Medical ID Wristbands/ICE (In Case of Emergency)

It would be a great idea to add the medical alert logo to the flex band in case of a medical emergency. Older adults today are living longer, more active lives than the generations before them. The medical alert symbol and information can be incorporated into a stylish watch or a bangle-type bracelet, among many other options.

Medical IDs give paramedics and health care providers a quick look at your medical history in an emergency. They usually include information about medical conditions, food or drug allergies, medical devices (such as a pacemaker), and medications. This data can also be in sync with your Smartphone.

I was about to request this feature... I'm glad to know I'm not alone in thinking this would be a smart addition.  There would need to be some outward indicator to first responders to alert them to information being available... unique band or slide on emblem.  The information should be of the basic sort... just an alert/heads up, similar to using a medical alert bracelet (which I do).  For detailed information, a phone number or website can be listed guiding first responders and medical staff to detailed information.

Add the ability for have medical alert on bracelet. Enter the medical alert info and then make it an option to include the sequence on Fitbit bracelet. Make this user optional.

As someone who is an avid Fitbit user and needs to wear a medical alert band, it would be great to offer a medical ID/ medical alert add on. I was able to adapt my Fitbit with a medical ID charm, but would love a Fitbit specific option. Also, the option to add detailed medical information via the Fitbit app could be useful for first responders and health care providers.

I am in the exact same boat, tired of having my Fitbit and Medical ID bracelet collide when I'm trying to lift and carry boxes at work.

Hey Fitbit Development Team,

Just a Thought with The HR Charge or Bands that have the display maybe a spot for Emergency Contact and Medical Condition added to the Customize Display Screen might be handy, as more people are starting to use your product and not everyone carry's a phone, wallet, or ID while execising, running or whatever. It maybe a feature you can add to replace a medical braclet and increase your sales?

For the Flex it could just be a "sleeve" with the med alert info. you would slide the sleeve over the band.

Add an easy accessable place for ICE on your fitbit device. This could also be inside the wristband, add selling option 🙂

Hi @Reneterhaar! Sorry I didn't understand your idea. Would you be so kind to elaborate more on what is your idea for wristband trackers? Thanks!

I trust you understand the ice concept. It would be nice in case of emergency to have fast access to contact details. This could be a place in the phone. But in such a stress situation you must be able to find it. Press a few buttons and ice is available. Or it might not be available because the watch just died. In those cases it would be nice to still have access to ice data. And then i thought of a wristband. Inside the wristband a phone number can been printed, something like "ICE: +31 (0)6 12345678". To show others that inside there is the ICE data, some mark should be available on the outside of the wristband. You can order this special wristband and data printed together with the watch or seperately on the fitbit site. In almost every ice situation you wear the watch. Therefor i thought about this concept. Let me know if you think this would work 🙂

Hi all,

My daughter has type 1 as well and we are looking to include a medical braclett into her fitbit flex.

I have found a site in the U.S that can do it but is there one in the uk?

Here is the link to what I have found.

My daughter has type 1 diabetes and we are using a flex to track her activity and sleep patterns so we can see if there is a pattern with her blood suger levels. We also use it to remind her to test her blood.

This is working out well so far.

Our problem is that she is only 7 years old and obviously at school.

Schools have a strict jewelery policy and although she is allowed a medical braclet they dont like the idea of the fitbit as well.

Is there any way that we can combine the information onto the flex.

I have found a company in the U.S that can laser engrave the band, is there any where in the U.K that can also do this.

Here is the link to the U.S site.

I look forward to hearing any suggestions.

Regards

Ian

I would like to see the actual wristband be personalized like a medical bracelet.

I need a wearable device that can communicate with a security provider or local police in the event of an emergency.  I propose that a FitBit device programed to send an alarm signal via phone or Wifi when the wearer performed a programed motion that is abnormal to daily activities would do the trick.  A suggested motion might be like a quick stop as in clapping or pounding one fist on the table several times (Wearer might want to avoid rock, paper, scissors scenarios). or shaking hands rapidly as if freightened.  The advantages would be 1. it is with the person rather than at a work station. 2. the alarm motion could be customizable. 3. the motion may be undetected by an assailant or perpetrator.  We can all imagine a situation in which this capacity would be valuable.  My interest comes from a recent incident when our store was robbed at gunpoint.  My employees handled everything very well and were unharmed but they were not able to notify anyone until the perpetrator was on his way down the road in a vehicle he stole from one of my employees. How about a 911 call and a locate within seconds of being attacked during an evening run (where I live its more likely to be a moose than a mugger). Has someone else done this already?

I love your idea!

I also think it would be a good idea to combine the concept of Life Alert with Fitbit. I also think a cool upgrade for the ChargeHR would be that when your heart rate reaches some kind of extreme, whether it be too high or too low or too fast or too slow, that after a certain amount of time, your Fitbit would connect to your phone and alert medical personel.

Fitbit could really save people's lives as well as help people to become healthier.

I'll be honest.  I don't have a Fitbit ... yet.  If I could get one with a medical alert ID, I would DEFINITELY buy one!!!
