Manual entry of Stairclimber (add floors/distance)

The Fitbit doesn't register floors climbed on Steppermills and Stair Masters.

It would be great if we could manualy add floors to our daily totals.

Obviously we are already adding steps / calories / active minutes from doing the exercise... just want to add the floors.

Thanks

I was at a concert in a huge arena Wed. night. Having been lucky enough to be in floor seating, I spent 45 minutes (total) walking and even sprinting numerous flights of stairs, numerous times. Once I synced my Fitbit Alta from that night, I came to the horrible realization that it hasn't (doesn't?) Track ANY floor/stairs data! SERIOUSLY?! It's ridiculous to not have the feature to begin with, and even more annoying that it cannot be added manually. So, please count yet another vote for this feature, or the manual add. Thank you.

Can you go out to the dashboard for Fitbit.com and manually add your floors under exercise activity?

No you can't, that's what we have been asking for (to no avail) for 3 years.

My FitBit One seldom accurately records the floors I've climbed. I've seen comments asking for the ability to manually add floors to the Dashboard, many of them dating back to 2014. Is FitBit only interested in expending effort on revenue-producing activities instead of responding to legitimate customer requests for features?  I sent a request to Facebook this past week and received the generic "Rest assured that we're continuously working with suggestions." response. Over 3 years to address what should be a relatively straightforward function for any competent developer is an insult to your customers.

I'll be moving on to another tracker with more responsive technical support.

My charge 2 often doesn't count floors 2 or 3 times a day, its very annoying! Please add a way to log floors in the app like the way you can log a run in the apps, thank you

I agree this needs to be added.  I live in a 2-story house and on mornings when I charge my Surge as I prepare for the day I go up the stairs a few times.  As others have commented, sometimes we don't have our trackers with us and it makes sense to be able to add floors climbed manually.  It's possible with other exercise data, why not floors?

Don't blame FitBit for your surprise that the Alta doesn't track floors.  This is clearly not included in the list of features for the Alta.  Being able to edit floors climbed manually SHOULD be available, though.  I'm quite surprised it hasn't been addressed yet since it's been a request for 3 years and is a very straightforward request.

There are many instance in which there exists a need to manually add data to "floors climbed". Although I am a fairly new user, I have come across a few instances in which floors climbed are lost.

Obviously, if one is not wearing the Fitbit, the data will not be captured, but there are a number of valid reasons for not wearing the tracker, like while it is charging, which happens often, or while swimming or showering.

Also, I find that if I am holding something in my hand with the tracker on it and my arm does not swing back and forth while climbing the stairs, the flight does not register.

The ability to add data for any passive data capture category should be a no-brainer. This feature being missing from the dashboard's software is probably not poor programming, but that is what it appears.

Users need to know the reason why they are forced to maintain inaccurate activity records.

The next software upgrade needs to include the ability to manually add or correct data to all categories.

I completely agree with this suggestion! I am switching from the Fitbit One to the Alta because of the design and increased water resistance; however, it is a major part of my daily goals to climb 10 flights of stairs a day. I am proud of the badges I have earned in respect to floors climbed and would like to continue monitoring this goal, even if I have to input the date manually. Would love to have this option in the dashboard!

Agreed. This is needed for all fitbit trackers in the dashboard. My fitbit one  regularly gets the number of floors I've climbed wrong, either too many or too few, which affects my calorie count. Very annoying.

I've received several "badges" that I haven't earned!!

I've also had exercise I HAVE done not logged. Most frustrating. Obviously it would be best if the tracker did what it says it does, but failing that, manual correction really is a must.

This not counting staircases more than 10 feet high really, really, really, stinking stinks!!!    I am in a climbing challenge this summer.  My stiars in my house are 8' feet and they never track.  I will have to show my fitbit logs in the contest, so it STINKS that they cannot be manually added.   I upgraded to the HR because I needed stairs counted!

Thanks for your comments, Vicki!

Personally, I think the Fitbit developers and/or marketers are just
being plain lazy and/or trying to sell more stuff. The software fix to
allow entering your true flights climbed should be trivial. The many
requests to fix this has been outstanding for over 3 years, but
apparently, customer satisfaction is not one of their job evaluation
criteria. Fitbit is no longer on my list of fitness tracking
providers. I'll move on to a company that actually listens to its
customers.

Thank you, Gary.  If the company really reads this, know this.  This is my third Fitbit.  I keep upgrading as my fitness improves and I need more features.  This is promise you:  My NEXT one will not be a Fitbit.  I've outgrown you.

I also would like to be able to add floors climbed into my ap. I have an Alta HR and it doesn't have the altimeter so there is no way for me to track floors climbed. I go up and down stairs all the time. Guess I shoulda gotten a different model fitbit, but I love the sleakness of the Alta. It is very comfortable to wear. I feel this would be an easy update to make to the ap. Can someone explain why this feature isn't in the ap?

Fitbits:  How many more of these do you need to hear our request for a way to log stairs climbed?

I don't know, we need lots of votes, maybe 500 or more?

It would be wonderful if the app would allow us to manually enter the number of floors we climbed like we can do with our steps. A lot of us do stair climbers which don't register as floors, or our fitbit dies and we can't go back and register them later. Please consider adding the feature.

Agree, I do not understand why it is not possible to do this. I climbed 2500 feet yesterday and my HR recored 80 flights! no way to fix this that I can find

I had a fitbit one and miss the automatic stairstep counter. At the next update surely this can be added to the flex. If not at least an icon to manually add stairs. Climbing stairs takes more effort than walking on a flat surface and should affect the calories burned.

Would will be great to add  or correct manually.

I agree so much!  I forgot my Blaze at home this morning, and I typically jog the same stairs everyday to make my goal.  Now, because I forgotten my tracker, it will mess up my stats.  I love making everything green each day on the app... it makes me sad that I can't do the stairs at work and then enter them on the app.

Please, please update the app to let us manually enter stairs?  Just tweak it so the manual entries don't count towards challenges if you're thinking folks might cheat... but let us enter them manually...

My FitBit broke today and while customer service was quite good and I will get a replacement, it will mean I'll lose my nearly six month streak while I wait for the replacement. And the only reason I'll lose my streak is that I can't add manual stairs. I can get to all my other goals using the app on my phone or by adding things manually but it won't matter as long as I can't add stairs.

I honestly don't understand why Fitbit doesn't just add this feature. Your customers clearly want it, and you want us to keep using Fitbits, don't you?

I have numerous Fitbit products. I started with Fitbit one, got the scale, the Surge and Flex 2. I'm in agreement with those previously comments, I'd like to be able to manually track the floors when I wear the Flex 2.

It would be very helpful to a lot of people that use stairclimbers to be able to manually enter the number of floors. Just as you can manually enter the distance on a treadmill into the Exercise Log you should be able to create a Stairclimber function where floors can be entered.

Excellent idea. I wonder why all of these comments fall on deaf ears.
