Music storage on Sense/Versa 3

Please allow Sense to storage Music (mp3) just like Ionic, Versa, Versa 2.

Yep, but I suspect for them it is purely an economic issue that comes down to how much they are getting from that music subscription you are forced to subscribe to versus how many people are upset about it enough that they will not be buying their new watches.

My Ionic has GPS and yet can still store 200 songs in it, and it is three years old so I doubt the amount of storage is less today.  Now I could live with only storing say 100 or even 50 songs, but I will not be buying any watch that does not allow me to listen to my music while exercising.

Fitbit needs to make the functionality that allows you to play and store your own music available on Versa 3. Hope that this can be corrected with a future OS software update. Fitbit will lose potential sales because can't store and play personal music files directly on Versa 3.

Extremely disappointed with Fitbit (Google) I must say, buying a watch with GPS and not having the ability to store your own music is just preposterous.

Forcing potential customers to go with Pandora and Deezer is dumb. Long time Fitbit and Android fan but this watch is definitely going back to Kohls unless something changes before December 15th. Wake up Fitbit, you are going to lose a lot of current and future customers when you force them to pick the bottom rung music streaming player on the market or for that matter not allowing customers to bring their own music.

I just purchased a brand new Versa 3. Very impressed with all the tracking metrics and software, but I am disgusted with the fact that they removed the ability to store music on the device for offline use. I was looking forward to taking my Versa 3 to the gym and leaving my phone behind. I will be returning this device and purchasing a Garmin smartwatch.

Great job Fitbit, you have just cost yourself yet another customer because of this nonsense.

@SunsetRunnerit would be very interesting to know with this really stupid move how many users have lost fitbit and how many devices have returned back to Amazon ...
I'm sure this has caused a big problem for FitBit and will cause more until they decide to fix it and humbly apologize to their users (or former users). Personally I will give them until the end of the Amazon return period and if it is not as it should be, they will permanently lose another user.

My girlfriend decided to bought me the Versa 3 as a present because the ability to store and reproduce music not available in the Charge 4. This was the key point to our choice. Our surprise was that we can't use the Versa 3 for that unless with a paid subscription from Deezer. This is obviously misleading advertising when you buy the watch as it should be clearly stated in the specifications and I refuse to pay for a subscription. It is very common that people notice that I am wearing the Versa 3 and inquire about it, I am recommending them to stay away from it as much as possible and its policy of making you pay for features that should be included. Please, reconsider your position.

Just arrived the update of the Sense fw 44.128.4.15 with the menu to activate the Google voice assistant (now disabled); no trace of the possibility of saving mp3s locally 😶

What I love about this is that they delete the comments, but like me, many people get emails into their junk folder of people’s replies and therefore have copies of said deleted comments. So I’ve a nice list of suggested alternatives. 🙂

One issue now is that they are riding the pre Christmas high where many people are buying these watches for family members, unaware of issues such as lack of music. This will eventually lead to returns where possible or people selling second hand and resulting in fewer new sales. So two factor there, just not yet occurring.

Now depending on how granular Fitbit are in their approach to measuring performance, there is a good chance on paper they look like they are doing well as general purchases combined with holiday purchases, once set against current returns, the sales still appear to be higher. If they took a more granular approach to the data and applied a bit of sense they would see the good performance is most likely temporary.

Have you noticed that Fitbit discounted their watches for the holiday season?

The Sense is now discounted by $50.

The competition is great with the other watches.

But without the ability of downloading my own music, it still is not worth it.

My wife preordered the Versa 3 thinking that she could load songs or playlists onto the phone outside of using a subscription based service (she didn't click through the deceptive top page and read that it was only for Deezer, Pandora, or Spotify).  Up until now, she was impressed with the Versa 3.  One of the main reasons she bought the Versa 3 was for GPS-logged runs with music without having to have a phone on her, but with everything going on in our lives right now hasn't had a chance to try to load some music onto it (not using Deezer, Pandora, or Spotify to which we don't, and never will, subscribe to).  While researching the Sense, I came across this and clued her into the fact that, apparently, this is not possible.  Needless to say, she was sorely disappointed and even called Fitbit support.  The first person she talked to said that it was possible and that they would send instructions on how to do so.  The instructions received were on how to CONTROL music, not LOAD music.  I keep telling her this isn't possible.  She called back and got the runaround a little more before giving up and requested a return.  Unfortunately, we're outside of the return period and Fitbit won't take it back.  Needless to say, I won't be ordering a Sense because of Fitbit's BS money-grab antics and the Versa 3 is likely going to get sold on a popular online auction site so she can buy something that actually works.

Been shopping around for the GPS model of the FitBit (Versa 3) and realized the local music storage feature was removed in place of requiring a subscription to Pandora or Deezer.  Neither of which I have ever used and refuse to shell out $10 a month for.  I pay Spotify monthly already.  Now you want me to either carry my phone around when I run to control Spotify or pay $120 a year to listen to 1-2 hours of music.  Terrible decision.  I'll retire from FitBit and move on to Garmin which I had considered in the past but I wanted to stick with FitBit.  This feature removal of local music storage was definitely the deal breaker.  Bye FitBit

Stupid decision to remove offline music.  Just bought Active 2 for my wife, it is really good and has more features then Versa 3 at the same price. Thanks to Fitbit team for removing the offline music otherwise I would have bought Fitbit and never get a chance to experience  other brands.

