I would love new destinations challenges like the NYC marathon and Yosemite! I get that the development team is probably a super busy group of people, so what about having a user-submitted feature? Provide a template where people can create their own with the distance, GPS tagged pics and maybe optional fun facts for the Jewel Challenges. That way the development team doesn't have to create a whole adventure, just review the submissions for appropriate content (and pics) and then make them accessible to all users. I'd love to share my area and the sights along my walks with the world!
I Wish That Too. I Believe That The Fitbit Company Are Too Stupid To Do That. If Everyone’s Asking And Complaining About That. I Think That They Would Be Working Harder To Please Their Customers. It Shows How Stupid They Are
2018 - year of "Fitbit do the opposite of what customers ask". No 2018 Goal Day this year and now they remove the New York challenges and adventures as well. There will be nothing left soon.
WE WANT MORE ADVENTURE CHALLENGES!! I just got into my Challenges this week and realized that now there are only the Yosemite, that the NYC Marathon Challenges are gone now. So instead of creating more, you are eliminating what you ceurrenly have? I continue to get more disappointed withe FitBit by the day. Maybe open up your platform to developers so others can come up with cool challenges too? It can only enhance what you currently desperately lack.(on top of poor community communications ability from the app...ugh)
If you want some additional motivation try https://www.walking4fun.com/my-walk/index.php. This is a fantastic app for virtually walking many trails around the country and around the world. It includes pics and videos of the trail you are walking, comments about the pictures, rewards for weekly steps, stages, and complete trails. it easily links to your Fitbit account for daily syncing. The app counts your steps per day, week, month, and year, gives you an approximate calories burned during you walk, and allows you to invite friends to walk with you. It's 100% free and will keep you from having to beg Fitbit to add another challenge. A rough guess is there are about 10,000 miles of current trails available and the app originator adds more as he can.
Thank you for sharing that. Unfortunately, that doesn’t help with the groups I put together in the FitBit app for these challenges. Can’t wait to check out your recommendation, though!
So @LanuzaFitbit and FitBit CEO what’s the scoop? Nothing has happened despite ample feedback other than “looking forward to your comments”. It’s obviously something your users would love, I’m sure even a paid model would find plenty of consumers.
unfortunately it must need more votes than it currently has - where as companies like Microsoft and Google can act after Approx 200 votes Fitbit don't feel the need to act as quickly - the response they have actioned though is to remove 3 solo adventures (NYC) therefore we now have even less - is this the future of things to come?? @SunsetRunner with the current situation I definitely would not pay for anything else from Fitbit - the time take to action anything be it Suggestions or Fixes to seemingly simple faults like a time on a graph (2 years nearly) and food logging ( months nearly) clearly the concern of the customer is not first and foremost for this company only releasing new hardware even if they have not got the software to support it - a previous comment by a community member mentioned a 3rd party app that can be linked to Fitbit I have noticed that it also does groups wither they are transferable between apps I don't know but you could ask the guy from the other site ( the Adventures are very big in most part but interesting and they are just about to add videos of certain areas also)
I think it’s a reasonable business model for FitBit to offset costs of developing more adventures with an in-app purchase. The 3rd party app integration is not attractive, too much data sharing. That being said the current state with just 3 Yosemite adventures is pretty sad. Would be better to remove all challenges if there is no commitment to enhance user experience.
