Make "Meditation" a separate category from exercise

When you complete an exercise the app asks if you want to mark it as a completed exercise. I think meditation should be tracked a separate item and should not count towards your exercise goal. If there was a separate meditation weekly goal that would be awesome and then you go track your mediations there.

I agree.  Meditation already has a goal and tracking section. Don’t automatically log meditation in the exercise section.  Thank you.

I just started using the mindfulness feature and love the goal ability but as many others said it is not exercise! This is really hindering my use because exercise is what I need to improve the most and it looks like I'm doing better than I am. I'm tirn between not using the mindfulness goal of just dealing with the wrong stats.

Please please change this! This seems like an oversight to begin with.

Thank you!

I will not be using the fitbit mindful apps until this is fixed, because as others say it misreports my active days which is a key tracking feature I want to know at a glance to motivate myself.

I agree with all other posts here, meditation should absolutely not be logged under exercise as that skews tracking for weekly exercise sessions. Also there's no way to add a meditation without adding it as exercise. This would also be most helpful as people will not always use Fitbit for meditation. If the feature is going to be available on the app for our beneficial use, it should work properly and intelligently.

Agreed. It makes no sense to log meditation as exercise.

  1. I agree. Please take it out of the exercises.  This should be its own separate category and maybe even some different metrics developed under it.
  2. Also, why doesn't it get logged? It is not consistent.

Though I am grateful that you allow manual recording of meditation sessions, this does not belong in the Exercise category. It belongs in the Mindfulness category and should count towards the Mindfulness goal. I imagine that it was easy to add it to Exercise but it is not an exercise. Please consider moving this to Mindfulness.

Hi @MichaelJO. Thanks for sharing this suggestion about having your meditation sessions logs separated from your exercises with us. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. This will help us to keep the forums organized and make sure the suggestions don't get confused, or split a popular vote. Click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

I would like the ability to track midfulness separately from exercise and also the ability to manually log mindfulness since I currently use another app for that purpose.

Meditation is a Mindfulness tool. Surprised why it is included under workout. Most people do meditation for 10-30 minutes and there is no way to log it. Hope manual / automatic logging of meditation is incorporated quickly.

So until now 2021-07, the mediation section is still in exercise???
then what’s the point to have the mindfulness chart???

please modify it ASAP!! It doesn’t make sense at all that mediation is on exercise lol

I just got a new Charge 5 to replace my Inspire HR.  For some time now my meditation was being logged properly under meditation and not exercise.  Today, after restoring my app, it has re-started putting meditation under exercise and not logging it at all under mindfulness.  I gives me the usual prompt 'do you want to log this mindfulness session?" which usually allows me to enter mood rating and then logs it under mindfulness.  Now it gives me the prompt and then it just goes away and gives me no mood prompts and logs it under exercise and my mindfulness sessions are blank.  This ruins a feature I use every single day.  Why did this change back?  Is this unique to the Charge 5?  So frustrating...

I just wanted to report back that the most recent suggestion from customer service worked.  My mindfulness sessions are now being logged correctly.  thanks for the assistance, customer service!

Tip that worked:

For us to further investigate the issue on mindfulness feature, we recommend you to do the following:

  1. Log out from your account.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app on your phone.
  3. Restart your phone.