Will order a Samsung Watch 3 soon for myself.

It is unacceptable that the music storage functionality in the Verse 2 is not in the Verse 3!  If Fitbit is striving to serve the fitness community, then please listen to them. I didn't realize this functionality was not present in the Verse 3, so I will be returning it.

Is there an update to this?  This functionality needs to be put into production for the Versa 3.  What is the motivation to get this watch if major functionality was removed and replaced with only forced paid subscriptions?  You can't even just use a basic music streaming account.  This is unacceptable, and there are hundreds of comments that agree.  When will something be done to remedy this?

My Versa 2 watch was a great investment up until it died after 1 year of use. I bought it in October of 2019 luckily with a warranty at Macys. I contacted Fitbit about the issue and they offered to replace the pebble only with a receipt proof of purchase.

Instead, I took the watch to Macys to avail the warranty and they replaced it with the Versa 3. I informed Fitbit about the replacement arrangement with Macys, and they now changed their offer to replace the Versa 2 pebble if I could produce a proof of purchase for the Versa 2 bands, which I did not have. 😞

Moving forward,  I have been using the Versa 3 since it was exchanged a few days ago, and although it has many upgrades and cool features, the biggest disappointment is that I am unable to transfer personal music. What I loved about the Versa 2 was the freedom to transfer music without having to pay monthly subscriptions. I also enjoyed my runs and exercises without having to bring my bulky phone with me

In addition, I also noticed that I do not have the option to install Pandora or Deezer to my account. Per Deezer, I found that the app was not available for my region. With Pandora, I'm not sure what happened. I can't seem to find it on the search icon under All Apps. This leads me with only the Spotify app to use.

After subscribing to Spotify premium, I discovered that in order to use the app, I am required to have my phone nearby or on hand while I exercise. I feel this defeats the purpose and is a deal breaker for me.

I contacted Fitbit support, and they suggested this community board. If our feedback gets enough votes, they might do something about it!

I apologize for the lengthy feedback. Your assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time. 🙂

As Fitbit think it’s acceptable to ignore their customers & delete our comments. We need to start bombarding  them on Social Media warning people not to but the Versa 3 or Sense if they want to downgraded their watch.

It’s unacceptable when the watch’s cost so much to downgrade the specs and remove this feature.

Why should we have to pay for music subscription on top of the watch. They then expect you to pay for premium features on top off that.

They should rename themselves Ebenezer Scrooge especially with it being so close to Christmas.

Perhaps  3 ghosts will visit them and show them the huge stupid error they’ve made.

What a collosal mistake this is. Please update the app FitBit music so I can play my own music. Pandora and Spotify is trash, i have my own catalog of music, dj sets, etc that aren't listed there,

Big mistake to remove the music capability.  I am a long time Fitbit user on my third device.  The music app is something I use 4 to 5 times a week in the gym or on runs.  Does the product manager who made the decision to remove this capability still have a job?  It is nice to have the GPS option but what good is a GPS option if you have to bring your phone to access your music collection?

I just got my refund so am writing again now. FitBit is Extremely out of touch with this topic and it doesn't even seem like they know what is going on. When I told them my reason for returning, they sent me the links on how to Sync music to my device. Yeah you guessed it, the links which say that if you have Sense like mine, it doesn't work. How are we to expect FitBit to fix the issue, if they can't even recognize they have one. Anyway, glad I got rid of the piece of expensive junk.

Just picked up the versa 3, which I thought was an upgrade to my original versa.  Was headed home to sync my playlist and headphones for a run in the morning only to discover that I'm not able to upload my personal music.  I don't have Pandora, Deezer, or any other paid app to listen to music because I refuse to pay for any of them when I already own music that I like to run to.

REALLY FITBIT? You remove the one thing that made me upgrade my watch?  Never is there any mention anywhere that you can't upload your music anywhere before I purchased this watch?  How do you make something better by taking away features that everyone loves?  I'm back to the store with this thing tomorrow to get my $199 back, and the bands I purchased.

I will slap back on my old versa until you figure out how to listen to your customers and create a product that we love.  If not with all the fitness watches out there I will pick one that lets me upload some tunes and get my run on without....it's been a good run but I guess it had to end somewhere!

PS: let me know what you decide!

cant believe i just shelled out for a sense and now regret it  - playing music from my versa in the gym was essential, gutted. I dont want to have my phone with me all the time.

I absolutely loved having my own music in my versa. So when I got my Fitbit Sense I was thrilled, but then discovered that the music can not be.put on the device and you can it listen to Spotify or Deezer! Why not Amazon as you already have Alexa I don't get it, but I will not pay for another subscription service when I have Amazon music and hundreds of tracks/albums I have paid for over the years.  Come in Fitbit listen to your customers why take away something that worked well (except adding the music that was a huge pain!) For something that costs extra money???😡😡😡

Hi @LEAD2CRM, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see "Music" storage on Sense. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.
