That's a really good idea about obtaining a previous version. Hey, moderators, is there somewhere we can download an official A_P_K of previous versions or do we have to chance it on possibly malware-infected stuff online?
At best an arbitrary sleep score is not useful. At worst it's potentially damaging to your users' health.
6 hours of sleep will give you a fair score on the Fitbit app. Medical professionals recommend 8 hours with anything less than 7 hours being classified as sleep deprivation. New research has shown powerful links between sleep loss and, among other things, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity and poor mental health. The new sleep score functionality could lead someone to believe they are getting a 'fair' amount of sleep while they're actually constantly sleep-deprived and increasing their risk of developing any of the medical conditions above.
Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher both talked about how much they worked and how little they slept. Both of them suffered from Alzheimer's disease later in life.

I am so excited this morning. I did not have a sleep score. Had a little message that there was insufficient data to provide a sleep score, but I did get all the screens I used to like - like time I was awake, and sleep quality. Not sure what I did to get that, but hope it happens again. i was so happy this morning to have not been "graded" on my sleep.
As a teacher, when i grade student work and give them a score, I also point out what they can do to improve that score. The sleep score did not do that.
Since I updated the Fitbit app., I am not pleased with the new sleep formation into bars. It does not seem to be as detailed as the previous format. I wish I could go back to the line graph type, rather than the bar. Maybe give people a choice, that would be great!!!!
Please listen to all of us and either get rid of the sleep score or make it optional
The data is unusable and annoying. I very seriously do not need 2/3 of your page telling me right when I get up that my sleep was only FAIR when I know personally it was very good. We get judged in every aspect of our life and I honestly do not need Fitbit giving me feedback on an area they know nothing. Get rid of it or make it optional.
I know this won't work for everyone, but I have discovered that if you turn off the heart rate sensor, the sleep data reverts back to time spent asleep, awake, and restless. You do not get a sleep score! The downside is you don't get to see the sleep stages (deep, REM, etc). For me I could care less about the sleep stages. I've tried this for several days now and love the fact that I no longer see a score when I look at my sleep.
Hi @Flipster99 and commenters, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about this option on the Fitbit app. This feature suggestion already exists, so I’ve moved your post here. This is not currently planned at this moment. You can keep adding your votes to this suggestion so we can keep tracking this request overtime. Learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in ourFAQs. I hope to see you around.
I spent some insomniac time thinking about how to get past this. Since I've spent good money for my last Charge 3, I want to get as much value out of it as possible, if I can.
I have all my data from 2012, so either downgrading the iOS app or hooking up something like IFTT to wade through the Fitbit clutter and get me the data I want, the way I want it.
Anybody thinking about alternatives? Even if IFTT emailed me a graph of my night's sleep, it would be easier to consult than the current mess that is Fitbit's "New Dashboard"
Temporary work around till they fix this dumb sleep score thing, which is always a **ahem** zero for me cause my Inspire doesnt have the tech, totally awesome for someone who has sleep problems to get "graded" by the way. Smart move Fitbit. Just use the actual website on your pc or internet browser on your phone, it still has average hours slept for the week, for now. If that changes I'm 100% not ever getting a Fitbit again. The sleep function was the whole reason why I got the **ahem** thing. Now it's just an expensive watch. Fitbit; dont release something with no option to opt out when some of your users can't even use the function cause the product doesnt even have heart rate monitoring.
Hi @SunsetRunner, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option on the Fitbit app again. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has a lot of votes. As the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.
@YojanaFitbit You have a very loose interpretation of "similar". Congratulations, you're earned the honor of being The Last Straw. Time for me to move on from Fitbit. Good riddance.
I've been following this issue closely for over a week now including several comments and screenshots. SLEEP TIME AVERAGES are a big deal to almost everyone that's posted here and have been considered extremely useful if not downright VITAL to many if not most of us. We can and often will make lifestyle changes based on how well we're sleeping and what our sleep time average actually is (and the sleep score does not help one single bit). I've also considered numerous suggestions posted by users and moderators alike. The fact that you can see your sleep time averages on the COMPUTER dash board helps some. But you only see it clearly listed out for each WEEK, anything longer is just a graph. Plus I can't exactly carry my computer with me to bed or have instant access to it as with my phone. Deleting my app and starting over with an older version has proved helpful to some, as I've read. But to me this is still only a bandaid and a time consuming one at that because it can take a tot of time to reinstall and download and sooner or later older versions will go BAD.
So here's what I have found whether newly updated or always been there (I really don't know). First of all, if I close my Fitbit app altogether on my iPhone and open back up, click on 'SLEEP' from my dashboard, it always STARTS with my sleep time average just like it always has. However ONCE I start clicking on any particular day it all reverts to sleep SCORE (which to me is useless). But by closing the app and reopening I get back to the sleep average including week/months and years averages all being viewable simply by clicking the double arrow expand icon. My guess is this will eventually change for me and must be a glitch on my phone because nobody else here has even mentioned it once. That said, what I have now discovered, is that even with sleep score being the default view, if you click on 'SLEEP' on your phone dashboard, and see your sleep score page, THEN, scroll the weekly graph that's at the top of the page, from right to left, you will see your "HOURS SLEPT" GRAPH. Simply click on the double arrow near the top right of your screen to expand that view and right there is everything we're looking for. It shows sleep AVERAGES for this week as well as any week we scroll back to. It also shows the one month average, three month average and even one year average, and again, we can scroll back to as long as you've had records taken by your Fitbit app and in my case back to 2016. All in all it takes less than 2 SECONDS to get what we want to see which are our sleep AVERAGES for this week, last week, last month, least year etc.
I can live with this even if the first page shows continues to show the useless, to me, sleep score. Our averages are right there. That's the most important thing we all really want. No need to quit Fitbit or pay a subscription fee for access to averages and no need to delete and download older software. It just would have been nice if someone, somewhere mentioned this to us here.
Again, from your dashboard, click on the SLEEP BOX, simply swipe the opening sleep page weekly graph (at top of page) from right to left, and CLICK ON THE DOUBLE EXPAND ARROWS, and it's all right there. Takes less than two seconds once you know where to look.
Maybe it's different on iOS but on Android, it only shows a rolling average. You don't get the easy, at-a-glance Sun - Sat average hours slept per week so that you can quickly compare weekly averages. So, at least on Android, some functionality we used to have has been lost (unless you log into the bloody website).
I can't imagine they would change it to eliminate the average altogether. In fact it may have always been there. Just takes a second or two rather than instant view of averages. At least on my iPhone. No idea about other phones, unfortunately. I just I wonder why the moderators wouldn't know this and save a whole lot of time, complaints and for sure losing some customers.
I have figured out my own work around. Come to find out my Galaxy watch shows me everything and I need for sleep and in a much more streamlined way(including average slept). I just hadn't taken the time to link the watch to my Samsung health app or anything because I had my Fitbit. Guess i should thank the terrible moderators for motivating me to find an answer to my issue. 😁 Goodbye Fitbit!Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
I appreciate you pointing out where to get the average hours asleep in the app. It might be enough for some people who weren’t aware it was there.
However, I already knew this and I’m still unhappy with sleep score replacing where this used to be on the sleep page. And I want Fitbit to hear that loud and clear.
IMO the app should highlight the data that is most useful to us users. And sleep score doesn’t make the cut in terms of usefulness.
Why isn’t Fitbit prioritizing what it’s users are prioritizing?
