. How do you get the hear rate data in JSON?

Send me a JSON file with the data in it and I will show you how.
Alternatively, if you have Linux or Windows Services Linux (WSL, pronounced
"Weasel"), there is a tool, jq, that will tell you.

I wish you all luck after several years of asking for this I gave up and have gotten rid of Fitbits

I am joining a long debate here and read many previous comments, and I add my voice to the chorus that it would be very useful for me to have a record of my resting heart rate over the many years that I have used Fitbit.

There are 4 years of comments in this thread - 31 pages worth, asking for this particular feature. At this point, it's best to accept that there's some sort of horrendous failure in this company's customer service system. With this level of support for a feature, someone should be able to give a yes/no answer. I get that it might not be technically feasible. But someone needs to say that. Otherwise, what's the point of having a suggestion system in the first place?

I've worked in IT 25 years now. If this happened at my company, project managers and senior programmers would be lined up in front of our CIO. 750+ comments and counting, and no answers from Fitbit. Utterly ridiculous.

Exactly right.

Fitbit personel: how do we take this further within the Fitbit organisation - i.e. What's the complaints procedure?

I have a heart that runs fast even when I'm resting - but only sometimes. I have had all sorts of tests and been assured that it is beneign but I've had all these tests done when my heart is behaving itself! Since having my Fitbit, it's been helpful and useful to know when these events occur. I want to show my doctor in due course. It would be so useful if this was something we could download to a csv.

I'm using the blaze and have been interested in tracking my heart data due to a prolonged tachycardic state I've suffere from in the past.
Of all the data I sincerely only have interest in that as it's the most useful medically. Being able to export the other data as a CSV seems pretty useless to me as it doesn't tell the full picture. After paying over €250 for this thing I hardly think it's too much to ask to be able to access my own heart data and be able to use it however I see fit.

I sincerely plead with you to allow this feature as it's my chief regret for buying your product at all.

Fitbit needs to have a feature where it can export the heart rate through time when you exercise. The app already plots the heart rate through time, and it shouldn't be that hard to export that data as a txt file or something. This would help so much with tracking cardio performance over time. I would like to do an analysis on my running performance, and this would help a lot.

Hi @AKULK, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about here: Add Heart Rate Data to Export (and more than 30 days of data). Keep adding your suggestions!

After this many years, seems like my vote will be pretty pointless - but the more HR data we can export, the better. Resting Heart Rate export should be a MINIMUM feature - it can be hugely valuable in recognizing relative fitness levels and even potentially warning of overtraining!

Exporting HR data from workouts would also be nice.

I would like to see more detail in the heart rate graph in the app.  Unless you're right on one of the major tick marks, it is almost impossible to determine the correct heart rate on the chart. I think the user should have an option to enter their end points for the graph and a minor tick point as well.  And all the heart rate data should also be exportable, that way I could create my own charts for analysis.  This information is very helpful for anyone tracking their heart rate for health purposes.

The heart rate is not exported? How stupid!

I couldn't believe that this would be the case, but then I just exported my ride from yesterday. Lots of data, including calories, intensity level, trigger method, etc., but, yes indeed no heart rate. This must be a policy decision, not a technical issue.

This is my heart and my data, please make it available to me!

I am highly interested in being able to export detail heart rate data from my Inspire HR. It would be extremely useful to be able to see the minute-by-minute detailed information about heart rate.  That feature would be attractive to athletes and coaches, but also the public health sectors looking to use FitBit devices to evaluate (outside the clinic) a patients response to a new change in medication or exercise routine.  In looking on the community forums, it seems that I am not the only one interested in getting this detail data (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Web-API-Development/Intraday-data-now-immediately-available-to-perso...).

That’s an interesting idea and could be useful, thanks for sharing this suggestion @jraperWe look forward to hearing what other community members think about having the option to export minute to minute heart rate data. 🤖

I've asked for the feature several times more than a year ago - looks like Fitbit has no intention of doing it... Will switch company for my next device.

I think my heart rate is too low when I sleep so I wanted to look in the past but as you all noticed this is not possible with fitbit. Incredible!!! The data is there, its my health I am talking about not a lousy feature !

It is critical that fitbit owners have the ability to export (download) continuous heart rate data.  This would allow users to share this important data with healthcare providers in addition to allowing those training the ability to better assess their performance.  I will say personally that I was just about to purchase a new fitbit and when I discovered that this feature is still not available, I will now  most likely go ahead and purchase a tracker from a different company.  I really enjoy many of the fitbit features but the fact that this issue has still not been addressed is sending me elsewhere.

I believe health data, including heart rate tracking data, is "data pertaining to the health status of a data subject" as seen in recital 35 and art. 4(15) of the GDPR. That would mean it's a sub-category of Personal Data. And you can do a GDPR data request for that.

If enough people request this data from data-protection-office at fitbit dot com, perhaps they will build an option to automate this.

I have seen other who commented commented in this thread that have already done this.  I agree that you should

I did this and received some data that I could not exploit withouit programming knowledge. I'm extremely disappointed with the way fitbit is ignoring this discussion. Thre are 765 comments on this thread and we should be listened to.
