In what universe is this an upgrade? I was so excited to leave my bulky phone at home for runs and come to find out I have to take it with me anyways to play music?? Absolutely insane decision by Fitbit, will probably return for a Garmin if they don't come to their senses
I've been a Fitbit user for about 6 years and I owned 3 Fitbit devices.
My old Versa 1 died last week and I was thinking to upgrade to Versa 3, but I found several reasons to run away from Fitbit:
Versa 3 looses this functionality to store music in the device. Fitbit enforces to pay for music premium services.
Fitbit support is the worst support that I ever seen in gadgets:
No way to repair broken devices (no repair centers available)
No way to identify if root cause of the problem is software or hardware
If you are out of warranty period...then you are enforced to buy a new device.
All 3 Fitbit devices I owned 'died' just few weeks after finishing warranty period. Fitbit support just provides a discount to buy a new Fitbit device. Suspicious. Is this programmed technology obsolescence?
Fitbit Pay is the most limited payment system. Very few banks or cards accept Fitbit Pay
Changing time when you are abroad and there is no 3G/4G/Wifi is not possible, so you kee travelling with home time, not the time of the country you are travelling to.
Fitbit development is not responsive at all
So...I think I found the end of the road in Fitbit. It makes no sense to buy a new Fitbit device
It was disappointing that I couldn't add my music to my newly purchased Versa 3. I was wanting to walk and listen to music without carrying my phone. Fitbit folks please do a patch so folks can upload their personal music. Why would you remove that choice?
I have owned several Fitbit devices in my weight loss journey from over 500 lbs to 227 lbs. I have owned a charge 2, 3, blaze, versa 1, 2 and now 3. Before opening the box I wanted to see if the process of transferring music was the same for the versa 2 and 3, well I was shocked to learn that you have to subscribe to a pay service to get music !?! Looks like I am sending back the Versa 3. Not smart guys.
I just received the Versa 3 yesterday. I was looking forward to testing out the new features. I am disappointed that the Versa 3 doesn’t allow us to transfer music locally onto the watch. The device is almost void of purpose if we need to continue to carry our phone around (which can do all the same things and more). This is a step in the wrong direction and I wonder if I should return it . Additionally, I thought this watch would work like other smart watches, but the apps developed are extremely limited (no Amazon apps, no Dunkin app - only Starbucks). It’s very disappointing. Not what I expected. I will give it a few more days, but I may return it and get the Apple Watch.
I just got my new versa 3, and like everyone else I'm reading is very confused and disappointed that you can't add your own personal music to your watch? This isn't an upgrade if the versa 2 could do it, but the versa 3 can't? PLEASE add the option for personal music, i have my own music i want to listen to and add, and i don't feel it's fair to have to pay for a service when you have to pay enough for the watch to begin with. Very disappointed with this, and if i would of known that before i bought the versa 3,i would of kept my versa 2 before i sold it. Thinking i was upgrading and if the versa 2 could, why wouldn't the versa 3 be able to? Please update ASAP!! Or i think you will have many more disappointed and upset customers.
Came from a Versa 2 to a Versa 3 - I assumed that adding GPS would remove the need to run with a phone - I cannot understand how any Product Manager would make the decision to have no offline music ability. This needs to be fixed either through all the streaming partners or back to personal music loading.
I was looking at purchasing the Versa 3 but after hearing that you can’t install your own music it doesn’t seem to be the best choice in the current market.
I can't even get the music download software to act correctly now. I downgraded to fitbit connect software and now load music by playlist which the software identifies as an "ionic" instead of "versa 2" - at least this works for now. I have dozens of custom -equalized mp3's I'm not willing to stop using to pay for a not needed and expensive music service. I don't think the newer versa 3 and other smartwatches from fitbit have the ability to store music any more, not just a software issue, so I'll eventually switch to Garmin, just hate to lose the past data.
Shoot, just bought the Versa 3 and after a week I found out I couldn't upload my own mp3's to the Versa. Because my old Versa 1 could do it, i was not even considering that the Versa 3 doesn't support this function. Why add GPS (YAAAAAY!!!!) and remove this feature? All because of money and deals? Why?
I am considering to send the phone back :s
Please make me regret it and put the function back next week!!!
