After the screen on my Alta hr finally gave up o decided it was time to upgrade. I procrastinated for a while between another Fitbit or an Apple Watch. Then once I read about the new Versa 3 having GPS in that made up my mind, no more running with my phone hurrah! Only now have I realised that while you may have added the gps you have taken the music storage option away WHY?! How can you bring out a new model and remove a key feature 😕
Music on the device is a must. All the other brand allow personal music, Versa 2 allow personal music. VERSA3 No (also if they wrote on the box "storage music")!!!!!! I will move to a more serius brand like GARMIN only for the music reason.
Fitbit's decision to not allow personal music storage on Versa 3 does not make sense. Fitbit needs to restore this functionality that was previously available on Versa 2.
Wow am I glad I found this out now. I’ve been going back and forth between Versa 3 and Apple Watch and decided on the Versa for a Christmas present for my wife. But without being able to store personal music it is a 100% deal breaker. Back to Apple
Disappointing that you cannot store your own music, or use a podcast / music app that doesn’t require a premium subscription. the storage space is clearly there as freezer and Spotify can use it for offline content, just it’s locked and unusable for users without additional cost.very disappointing as it means you need to take your phone with you again to listen to music. Some way to slow users to store their own would be good - I.e a choice of “I’m using premium services” or “I’m doing my own thing”.
I like many more was looking forward to the Versa 2, I searched for news about it on a regular basis once I heard Google had bought them and understood that better Android integration would be in place with a new version. And the Versa 3 came out, waited for some reviews, and the chock... Yea, the watch seems great, but without the offline music capability (I already have my choice in streaming services thank you very much) I can't justify buying it. I'm probably going with the Galaxy watch 3 instead of no news comes out soon.
Absolutely. Competitor devices( Galaxy Watch, Huawei Watch GT 2, Amazfit) all have this feature and great battery. If fitbit omit, they might be left behind.
I need to be able to store my music on my Versa 3. May have to take it back to the store and just go with Garmin. Can't believe I went through all this work to find out I can not store my music on this watch. Cheez.
After finally converting my husband to Fitbit I bought him a Versa 3 for Christmas- selling point - won’t need to carry his phone. It’s now being returned due to its inability to allow own music and insisting we use streaming services we don’t currently have. Shot yourself in the foot there Fitbit
Just set up my new Versa 3. Was v happy with it until I realised no offline music support. Unfortunately it will be going straight back. Big oversight.
Extremely disappointed to discover this AFTER just purchasing a Versa 3. This is a massive step backwards, having music onboard the original Versa was a huge benefit not having to take a phone or mp3 player on a run. Like others on this thread, now debating sending it back for a refund and reverting back to the original Versa while I consider other options.
My Charge 2 died so decided to upgrade to something else. Was sorely tempted by a Garmin Vivoactive 3 but decided to stick with Fitbit and go for the slightly more expensive Versa 3 after a bit of research. Nowhere did see anything about the Versa 3 not being able to store personal music as the Versa 2 was able to do! 😡 Feeling ripped off and now considering my options ....
Please allow Versa 3 to allow storage of personal music. I've already paid for all the music in my Itunes collection so why should I have to pay for it from someone else?
Yesterday ( 29 Dec 2020) my wife who is using Versa2 gifted me with Versa 3. We always loved to offline storage Music app at versa 2 which will allow to keep away phone while at gym or outdoor activity. But fit bit instead of an upgrade they actually degraded when moved to Versa 3 by removing their well known feature. Only If I am looking fitbit as activity tracker, why should I pay a hefty money where I could purchase Mi band for 25 $ which may give 5 % less accurate than fitbit and that error margin is okay since I am not going for any Olympics.
In other thread, customer executive mentioned that its difficult to have music app by just making patch updates since OS has got major switch from versa 2 to 3
I am not a fan of apple ecosystem, I loved scalability of Android family. But now I cant find any better alternative for iWatches in Andriod segment. Only Oppo is having beautiful watch (apple copy, but who cares copy or clone , quality matters) even though still missing with latest snapdragon 4100 processor. Really confused now what to take next. But once thing is very clear, I will be returning Versa 3 in a day.
Yea this is a pretty trash way to try and make extra cash. I like the versa 3 for the most part. The touch button isnt as good as most but other then that appears to be good. Then the details of 9.99 to see all of the information the watch is capable of gathering is a joke (after 90 day free) then you cherry on top it with forcing another subscription for the music apps you choose with no alternative. i would keep the watch and just not have premium fitbit service but stopping us from putting our own music? have fun with all the returns fitbit.
I am very happy that Fitbit added the integrated GPS into the versa 3 and I also had the impression that you can store music into it as it was marking the fact that you can now leave your phone at home while working out. Very disappointing from a company like Fitbit that tries to push you to spend money on monthly subscriptions to be able to listen to music. I also read all comments and found out the Garmin has some models with both offline music and GPS integration so I am seriously considering selling my versa 3 and purchasing a Garmin now.
Got the Versa 3 for Christmas excited to finally join the rest of my family. Now I find this disappointment. I listen to audiobooks while running. There is no possible way to do that through spotify or deezer. I would need to be able to put my own audio files onto the watch like every other version up till this has let you.
You have the space for my audio files or else you wouldn't be able to fit all these special apps you want me to download. You have the ability to play audio files or else spotify and the like wouldn't work either.
What you have here is a clear choice to partner with these media apps and force our hands to chose them or nothing.
Christmas gift or now, a dick move like that makes me want to return it and shop elsewhere.
I appreciate there's only so much space and processor capacity on the little Versa 3, but to advertise "music experiences" and then not allow offline audio storage on the watch is, frankly, misleading.
Not everyone wants to use the limited library of a streaming service. I prefer podcasts or audiobooks on long runs and I've got a ton of iTunes files I'd want to be able to use.
It seems a disingenuous or even sneaky step to try and claim the Versa 3 has the music functionality of the Versa 2, when it simply hasn't, and is bound to cause a lot of ill-feeling and probably some returned units.
Yes, I think of it as sneaky. I decided to take my Versa 3 back and I purchased the Versa 2. I am a slave to the history on Fitbit, otherwise I would buy a different brand. Matter-of-fact the next time my Fitbit dies I will purchase a different brand. Looking at Withings -looks better and has EKG.
I took my husbands back too, he will now get a Garmin and we will all change as soon as we can. Deceptive to market this in such a way. We even took out a subscription to Spotify at £14.99 a month as we thought this would solve the need to take a phone to hear music. Fitbit you should be ashamed - I’m furious
