I'm in the same boat as everyone who's already commented above. I have ordered a Versa 3 for the main purpose of GPS and the ability to play music without having to lug my phone around. Now I find out they have removed this feature from the so called next model up! How ridiculous. I'm extremely disappointed and am thinking about sending it back when it arrives. C'mon Fitbit... Take us all SERIOUSLY and DO something about it.
I know the status is on Reviewed by Moderator but we (as a community)'re losing people due to just this disadvantage and I don't like that feeling. As the community grows, the devices and services will be better. So I really care about it, Do you care about it too?
So please, let the user and new customers, WHEN we're going to be able to storage music "without paying for another service"? So we can decide If it's going to be worth it or if we have to return the device due to that missing feature.
Note: I'm really excited about my Fitbit Sense that It's on my way.
Thank you PatriSol for sealing the decision for me NOT to get the Sense. I was thinking about it cause it now has the ECG feature like the Apple Watch. Although I’m an IOS user I refuse to buy the Iwatch for the price. I now own the Fitbit Aria Scale and I love it. But being able to put some music on my watch is important to me. So now I guess I’ll wait it out for a better Watch to come out. Thanks
I bought this thinking I could download my own music, your advertising was not clear here. Very misleading considering previous models allowed this. Jeez, did Spotify, Pandora and Deezer(never heard of them before) pay you? I can't believe I need a subscription to a third party to use a feature advertised on the product, at least let me connect my non-premium memberships and play music with WIFI or while the phone is nearby or something, this is ridiculous. I am seriously considering returning, this was one of the main selling points for me.
The whole point of a watch with GPS and music onboard is to go on runs/workout without your phone, but it seems to you the whole point is to go on runs/workout without your phone ONLY IF YOU PAY FOR IT.
Too late, My versa 3 is on its way back as we speak - right along with every single versa 3 accessory that I purchased. Actually hated the thought of having to get an Apple Watch, but oh well... I need non-subscription music While I exercise and go about my day. I really did try to stick it out; but I just can’t be bothered with doing business with a company that cares nothing about its customers (Apple doesn’t care either, but at least their products are top notch).
@LizzyFitbit how many comments are needed for this? I think the strength of feeling should be considered too. Feels like no-one is listening. I would say this should potentially be in a complaints thread rather than feature suggestions given that it is a feature that has been removed for no obvious reason.
If you can just advise on where this is in terms of priority or consideration it would be great.
Was planning to upgrade my Ionic to a Versa 3 after hearing that it would include the GPS feature, fortunately I found out that I couldn’t store and play my own music on a versa 3. GPS and own music storage were the two main draws for the Ionic. Shame that Fitbit can’t offer the same functions with the newer products. Will be sticking with my Ionic now.
I've had the Versa 2 for two years, and I've been satisfied with it most of the time. Considering that the Versa 3 has GPS I bought this version a few days ago, I received it today with disappointment to realize that I cannot store my music on the device. I will return it tomorrow.
Hi and yup; I did the reverse. Being a longtime owner of the charge 3, I went straight for the versa 3. It is truly an amazing watch (or so I thought...). Very sadly, the one missing component is an absolute deal breaker for me: no onboard music. I tried to be patient with fit; monitored the angry reviews and their we-don’t-care responses (or lack thereof). After it became totally apparent that fitbit it google or whoever they are now, was not going to add this feature to the versa 3, I returned it and I am now the semi-proud owner of a fitbit versa 2.
Please add this feature to Fitbit Sense. It does not make sense to force people to make other subscriptions in order to enjoy one of the promised features of the product!!
I am extremely disappointed about the music features of the Versa 3. I bought with the goal of running without my phone. I would return this product if it were easy at this point.
@Fitbit when are we going to get an answer of when own music storage will be possible ? Ridiculous that you put out a watch without this. Please update forward to allow for this.
I’ve only had an Alta but having started running for 2 years I really want to upgrade. I thought I’d stay with Fitbit because I really like my experience, the app and the fact my children have them so they’re synced. Just realised you can’t listen to music! I really wanted to not take my phone with me so it looks like I’d be better with the Apple series 3 instead of the newest model Fitbit. That’s really disappointing and I’ll be sad to change but music is an important feature for me. If things change by the end of February then I’ll reconsider but it doesn’t look like anyone at Fitbit is listening does it?
This seems to me more like a complaint issue rather than a "feature suggestion". Lots of people very unhappy. I would suggest everyone starts tweeting the @Fitbit and @fitbitsupport accounts to try and get a response. Include the link to this thread. Can't hurt can it!
I will not be recommending this device (Versa 3) to other people without the ability to store my own music. Music listening is advertised heavily and I did a fair amount of research. It is obvious most people assumed this would just be carried over since it already existed. It was more likely more work to REMOVE a previous feature then just let it remain. I might try the older model of Versa 2 or give up on fitbit completely. I was excited to work out with music stored locally on my Fitbit and to boot it was a newer model. I never thought fitbit would take a feature and remove it and advertise it as progress.
