Next generation Alta HR/Alta with altimeter (stair counter)

I own a Charge HR because I really wanted to track heart rate but I originally bought the One so that I could discretely track my steps. The Charge HR is anything but discrete and I really don't like big wearable tech, especially ones that shout "I TRACK MY STEPS". More importantly, I always wear an analog watch and wearing two watches is just dumb.

When the Charge 2 was released I was really looking forward to updating my Charge HR, but the display is massive and looks stupid on my small wrists. Then I was beyond excited to hear about the Alta HR. My boyfriend was just about to order it for me as a gift until I saw they don't track floors so I had to call him in a panic saying "DO NOT ORDER - No floors climbed = No deal"! Thanks but no thanks. Man Sad

I understand that there are size limitations for what features can be included but please can you create a sleek/slim tracker like the Alta HR and Charge 2 put together that we don't have to be embarrassed about wearing? (Yes, I've had multiple times when I've gone out and got the "are you actually going to wear that?" in reference to my Fitbit). Something with sleep tracking, floors climbed, interchangeable bands, and small. Text/call notifications would also be nice 🙂

Hi @MarcelBK I appreciate you need to categorise similar suggestions together so it’s fine to put my comment here, and I’ve liked the post. However from the comments I’m reading, everyone here wants the altimeter to count floors. I don’t care about that at all, my suggestion is the multi sport mode being included on the Alta. You know better than me so maybe it amounts to the same thing.. but this is why I didn’t originally comment this post. I don’t need the new Alta to count stairs, bring on multi sport! 🤷🏼‍:female_sign: Thanks x

Hope Fitbit is listening, so many want the stair counting on the Alta.

I just received the Alta HR as a gift and a replacement for the Charge HR, which had broken. I was disappointed and surprised there was no altimeter, as my 3-story home requires lots of running up and down stairs and I wanted to track that specifically. And like others, I liked the slim design of the Alta, and was hoping to have the option to add stair tracking to regular step count (I couldn't care less about resting heart rate at this moment). Thanks very much.

Yes, I live in the mountains and would love to know how many stairs I
climb, relatively speaking.

I know this thread is old and the feature isn't planned (probably because they're not making the Alta or Alta HR anymore) but I wanted to say that I've waited exactly another 2 years (from when the Alta HR was released) for this feature to be added and yet the new Inspire and Inspire HR STILL do not have this feature. I feel a bit betrayed on multiple fronts...

I was extremely excited to see the announcement of the release of the Inspire HR!  I thought ‘this is it ...’ and now I am flabbergasted that the Inspire HR does NOT count flights.  Why not??  I went from excited to highly disappointed in about 5 minutes.  While I love my “One” (which I still have), I would happily purchase a new Fitbit product that was smaller than the Charge and monitored heart rate *if* it counted flights.  Luckily, my One keeps on ticking, and I have my husband’s One as a back up in the event of loss or failure.  I’m sorry Fitbit, but I won’t be buying the new Inspire.

I too, was excited to see the announcement of the new product.  Yea... Fit Bit has lost my business.... I am moving on to something that does what I want it to do and it won't be FitBit. Hasta Fit Bit.... 👋🏻

Also very disappointed. Many people have expressed interest in floor counting. Fitbit has lost my business, actively looking at Smart Watches now and will not consider Fitbit since they clearly do not take our feedback into consideration. Luckily I also have my old One back, but will not replace either Alta HR or One with a product from a company that does not care about consumer opinion.

Eventually my Alta HR will wear out and I doubt I'll move on to a big, clunky, and cheaper (read: plastic) design.

Bring back the Alta HR tracker. There is no good option for those who want a fitness tracker, but still want to wear other jewelry when they’re not exercising i.e wear other bracelets on the same wrist. Appearance outside of exercising is important buyers, especially if one of the main selling features is that it can be worn all day every day.

My idea is for a new device. This new Fitbit would be minimalist in nature. However it would have all the sensors required to track everything, like an Alta HR. Can be worn during contact sports, has no display, all info handled by the app. I don't need to wear two watches. I don't want to replace my Rolex, but do want to track my fitness.

My Alta HR is on the fritz and I was really disappointed to see the Inspire is the skinniest option you have available. I really don't want to wear something as clunky as even the Insiprie. Please consider adding a design like the Alta back into rotation. I really like its sleek continuous design which none of your trackers right now have.
