Medical ID Wristbands/ICE (In Case of Emergency)

It would be a great idea to add the medical alert logo to the flex band in case of a medical emergency. Older adults today are living longer, more active lives than the generations before them. The medical alert symbol and information can be incorporated into a stylish watch or a bangle-type bracelet, among many other options.

Medical IDs give paramedics and health care providers a quick look at your medical history in an emergency. They usually include information about medical conditions, food or drug allergies, medical devices (such as a pacemaker), and medications. This data can also be in sync with your Smartphone.

I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.  I was wondering if Fitbit would, or could incorporate a medical Id with the Fitbit product.   I now wear the Fitbit Flex, and a medical ID bracelet.  Too many things on my wrists!

Interesting idea, but Fitbit trackers are not intended to provide medical or scientific data.

Interesting idea, however, Fitbit is not intended to include or provide this type of information. Any other ideas you might have, feel free to post or vote for them in case they already been posted in the Feature Request board.

Well, I guess this means there's no chance I'll get a patent on what sounded like a great idea.

I've had a MedicAlert for years, but hang it on my purse, because it's annoying.

Just got a Fitbit Charge HR, as did my husband, who unfortunately now should have a MedicAlert as well.

I've seen those sleeves that go on Fitbit bands - I'd imagine there are a lot of people who would love to combine the two if it could be done cleanly, without screaming "I've got medical problems".

Hey Everyone-

My name is P.J. Rabice and I work for a company called Road ID and we make exactly what you all are looking for.

We launched a line of Road ID for Fitbit products last summer: ID faceplates for the Fitbit Flex, Charge and Surge as well as a line of what we call "Badges", or some people call charms, that can be added to their Fitbit.

Links to the ID Faceplate catalog and the "Badges" catalog are below. Love to hear what everyone thinks.

All the best.

This is a good idea, but in order to use Fitbit services you must be over 13 years of age. Click here for more details about Fitbit's Terms of Service.

Additionally, I'd recommend voting and commenting on this similar request for Medical ID Wristbands if it's something you'd like Fitbit to implement.

This seems like such a no-brainer.  I cannot give up my watch, so I wear that on my left wrist and both my fitbit and Medical Alert bracelet on my right.  It could be as simple as something that attaches to an existing fitbit band.  It really needs to stand out though... a silver band that is unique to the medical alert band, with red symbol on each side of the device.  It would also be a great co-branding opportunity with some health realted organization.

Yes, yes yes! I have epilepsy, but am also extremely active. Would LOVE to have my Fitbit band double as my RoadID/med alert ID. Unfortunately, RoadID doesn't yet have an option for the Alta. 😕

I would love to have a medical alert band for my fitbit alta! I am a 2x kidney transplant patient and have plenty of related medication allergies. I already have the medical ID set up in my iPhone, but it would be great to have it notified on my fitbit band so that in case something does ever happen, they know to look or to ask about it. I got my fitbit as a motivator to help me get and stay on track after my second transplant this past January, and a medical symbol on my fitbit band would be the icing on the cake! It would also be neat to put a small line of info on the the inside of the band, even if it is a couple of key words discribing the conditon.

For example, I am allergic to the #1 kidney transplant medication. If I could put on the inside "renal transplant, no lasix" I know that it would make me and my parents feel more comfortable when I am out and about.

I ordered this, http://www.id-technology.com/mediband.htm

I think it will work fine with the Alta.

Hard to get it straight the way the alta's band is.

This is a really great the idea in case for any emergency would be pretty useful to have a contact number on your tracker. Please keep on voting to get the developers attention. Thanks for posting and sharing this idea!

Being able to order the Fitbit with a custom engraving as well as NFC would be ideal for someone like my mother and my grandmother as well as about a dozen other friends and family that I have. A big part of the reason that I know they don't want a bit that is simply because they already wear a watch and a medical bracelet. They just don't see the benefit of replacing their watch with a Fitbit. However if you combined the Fitbit with a medical bracelet I'm pretty sure they would. I hope to see you this someday. Otherwise one thing I can say is there customer support and upholding their warranty is top-notch compared to some other companies.

I wear my Fitbit 24/7 and also wear an allergy alert band. It would be really great if the two could be incorporated - either a symbol on our Device that alerts to allergies then the information stored on the inner side or as part of the display.

Brilliant idea, maybe an option of a medical alert band with individual number on that could be tracked back to you in the way my current one does it's from my ID square and is really good for those with medical information that changes.

As a lone runner my safety while out running is a concern. I do not carry a phone while running due to the extra weight and I don't carry any ID. If for any reason I became unconscious or worse while I am out running i would be, for lack of a better phrase, a Jane Doe. It would be helpful to incorporate an incase of emergency screen which would provide a name and number of who to contact or alternatively some basic bio information about myself.

It would be nice to also incorporate some type of Send email, for those Fitbits like Blaze and Surge.  Walkmeter allows a send when you start and stop a walk, I use this when I'm walking early in morning so my wife is aware of when I left the house on an extended walk and she knows to expect a stopped email within a half an hour.

This could be extended to allow the wearer to send a notification when connected to phone by bluetooth.

I have Epilepsy and have been looking for a more convenient medical id bracelet, I would love to have the metal clasp on my Fitbit Alta to be the symbol!!!! There are so many people that are using Fitbits of all types that this would be very ideal!!!

I have been looking for a solution also. I am also a California EMT. We know to look for bracelets or necklaces. I think there is a good chance the clasp might be overlooked.

Keith

Thanks!

Consider adding a "Road ID" feature to various Fitbit models. It would identify the user in the event if an accident or emergency.
