More condition/symptoms on Menstrual Health Tracking

Some obvious ones I don’t feel are listed in the conditions, things I like to note during my cycle.  A big one which a lot of women suffer with like Bloating and sleep deprivation.

Some ideas that could be listed in conditions

bloated (RELEASED!)

sleep deprivation (vote here!)

gassy/windy

back pain (vote here!)

increased appetite (vote here!)

high stress (RELEASED!)

high energy (RELEASED!)

dizziness (vote here!)

decrease appetite (vote here!)

clotting

constipation / diarrhea (vote here!)

PMS (vote here!)

cravings (vote here!)

HCG levels

anxiety (RELEASED!)

the list im sure goes on..

maybe there could be a bit that allows you to write in a notes on whichever days the individual needs. Every woman cycle changes and being able to write a note when those changes happened would be good.

I think a pregnancy mode is definitely needed also where women can log stages in their pregnancy and also make notes where needed.  And then I think maybe something for after pregnancy breastfeeding etc.

I'd like to second what prophet1022 had to say about starting with at least a few new general categories in the female tracking section.

I absolutely love this new feature! I like that I can start keeping things all in one place, all tidy in one app with reminders from just one app. Right now though, I still feel like I need to use the "Lady Timer" app (which I named so you could check it out for ideas) to supplement what Fitbit is missing Smiley Sad

I have a friend who really likes this new feature too, but still has to use a different app to log all of her symptoms.

Adding a "Notes" section would be a huge bonus, as would the following:

Sex drive (high, medium, low, none)

Ability to choose more than one discharge type, it does sometimes change throughout the day

Ability to choose both spotting and a discharge

Allowing a period to go longer than 10 days for some of us that have PCOS or other medical conditions causing irregularities a single period can be 14 days

And finally, instead of dragging the dates only it would be nice to click "Start" and "End" on the selected day(s). Some phone cases make it difficult to correctly slide to select the days (or maybe that's just me and my sausage fingers).

I like the new Female health tracker, but it needs more options for me during the month, emotional, physical, health. I liked those from Clue, but like the Fitbit one instead of accessing an outside app

Agree so much to more tracking possibilities.

I recently started using the Fitbit app again and noticed the female health tracking had been added.

I love that I can now track this in my health app, but I really wish I could add sex drive, PMS and energy levels.

The sex drive thing goes hand in hand with hormones around ovulation, so the ability to track that would be a big help to predict your cycle. The ability to put in PMS would be very helpful with this too.

Regarding energy levels; I get awful cramps and very low energy (sleeping for two-three days straight), the days leading up to my period. Being able to track that would be a very helpful feature as well.

I love that a period tracker feature was added to the app, but I wish it had more symptoms you could log. It currently only has 5 options under "Conditions," but there are so many other things that women's periods can affect! I have the Eve. app as well, and while it's silly to use two different apps to track the same thing, I still use it because it offers 12 different symptoms to choose from, in addition to other emotional/hormonal changes caused by your cycle to log too. If Fitbit's period tracker feature were to add more features like this, I'd be able to condense down to only tracking on Fitbit, which would be awesome.

I, too, like the new female health tracking feature. But also agree with many other comments that more customization is necessary to make this truly useful for every individual.

Since there are so many different measurements that people are looking for, might I suggest creating customizable measurements that work much like capturing weight (myfitnesspal has a feature like this). The second part of this would be allowing users to graphically view this information against the period calendar.

(A) Customizable measurements. This feature would benefit all genders; users could create custom data logs: log type + unit of measurement. Weight + lbs, waist + in, hips + in, neck + in, blood glucose  + mg/dl, basal body tem + °F, migrane + y/n, bloated + y/n, etc, etc. could be added by an individual per their own tracking needs.

(B) Graphical representation. Possibly allow users to lay two graphs/calendars over each other (picture two drop down fields, one graph). Line graph of my weight with the days of the period/ovulation shaded, so I can see how my weight fluctuates during my period. Line graph of my resting heart rate with the days of the period/ovulation shaded, so I can see how my heart rate can be a predictor of period/ovulation. Calendar of my period/ovulation with a prominent icon (more than just a dot) of the selected symptom.

The idea being that the data can be used to predict (and hopefully better control/cope with) the symptoms associated with our activity/diet/cycle. It has already been helpful to me to notice that my ophthalmic migraines occur around ovulation. If I could better predict ovulation (using bbt? hr? other?) maybe I could cut them off at the pass.

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

Lisa

I think that this tile could be elevated by some small additons. First, the tile includes a few ‘conditions’ but is lacking some common ones (for example, back pain). Additionally, a ‘mood’ section would be very helpful.

I agree with this suggestion.

Maybe  include a few more preset symptoms; but also include a way to customize, edit or create any number of symptoms with a choice of generic icons so trends can be identified at a glance as well as included in a graphical summary. A note section is great too but each entry would have to reviewed individually to provide any trending or pattern.

I am optimistic that the female health tracker will one day be useful, but it has much to be improved, Right now it looks more or less like a period predictor, and not a very accurate one. It is based on patterns, but rhythm methods of predicting fertility are only useful for those who are always exact on the date. Despite what you may of been told in health class, a large chunk of the female population do not have "regular" periods.  Fertile mucus, cervix changes, and temperature changes are far more accurate in predicting fertility and when to expect Aunt Flo.

Suggestions- get rid of "unusual" mucus (what is that suppose to mean anyway?) and add "dry" or "no mucus" and "wet"

Add cervical observations like "High" "Low" "Open" "Closed" "Soft" "Hard". I know only NFP fan would be interested in this, but for us it is helpful in predicting fertility and periods.

