Manual entry of Stairclimber (add floors/distance)

The Fitbit doesn't register floors climbed on Steppermills and Stair Masters.

It would be great if we could manualy add floors to our daily totals.

Obviously we are already adding steps / calories / active minutes from doing the exercise... just want to add the floors.

Thanks

Hmm.
Has it been 3 years already? Surely not 4 years (!) since multiple tickets
were opened for this colossal (yet trivially easy to fix) oversight.
It's not that they're ignoring this. It was judged not worthy of fixing and
archived years ago, an epic flaw in fitbit, that was deemed a feature.
Now it's a "nice to have", as if step machines haven't been around for 30
or 40 years, or whatever...
Fitbit don't care.

Please don't waste my time with such pablum-like responses! If this request was only 3 or 4 months old, I might accept that it's on "your radar". But, after 3 - 4 years, it's evident that Fitbit has no intention to address this request. I suspect that my 14 year old grandson could implement this feature in less than a week! I believe that Fitbit is too busy marketing, and that "customer service" is just considered a marketing "feature" to sell more crap. Why should we believe that Fitbit will ever implement this requested function on ANY Fitbit product, now or in future? I certainly won't consider Fitbit products until I see concrete evidence of this function actually operational in your products!

I've had 3, last a year, customer service is a joke! Good luck!!

If this had been posted three years ago followed up by a resolution it would have been good customer service. I think at this point you've lost a lot of customers because you've completely ignored us. There's enough competition out there that you need to pay attention. When you first came out you were unique and but that's no longer the case. Consumers aren't restricted anymore and customer service and flexibility MATTER. I keep reading these posts because I just had to see if anyone from Fitbit would ever respond. I'm not sure if I am ever in the market for another tracker I would consider a Fitbit because this has left a bad feeling. It was my fifth Fitbit, so you blew it.

As the original poster of this thread, I think I can speak for all
subsequent posters, that putting it on your radar is less than an
acceptable response. Adding a manual entry of floors to the software is far
from rocket science and Fitbit software engineers should be ashamed that
this was not included in the first release of the app and ALL subsequent
updates.

Besides the poor programming, the utter lack of a response to this this
thread and similar ones on the board (until now), is disgraceful. This is
the perfect example of "too little, too late".

Should this and other similar requested upgrades not be made available
within the next few weeks - even as a beta release - then I may join those
other current and former disgruntled Fitbit users and seek a fitness
tracker from a company that cares about its customer base.

I'd love to see a reply to this post...

It's been about 4 years with no resolution! I was looking at the new Fitbit Ionic, but you know what? I will not be replacing my Surge until the ability to manually enter or edit floors is added to the dashboard. Top of the line fitness devices should have the features the users want and this one is lacking terribly on this issue. In the next month or so I will make my next purchase and it looks like I'll be jumping over to the Garmin Vivoactive. Sad because I've been on the fitbit bandwagon since the flex came out. Loyalty is a two way street.

I use the Stairmaster AND Jacob's Ladder on a regular basis.  Both involve steps, but JL involves arm motion as well.  I would love the ability to manually enter steps, floors AND feet, not just time and calories.  I would think the mathematical calculation between a Stairmaster and Jacob's Ladder would not be all that different.  As in an elliptical, a treadmill and stairmaster, if the machine can estimate distance traveled and caloric expenditure estimate, I would think that Fitbit could as well!

Agree too

I know floor count is by elevation but I wish there was a way to manually adjust it too. I have RA and so take stairs very slowly. There are many times it doesn't count my flight. When my goal is to do four flights a day and two don't get counted I would love to be able to adjust it manually. For me every little bit counts. Just a suggestion for future updates.

Would love to be able to log floors climbed on my dashboard.

We need to be able to manually adjust more data when adding activities! I use the stair master at the gym all the time and it’s frustrating to not be able to add in the floors and distance I’ve climbed. That’s about 120 floors and 2 miles every day that I earn and don’t get credit for.

I know this has been posed a few times, so Im posting again in hopes that maybe this will garner enough support to add this feature.  I work in a location that does not allow for fitbits or other type of wireless devices to enter the complex.  I constantly walk up and down 6 flight stairs all day long.  I would like to be able to add this to my daily achievements, but currently am unable to.  After work I do not have time due to my workout schedule, kids sports schedules, along with everything else that being a good parent requires me to do, to go out and climb steps or hills just to meet achievements.  Could you please develop the software/application to allow users to manually add the floors that we have climb while we are not able to wear the fitbit product(s)?

Hi All,

I was a loyal fitbit user. I first posted in this thread about a year ago, several years after the first request was made. I've watched this thread diligently over the past year and was saddened by the complete lack of response by fitbit, with the exception of one generic response in August.

Earlier this month, I had enough. I was decided that I was not going to support a company that doesn't care about me. Every time someone sees a fitbit on your arm, you are offering free advertising for a company that is flat out ignoring you.

So on October 20th, I made the switch to an apple watch and I could not be happier. It is clear that fitbit wont make any adjustments until and unless they start losing money. Fitbit lost me.

Good luck all.

Had I known that the Flex 2 did not count floors I would never have purchased it. I am returning mine. Argh.  Truth to tell, it is my fault for failing to do my homework but how do you "improve" a product and omit an essential feature?

My suggestion is this....

I think you should be able to manually enter flights of stairs on the app.  I have a charge 2 and rarely get credit for stairs.  Is there a secret?  Anyway, you would only be fooling yourself if you add stairs you didn’t do.  Why not make it something you can enter, like drinking water and food consumption....thanks!11

Just replaced my Charge HR with an Alta HR.  I appreciate the sleek design of the Alta HR and understand other features took precedence over an altimeter.  But I miss tracking floors and would like the option to manually log them.  Thanks.

My charge 2 rarely counts floors correctly, I’ve climbed stairs in a hotel for 10 minutes and been credited with 2, climbing tower ladders over one hundred feet and got nothing. If you can’t add a way to manually log floors could you add a way to delete that feature ? It keeps me from going “all green”, which is annoying. If it can’t be dependable of what use is it?

I am disabled so any stairs  (floors) that I do are a huge part of my "work out". I would like to manually log them to see my daily strength progress.

Also, I really don't understand because the fitbit app will let me manually add 1 floor but no additional ones.

Sometimes when I forget to wear my Charge 2 or when it’s charging, if I climb up and down the stairs, there’s no way to manually enter this information and add it to my overall dashboard. Could you please add this feature?

I agree I just finished running 3 miles on the treadmill and my Fitbit only recognized it as .70. I am a runner and I really only wanted a Fitbit for my running. I used to have a Nike tracker and it would let you manually change your miles to get a more percise calibration. Very disappointed in Fitbit.

I was so discouraged reading this post. How can an iphone have face recognition technology but this isn't an easy fix for Fitbit?!? I am still in the warranty and SERIOUSLY debating returning and getting a Garmin instead.
