Medical ID Wristbands/ICE (In Case of Emergency)

It would be a great idea to add the medical alert logo to the flex band in case of a medical emergency. Older adults today are living longer, more active lives than the generations before them. The medical alert symbol and information can be incorporated into a stylish watch or a bangle-type bracelet, among many other options.

Medical IDs give paramedics and health care providers a quick look at your medical history in an emergency. They usually include information about medical conditions, food or drug allergies, medical devices (such as a pacemaker), and medications. This data can also be in sync with your Smartphone.

For those who like the Road ID and use the Ionic/Versa/Versa Lite, one suggestion is to put on the band to check the Med ID app on the watch for more detail medical information.

Hi everyone!

Out on my run today with my Fitbit Ionic I realised that if something happened to me and emergency services were called there's no way of knowing who I am and how to contact my loved one etc.  - after all the great feature of the Ionic is running without your phone!

I suggest that all devices have the option to add ICE information so could be checked if needed.

Many people who have health problems or are simply elderly and live alone now have medical alert devices either on their wrist or on a chain around their necks so they can alert a service, usually through a home alarm system that they are in medical distress and require assistance.  You may have seen an ad on TV where a woman has fallen and she pushes a button and say " I've fallen and I can't get up".  I personally know of a police officer who had a heart attack and died alone at home because he didn't have such a device.  It occurs to me that this system could be taken a step further with Fitbit technology.  A fitbit with the ability to link to one's home alarm system  or wifi system could provide monitoring of vitals on a person and the fitbit could have a threshold where vitals that are awry trigger an alert to the company monitoring the person.  Typically these companies call the individual and if they receive no answer they alert an ambulance to go to the home.  This medical alert business is a growing industry with all the baby-boomers becoming seniors, and I feel there is a genuine opportunity for a company like fitbit to enter this market with an advancement to this technology.

Hi @AAAndroid000 ! Thank you for sharing your idea! I find it very interesting. I moved it to this similar one, to receive the attention needed.

Please keep posting more suggestions.

I am supposed to wear a medi ID badge but I often forget to put it on and when I do have it on I find it uncomfortable to wear along with a watch. You can buy watches or bracelets or whatever you want really with the medi alert symbol on it followed by your allergies or blood condition, diabetes or any other emergency medical information that might be needed by the hospital. There are apps on phones to put this data in, but ideally I need to be wearing it for all to see and at work I’m not allowed to have my phone on me. It would be great to have a customisable watch strap to be able to put this information on and would really change my life and the life of a lot of people who choose to wear a Fitbit rather than a normal watch

For those in the UK and have the Charge 2 there is this one that does a variety of medical conditions as well as a custom text version for about £15 with £4 delivery

I have a road Id and it’s on my Fitbit. It would work on many watches
depending on band width. It’s nicely made.

Would be great if we could personalize the watch band with ICE and emergency contact names and phone numbers. There some third party places which do this I will use Roadid dot com in the meantime until fitbit offers this built into their watchband

There should be an option (especially for our elderly) to have a fall detection and emergency contacts set up. If the watch detects a fall it should send that information out to our emergency contacts and if we don't respond saying we're ok then 911 should be called with our location provided by the Fitbit map. That being said we would need to be able to make phone calls and more in-depth text messages from our Fitbits! Thank you.

Hi @kgilbert16! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing. I've moved it into a similar request. You can also check this other suggestion, post a comment or click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

I understand there's complexity in adding medical/emergency  information for the app but surely adding just the option to have the logo as a medical bracelet has wouldn't be that difficult. That way 1st responders know there's something that needs to be known and to look for the information (even if somewhere else.) Just the logo alone let's them know.

It is crazy that Fitbit does not offer a medical alert band to go with a Fitbit.  I have found a couple of Etsy ones, but not for my model (Charge 3).  I am now on my 3rd different model and still no luck.  Fitbit - your customer base is only going to get older.  Why make your customers go find a 3rd party kinda sorta bracelet? Honestly this irritates me so much, I will look at other options next time.

I agree with you. The one I got from road Id has held up really well. They
laser etch the text and my text is still perfect after over a year.

Ha, the band on my new Fitbit Charge 4 is so terrible I lost my watch on the very first day I wore it.   Fortunately my ROAD ID tag was on the new watch and a kind soul had mercy on me and called the contact listed on the ROAD ID tag and I got my watch back the next day.   REALLY wish we could etch some info into the watch band.

I fully support this idea. This is very important information that can save a person's life in an emergency. I think everyone should have an app on their iPhone with a list of diseases and allergies so that medics can quickly organize medical care.

I downloaded such an app to my son's smartphone, who suffers from asthma. I am very worried about him, so he is under constant observation by a pediatrician Indiana. I know he's a smart boy, but still, I think it's a good decision to put all personal information on his phone.
