Merge multiple sleep fragments into one sleep log and score

I am constantly being awakened in the middle of the night because I have 4-year old twins (one with autism which means his sleep cycle is all over the map). When I am awakened, I am usually moving around (taking kids to the toilet, changing night-time nappies, soothing kids with bad dreams, switching beds to better quieten a kid so the rest of the house can sleep, getting a glass of water, etc.). I also use the Surge automatic sleep recording feature to track my sleep. I don't want to have to sstart or stop recording anything manually.

On many nights, if I get up, the Surge will create multiple sleep logs. At 4am, it has done this when I have been awake for 9 minutes or more. At 7am, it has done this when I have been up for less than a minute - and yes, sometimes I go back to bed after 7am while my wife takes over after my nighttime "shift". These multiple sleep logs are inaccurate because that 9 minutes, or 1 minute, or whatever it is isn't counted as awake time.

All I need is a single command to merge the multiple logs into a single log with the gaps between logs calculated as awake time. This would solve all the display issues with multiple logs, and give me a much clearer view of my entire night. I would have a single sleep pattern graph and a single sleep log calculation.

Years of suggestions submitted. WHEN WILL WE BE ABLE TO MERGE SLEEP LOGS?

So how do you actually combine charts?  I have a luxe Fitbit worn on my non-dominant hand and would like my two sleep logs combined.

They do get merged on the dashboard. And if the 2 periods are within an hour, they are merged in the sleep log.

However if the sleep periods are deprecated by a longer period, I want to know, and merging would not give me the righht data.

I have bladder cancer and wake during the night, I am also stressed due to other issues, I have the same issues with multiple logs for one night as I seem to have more and more two sleeps a night.

Ideally I wish to select edit, then choose which sleeps and then select merge to create one entry. Of course the usual validation of if there is an entry in the  middle not selected or going over 48 hours.

many thanks

Im a new mom and my little one wakes me regularly for one night feeding which takes about 30-45 minutes. Of course, I go to sleep after that but again, it shows up as two separate sleep sessions and because the second one is usually only 2-3 hours long it doesn’t have any insights because the sleep session is too short. It should either automatically recognize that this is part of one sleep session or at least allow for those two sessions to be combined for the he sleep score and other features.

I am chronically ill and tend to get multiple sleeps in a day. My problem is that the app records my sleep per day as the average of each sleep instead of the total sleep / 7. This results in two sleeps of 5 hours each giving a lower average for the day than one sleep of 10 hours would have. It would really help me out to be able to see my true average sleep, especially when communicating with medical professionals.

Have found a work around for some of these problems.
Delete all sleep logs for the night.   Then enter new log with start of first sleep of the night, and end with last wake up of the night.  Enter.   Then back out of app and reenter.  Sync.   Sleep log should then show whole nights sleep as one.   Sometimes I have to reboot my phone before it works.
Naps during the day can't be incorporated.
Hope this helps.

I'm a newer Fitbit user and while I'm glad that other people have had the same idea as me (merging sleep logs) it's frustrating to see no response from Fitbit other than the original post having been reviewed by a moderator. Admittedly, this suggestion doesn't have a ton of upvotes, so maybe we're not a big enough group to be heard...yet! Anyway, I wanted to add my voice to this and give it another vote. Sleep well, Fitbit friends!

I often wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep. So I get up for an hour or two and read. Then I go back to bed. The results on fitbit sleep readings are two separate sleep pattern reports which I would like to see combined with a new sleep score based upon the combination of the two sleep periods.

Yes, my Sleep score is constantly off. I wake up for an hour many early morning. Go back to sleep. Together the two segments have 2hrs+ REM, 1 hr+ of Deep Sleep, 9.5 hours of time slept, and Fit Bit rates it 72?  Useless for tracking sleep. Oura, Whoop have more reasonable sleep algorithms.

Check thread for more details, but basic procedure is to note the end time
(final wake up) on the second segment, delete it, and then edit the first
segment’s end time to be where the second (now deleted) segment ended. This
will *usually* force fitbit to join the segments together. You can’t put a
later out time on the first segment without deleting the second one,
because fitbit senses a conflict.

The sleep analysis provided by my Fitbit Sense assumes only a single sleep phase and does not cater for biphasic sleepers eg. parents who regularly have 2 or more sleep phases when woken by children.

I have insomnia and would love to be able to link two sleep events together. ideally, the software would be able to recognize that a break of an hour or two in the middle of my standard sleep times are part of the same sleep period, as opposed to a nap during other parts of the day.

Improve Sleep Analysis in Fitbit app.

It Started back in 2015 (maybe earlier) users suggesting a merge feature in "Displaying Sleep Data"  into "one log per day", combining ALL Sleep Patterns, into the one "Daily Sleep Log".

It's now 2023, and nothing has changed.

Fitbit App Designers need to appreciate, such a simple merge is easily achievable, within the settings on the Fitbit application for ANDROID & IOS DEVICES.

Please comment on, why this function is not yet implemented, or even considered, as an important function. Of which "Thousands of Fitbit users" would appreciate, such a great option.

Please Update us all, for this "Lack of Response from Fitbit Support Team".

 Cheers.

Yes, please.

I thought this functionality would be already there. The software is very "lean startup."

If the dev team follows Google's practices, the app would get a lot better.

Lots of opportunity to make this app the best.

Well yes this merge was added (kind of) If a users wake period is 60 minutes or less the sleep periods will be merged.

However merging all sleep periods of the day would not be helpful for those that take naps durring the day.

Also since sleep is lounged in on the day the user wakes up. Do you want an evening nap merged with last night's sleep?

Past couple days my sleep is split into multiple timelines so I don't get a complete picture in one graph.

In FitBit Premium, about half the time my sleep is split into two parts, Sleep score, when reported, is then not for the whole night's sleep. What gives your programming fits? I use a CPAP and urinate frequently, so I awake 2-3 times a night, resulting in my sleep split in two portions, dropping some sleep segments altogether,