Change the wording of protected and unprotected sex. There is nothing dangerous about me being intimate with my spouse the way my body was designed, So please don't call what I do "unprotected". If someone out there is using latex, it can be added under birth control.

Finally, get the Plan B option off my screen. Nothing more depressing then someone asking if I remembered to attempt a chemical abortion after I was with my husband. And yes, Plan B, can prevent implantation, so it can cause a chemical abortion. I know some people treat it like birth control, but then it should be listed under birth control, right?

All of these ideas are great. I think there should be an option to track medication usage. I have had a hysterectomy and need to take migraine medication during the days of my non-existent period. Since I don't have many symptoms, it would be great to track and predict my "period ". Right now, since I don't have physical symptoms to track, it makes it harder for the app to predict when my cycle begins. I know I am probably not the only one who needs to track medication for their cycle.

I am really enjoying the new Female Health Tracking option on Fitbit, but I am finding it lacking in options.  I suffer from middle pains, almost monthly now, for about 2 years.  I want to be able to keep track of my ovulation symptoms and severity of those symptoms; pain type (ovary vs uterus) , ovulation side (left or right), but the only option I can use is cramps.  There is so much more to a woman's cycle then "cramps".  What I feel during ovulation is NOT "cramps".  Please, either build out the options of symptoms listed in the app or give your users the option to create a list of their own symptoms to track.  Since every woman experiences something different with their cycle, Im hoping for the latter.    Here are some suggestions for conditions to be added if we cannot create our own.

Ovulation pain - left

Ovulation pain - right

Uterine pain

Back cramps/pain

Anxiety

Constipation

Diarrhea

Dizziness

Fatigue

Depression

Salty cravings

Sweet cravings

Another vote here for "notes", since not all symptoms can be addressed (quick to anger, unidentifiable sadness, and frankly I like to track the type of protection used during sex).

I couldn’t agree with this more!

When I got Fitbit, I deleted another app that I had on my phone used for this purpose, because I thought having it all integrated would be great!

But this section is severely lacking! It feels like it’s been designed by someone who has never had a period.

I want button options for more symptoms (irritability/mood instability, cravings (salty, sweet, carbs), medication use/pain management, etc).

I’d prefer them as buttons so they could also show up in the Trends analysis.

After including the more common symptoms as buttons, then maybe a notes section to capture other things. And yes - a pregnancy indicator!

I love the menstrual cycle tracker, absolutely brilliant.

Can you add a wider range of "conditions" (there's far more PMS symptoms than the few you have listed) and the option for Customisable Conditions. I want to be able to accurately log all the symptoms I experience, and not have to use the best fit from what's available.

This would also be invaluable for tracking cycles and symptoms as I navigate perimenopause (eek!).

I totally agree with what is posted. Someone suggested a few categories to add and I think these were all great options!

Alternatively (or additionally) you could let people define themselves which symptoms to track? Like give them 3 to 5 options that they can.name themselves  because every woman seems to track different things.

YESSSS. I can't believe "fatigue" is not on there.....this seems so obvious. And it'd be great to be able to write a note down.

It's great that there's a new feature to track women's menstrual cycles. But please provide more than the five condition options! Perhaps there's an option to type in conditions (like when logging activities in the exercise section) or if you need specific conditions, how about (1) tired / groggy, (2) nausea (this is not the same as "sick, which judging by the logo means "ill"), (3) hot flushes, (4) low mood.

This will help women to track ovulation issues as well as periods, and fluctuations in mood (I would like to see something that captures focus or concentration, which is kind of what I mean by "grogginess" , which is impacted by hormone changes), which would be far more inclusive. As it stands the categories are a little too broad and too few to be really useful.

I think it would be amazing to see some other symptoms; right now there's just fluid, a few symptoms, and flow. Some women (myself included) track BBT and energy levels among the others that other people have listed. I think having more symptoms or a notes section would be super helpful.

I also have PCOS and use another app to track my symptoms when I have a cyst rupture. It is VERY helpful for my gynecologist to be able to show her my exact symptoms on the exact dates when this occurs. It would be WONDERFUL if there was a “Notes” section in the female health tile where we can document “unusual” symptoms on any day, not just period days. Thank you!

It would be great to have an "other" button on the female health tracking where you could input your own information.  For instance, some women may have a symptom they are monitoring that isn't listed.  Or, they may have an event that they want to take note of (e.g., removed IUD, or something else) that they want to put in the calendar.  This would give users flexibility to use the calendar how they want to.

Love this idea! I saw this limited options for "discharge/fluid" and was a little bummed that there were only 3-4 options. Dry or no discharge should DEFINITELY be an option. Please add it.

I would also like to see a separate option for emotional symptoms, a mood tracker per se.  This can be very helpful when trying to track your cycle and if something is out of sync.  It can also be very helpful when working with your health professionals.

Yes, would  love additional symptoms or ability to create own/note it down. I can suffer badly with tiredness and would like to track that through too. SO much potential!

Please add mood changes to the Female health tracker. As someone with depression and anxiety, it's helpful to see patterns of mood and how they're related to the other metrics that are tracked with my fitbit.

I would love to see these suggestions implemented. At the very least bloating. In addition, here are some additional suggestions:

Moodiness

Irritable
Angry
Depressed
Fatigue
Constipation
Diarrhea

Yes!! Even if we can’t just select a symptom from a list, an area to add notes would be helpful. I’d add night sweats as a listed symptom to those above. In addition to mood tracking (irritability, sadness, anxious). I’m a mental health therapist and know the importance of tracking moods with your cycle to help determine if they are hormonal or not.