this is a general comment but would like to give another idea to @SunsetRunner I agree to some extent, but, IMO not everyone wants to continuously pay for everything especially when there are so many places you can get it for free, in app purchases are not always the way ahead nor would it give any guarantees (people that use in app purchases to promote better options is normally their only source of income - Fitbit have multiple other streams of income and should not have to offset any more costs), but, to put some food for thought into your suggestion you seem unhappy to share a name and a step count with an app but you seem very willing to share bank details (I know what I would prefer to get into the wrong hands) the internet is not safe whatever measures you have in place and.. I also think that the extent of the data already shared with outside sources is underestimated and is sent via Fitbit/ any other site you use whether it be anonymous or not, your data is still being used and is what you signed up for.. (this is just an observation and is in no way meant to be disrespectful but meant to give another side that must be considered) just think of the Emails/adverts you receive you can google Fitbit trackers and for weeks after you will get adverts with Fitbit trackers and various sites you log into
3rd Party integration is also not my first go to point but is better than have stuff taken off of us and no reasons (ie we have removed NYC to make way for lets say for example Disney land adventure that is split into the various Disney platforms (I realise this may have a copyright issue but is only a suggestion to make a point)) ,,, as a suggestion to Fitbit IF a 3rd party needs to be used ie MFP, Weight Watchers etc we should be able to access it via our Fitbit login and just use our username and only have those details passed on instead of having to sign up to various sites and enter Fitbit from there (IE Walking App that will take your username step count and stride length - the new app can then work out the rest from there without having access to you personal details and should the new app wish to contact you it would be via Fitbit)(again think of how facebook contacts you with friend updates etc your facebook friends if different from your personal friends do not have access to you private email), this I agree with @SunsetRunner and leaves too much data and personal information on too many sites (you can now log into various accounts using either Google / Facebook logins) both of which have had security issues but both continue to be freely used by customers ( ie I can now log in to Youtube and Fitbit, using either my facebook or my google account ) how much information is being passed between these sites and how do they recognise your Log in to another site.
the removal of such incentives should not be an option as it is these that are the only source of motivation for some users and can be used to judge improvements by logging the times it takes to complete each task then by doing it again and seeing if they can beat it by an hour, a day etc
But in an Ideal world Fitbit would listen to their customers more , add a few more adventures for choice and not take them away and also fix issues in a timely manner again months/years to solve simple issues is not timely.
and a final food for thought IF Fitbit teams are so stretched they cannot provide the service in a specific time scale there are plenty of programmers/IT experts on this site as members that could help with producing this sort of stuff so why not on the development page have competitions to produce things like fixes/adventures/improvements and have vouchers as prizes ie top prize a new tracker top end (Versa/Ionic) or £200 voucher or US equivalent plus the use of that programme on site the same with second (mid range tracker (Alta HR, Charge 3) or £150 / US equivalent and 3rd prize you get where I am going maybe have a few incentive places 4-6 as well like vouchers for accessories that can be used for straps(bands) Spare chargers, head phones etc etc - I know that not everyone would be able to participate but it could speed up the solving of problems, and producing programmes/links etc and allow the Fitbit team to work on security/stability issues and designing new hardware etc
not meant to be anything but another POV to be considered please don't take offence as none of this is meant to be aggressive just constructive at a logical level - it may work it may not just an option
There are many other sources to get "rewards" while using your fitbit..I am currently using Achievement, ($10.00 for each 10k points), Walking4Fun (no cash rewards, but many trails to make your local walk a little more "worldly", and another App fitbit (rhymes with Fret Loin) won't allow me to post the name. Can't link Fitbit, but uses GPS to track steps, rewards include $1000 paypal gift, or trip to Borneo to put your newfound health to good use. There are others that let you donate to charity, and others still for different areas of the world. I have given up on Fitbit to ever add any more challenges, badges (4000 miles to the next badge??? Ridiculous), or virtual walks..Yet I expect the blaze 4 to be out any day followed by the 5 then 6. I think their products are pretty good, but part of the lure of the fitbit is the community and rewards that come with it..Now that I have over 8K miles I really don't need them for motivation, but it was nice to get a new badge once in a while. As I have pointed out many times in the past, there are many devices you can use to track your fitness goals, my deciding on Fitbit was due to the background stuff, not necessarily the tracker. Now that there seems to very few other accomplishments I can obtain (1 more distance, 2 more floors), if my tracker craps out on me I will probably move to a different vendor. Emujo
Edit---I even had a chat with the Walk4fun page admin. He has written to Fitbit offering to link up, but has not even been given a no, just no response...
There should be more challenges for 1 participant. None of my friends have Fitbit (yet!) but there is nothing like the bling - virtual or not - to help someone stay focused and push them to do more! Moet challenges need 2 minimum.
