Make sleep score optional

Suggested idea is to have the sleep score optional !

We should be able to choose if we have the score or not , I hate feeling like I failed my sleep!

Just another vote to make sleep score optional, please. It’s not useful information. I don’t like the rating, as if my sleep isn’t good enough. I’m considering dropping Fitbit because of it.

Please delete the score, just the data please.

I don't care about a random sleep score. I just want to know how much sleep I am getting on average. That is a something that motivates me and that I understand. A random score does not motivate me at all.

Agree with this. There was nothing wrong with the old dashboard. The new one is terrible. I don’t like scrolling to see things. I don’t care about a sleet score. Just show me how much I slept.

I don't care about percentages, I want to know how hours & minutes I slept & how many hours I was awake and/or restless.  Bring back the old dashboard.

I agree. When users/customers find changes less useful Fitbit should reconsider and at least allow us a choice in look, format etc. As for sleep - hours matter, not random points created by an algorithm.  All in all i am not happy with the new look. It is less functional for me.

How about instead of counting steps, we just have a “step score”? Or instead of calories, we have a “calorie score”? Then again, that wouldn’t make a lot of sense or be useful. JUST LIKE THE STEP SCORE! Please bring back the average hours of sleep per week.

Very true! It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

Please give the option of showing average sleep hours for the week, not the useless sleep score.

A pointless arbitrary number, instead of hours and minutes is worthless to me, please make it optional or even just remove the scoring altogether.

Totally agree that it should be optional to turn it off, as someone who tracks their sleep as part of care for a serious mental health condition not knowing my average sleep for the week is really detrimental to me and my sleep scores are completely useless

I totally agree! The sleep score is useless.

I’ve never posted to a forum, but this update is awful! I’ve worn Fitbit for 4 years straight. Sleep score must be optional and be removed. I have many competitors to choose from who don’t throw in my face that I failed at sleeping unless I get 8 hours. I will give it 30 days, if it isn’t removed I’ll find another brand.

Hi @Rosettaw1, thanks for explaining why you would like to have stop having this option for your sleep. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has a lot of votes. As the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

I have a sleep disorder, and have used a succession of Fitbits for YEARS with great success ... but the new "sleep score" is a 180-degree turn in the WRONG direction.

I will NEVER have "good" sleep according to the stupid Sleep Score--and it is INCREDIBLY demotivating to see what is, for me, a good night's sleep stuck with a big, ugly "FAIR" and a meaningless number.

No, I will NOT upgrade to your bogus Premium plan, if this is a sample of what it offers.  Please give me a way to DELETE Sleep Score and return to my previous data screens.

Very, VERY disappointed with Fitbit.

Asking fellow Fitbit owners, what alternative devices will you recommend, if Fitbit persists in taking us into this blind alley?  Is there a comparable device?

I've worn a LONG succession of Fitbits, for one reason and one reason only:  sleep tracking.  I have a chronic pain condition, rest poorly on the best of days, and NEED specific, non-qualified data that shows me when I slept, how deeply I slept, and what hours I am sleeping.

I hear the Apple Watch is going to offer sleep tracking.  Anybody got plans for the next step, should Fitbit continue down this path against the preferences of it's best customers?

Agreed; however, do not even make the Sleep Score optional … do away with it completely!  The score means absolutely nothing to us.  Bring back the Average Sleep Time for the week, which actually provides us usable data!

Completely agree - it is useless, meaningless and annoying - whoever thought of it should be fired!

Given the overwhelming feedback of doing away with the Sleep Score, when is Fitbit going to take action?

According to the response I received on Fitbit Facebook the sleep score isn't going to be optional. The app doesn't let you post a screen shot showing their blasé attitude towards the consumer. I'm out over $500 for these products over time and now will look into other options.

Agreed, but there is more than one person at Fitbit that let this get through and allow it to happen!

Unbelievable! Why does Fitbit allow us to continue to provide all of this negative feedback without telling us the Sleep Score is staying?! They provide a forum for feedback, but then do not address our concerns.

I can live with the new dashboard, but the sleep score is a major problem.  New studies are showing that for people with insomnia and anxiety, sleep trackers like fitbit can actually make the anxiety/insomnia worse, because users become preoccupied with things like scores.  I have terrible anxiety and insomnia, and the LAST thing I need is to be told that I am “failing” at sleep.

The number also also seems very arbitrary.  What is this score even based on?  How is it calculated?  Although it’s pretty straightforward to track steps or time, a vague “score” like this must be riddled with inaccuracies.  And if not, then I need to see the scientific backing behind this “score.”

Fitbit, I know you want to make updates, but this isn’t the way to go!

Cynthis Ewer (and others), my understanding is that the Apple Watch offers a free "Sleep Cycle" app that gives you much of the same information that Fitbit does, and a Premium version ($29.99 a year) that will give you "deeper insights". Not sure what they are, but I'll trust Apple more than Fitbit at this point.  There's also a slew of third-party apps for the Apple Watch, here's an article that details some. https://www.mobihealthnews.com/content/apples-11-picks-sleep-health-apps

I am just appalled that Fitbit won't even grant us the courtesy of a reply to over 300 comments (and counting). It's bad enough that they forced this ridiculous "sleep score" on us. They are compounding the problem daily by ignoring every single one of us, including those with severe sleep disturbances and anxiety disorders. I've been a faithful Fitbit wearer for over 10 years, and I've tolerated their past (*cough*) "improvements" but this is a bridge too far, and their silence on this matter speaks volumes. Bye Felicia.
