Meal Share with Friends/Family through app (rather than all inputting the same ingredients)

I would like to be able to create and share munu items and meals with my wife.  It would be great for one of us to input our meal or menu item and to share it with another so we do not have to double up on work! Perhaps besides just "Friends" to share with you could also create "Family" to share with.  We generally eat the same food and meals under one roof so it would be awesome to able to share the menus and meals we create with another to expedite the food logging process.

Thanks!!!

This would be incredibly beneficial! Homemade meals take so long to input and sharing them would make tracking food in the App so much easier! When I make home made meals I often don't track cause of the effort it takes to input every little thing.

Agree,  if MyFitnessPal can make a barcode reader which seems to  recognise pretty much all barcodes Fitbit must be able to

come up with something similar!

Yes. This feature is definitely helpful for family members and needs to be reinstated.  I think it is disrespectful when companies remove a feature that, in all common sense to anyone in that field, is known to be useful.  As consumers, we chose products based on their features.  And for these features to be abruptly removed is again...disrespectful, and showing little regard for the patrons/consumers.

I've tried Fitbit logging for a few weeks now after leaving CalorieKing because it does not have a good mobile app. I like a number of things about Fitbit but I just cannot continue with it and have to go back to CK primarily for two reasons:  1) keeping my food log hidden is tremendously unhelpful to my efforts.  I need to know others will see what I post. 2) I cannot save a large dish then indicate that I have just taken a portion of it.  For example, I make a large salad that lasts days.  If I take .15 of that salad as a meal, I have no way of indicating that in the Fitbit log.  I'd really rather log in Fitbit so my exercise and food data are in the same place, but the cost of not having these two features is too great.

Sharing food and food data would be sooo great for couples using fitbit together. Duplicating entries is a pain!! C'mob fitbit, get with it!!

I agree with everyone on this post.

Iwill not be buying another fit bit product. I have already spent many 100s of dollars. Now you choose to make my life more difficult/tedious. Thank you for nothing.

Add two more voices (my wife and I) to this cacophony requesting the return of the share food feature for all of the reasons previously stated by others.

This is exactly the feature I was looking for and am disappointed to learn it doesn't exist. Currently, I add each ingredient for recipes individually and am annoyingly using Excel to do all the heavy lifting to figure out what a serving is. My partner is often just adding the total calories instead to his log and loses the value of knowing nutritional information. This is essential when we are going through the trouble of weighing everything and working towards being our healthiest selves together. I would love to see this implemented!

This is one of the main features that made us choose fitbit in the first place.

If it is not being put back on all our devices will go back to supplier and we will move over to samsung as it is more open

Thank you! It would also be nice to hear Fitbit respond to all of these
comments. Hello? Fitbit? Are you there?

I agree, this has been going on for too long.

Fitbit folks seem to bother neither with involving into this discussion nor with providing for the requested solution. Very sad customer approach.

@FitbitCommunity anyone give us an update on this?

I agree with everyone... should be possible.  It is very confusing when you look at your foods and there is a section that says "shared foods" but apparently no way to actually share them!  I am trying to get my husband to start tracking his food and it would be so much easier if I could put together meals in the App and then share them with him.

Sharing food and food data would greatly improve one's ability to log meals.  This is a must do.

Requirements for software development:

1. Meals share including the ability to set share permissions, i.e. friends, public.

2. Meal split into servings. Create Recipe "Meal" which can be logged as a serving where each ingredient is divided by servings.

3. Ability to search added foods: Add "My Added Foods" tabs to Recent and Most Logged tabs.

seriously fitbit. Not only is your export feature broken where it doesnt include servings or notes, but now i cant even share my log with my RD? I have been such a long term support of fitbit trackers and im very upset that the food portion is so sub-par. i will have to go back to Myfitnesspall again!

Why hasnt @FitbitCommunity not responded.

I do think this may need further clarification:

Fitbit recently (in the Android app) allowed sharing of things like food. Unfortunately, this sharing is done by screenshot. What I (and I do believe we) are complaining about is that you used to be able to enter food and then your partner/friend could see it and click on the items to add them to their day. Sometimes my wife would create a food in Fitbit and by clicking on it, it was created on my end as well. In order to enter it now, I would have to enter it from scratch.

Fitbit, the reason this is a necessary feature is that it provides motivation. Entering everything you eat is a pain in the arse, but when you know you're basically doing it to help another person it provides motivation to do this. My wife and I have completely stopped entering our food - honestly - because this feature no longer exists and to spend 5-10 minutes entering the details of dinner and then share a screenshot so that another person can take 5-10 minutes entering the meal just became too much of a time-suck.

We have gotten many of our close friends into Fitbit and when we get together to eat a homemade meal, the cook used to be able to share the details of the meal with everyone. I hope your team sees how this adds benefit to the app and device and creates a sense of community.

Thanks for listening (I hope). It's been over a year. Let's get this feature back!

So I reached out to support on Twitter. After a little back and forth, this was their response:

However, our team needs to consider several factors in adding features on the app. Most important is the number of users that will use a specific feature. Note that some features might be removed in order to maintain the stability of the app.

I do like my Fitbit and will continue to use and recommend the product. That said, the removal of this feature has but a stain on the usefulness of the brand overall. Insofar as I was hoping for an answer, I have received one, however unsatisfactory it may be, which was my goal all along. I still hope they change their minds soon, but no longer see that happening.

Please make it possible to share food lists, so tedious having to enter it into other people's when we have eaten same meal

Hi,

It would be great to share the products you had for a meal, via the message application within Fitbit app, with e.g. the person you had the meal with after sporting, so the other person doesn't have to put in the same items and volumes as you just did.

When possible a connection with other DM apps, would be even greater and maybe easier to share

Look forward to the update

I'm not waiting around for FitBit to add feature.  This is ridiculous.  The step counter on smartphone works incredibly well, and syncs with My Fitness Pal - which allows for SHARABLE meals and recipes.   Lost customer.

Please restore this function. Having to use both MyFitnessPal and Fitbit just for this one simple function is less than desirable. To have the function and then discontinue with an update is not a good way to keep your clientele. Please, please, and triple please restore this feature. Thanks.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. In terms of an update, there aren't currently any plans to release this feature. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we will let you know if anything changes.

My husband and I are on the same meal plan, and DEFINITELY want to enter all the custom recipes ONCE and share them with each other, or create a group for others following the same plan.  I'm irritated when I have to use other apps to convert measurements to weights in order to get the nutritive content of foods.  If it's on the internet, it should be available to the Fitbit developers and would be very useful to skip this extra step in an already time consuming process.

Down the road it would be great if we could simply scan the recipes with a pic and have the text instantly convert.  We don't buy much CPG stuff, prefer the real, fresh, foods as many of your fitbit users probably do as well, so this would be a MAJOR upgrade.
