It would be nice if you had the option that when your tracker recognizes you are asleep, that notifications are disabled. That way you are not awaken in the middle of the night by a text message that could have waited until morning.
Come on, Fitbit...implement an option to automatically turn off Quick View during your target sleep schedule. You can have it sync with the preferred sleep time each user inputs in their Sleep Goals settings.
This is a no-brainer. Why do you want to keep people (and their spouses) from resting peacefully? No one wants a bright light in their face when they go to sleep at night.
I actually started taking my watch off at night because it's so annoying to toggle on/off the Quick View setting twice a day. It's sad that you're spending so much time with new sleep tracking efforts, and you haven't stopped to make this simple little update. It's been years that we've been asking for this!
It's not just the quick view that's an issue. That's been disabled since I got it but if you tap the screen it'll still turn on. It needs to lock while sleeping!
I have a Fitbit Alta with my Nexus 5x running Android 7.1.2. Phone is on DND not allowing any calls, yet I was just woken up by a call. This has happened several times over the course of about a year now, and it's getting really old.
At the very least, you should be able to turn off quick view from the watch itself, instead of having to go into settings within your phone app and then sync (which seems like too many steps for something seemingly simple)
A feature that allows you to set a do not disturb on notifications for a certain time period so it doesn't have to be turned off every night or at time you don't want them on.
I woke up my little boy last night with the light on my first day's use and threw it on the ground. At least as a parent of a young child, I don't have the problem of ever going to the movies or a play. I concur with everyone else here about the need to immediately toggle off the light. For now, goodbye, quick view. I hardly knew ye.
This has been an issue/complaint for a while now. I get the button press issue another person posted but I can honestly say I doubt I ever did this. Now, the display does come on for me at times because of the 'tapping' to turn the display on. Annoying no matter what the scenario.
IMO, this is NOT heavy lifting. With a few hundred likes for this one thread (there are multiple for this display issue and assuming MANY more who simply never come here to comment) if I was managing the development I would set the time aside just to get this off the list and make paying customers happy (and yes, I can appreciate they have dozens of other problems and enhancement requests). Why? Because Fitbit touts the fact they track sleep. And the display is a PITA for a lot of customers when sleeping, so it's a conflict resolution priority. See?!
Options:
> Display Normal (all normal actions will turn display on)
> Display Partial Off During Sleep Times (Quick View and tapping inactive, button press active)
> Display Full Off During Sleep Times (QuickView, tapping and button press inactive. Note that holding the button for 3 seconds in this mode will turn the display on momentarily.)
Easy peasy. Addresses all scenarios. The last one with the long press at least lets the customer see the display if they happen to be late to bed or early to rise!
@holistic_steph Hey, Fitbit has my contact info. My rates are cheap.
I do this sort of thing for my day job. Working on web/mobile applications for user interface and user experience as well as the functionality.
Companies nowadays claim they want to "be the best" or the next Apple, but are not willing to invest in the effort to sweat the small stuff. Yes, the small stuff is important. Oh well.
@TRON8888 You are totaly right! This doesn't have to take so long to fix, I don't know why this problem isn't solved yet. Your solutions are 100% how it should be! Hope they read all the comments in this support forum.
When I move in the night, the watch display illuminates. It is surprisingly bright and wakes me up more than I was already. I think it is a great idea to have a setting to stop this from happening. I have also seen other comments in the community where people have said the same thing.
your Alta should obey DND. check that your firmware is up to date.
of course its a fitbit fault if somehow your firmware hasn't updated for over a year... more likely is that fitbit in their usual way just haven't actually made this work on android which is treated as a 2nd class user group in the fitbit world.
no indication that i can find of anything around this for my charge 2 though 😞
The last firmware update was months ago, while bugs in the app got fixed straight away.
I posted this in the german suggestion board a while ago, where no-one from FitBit seems to care that this is the #1 request.
Now I see that it's the same thing here.
I'm not wearing my Charge 2 at night anymore, because even with quick view disabled, it keeps turning on when my movements are detected as double-tab gesture, keeping me and my wife awake at night. It's a shame, really.
+1 with the issue...It can be as either sleep mode, or as an activity (I dont think people use all 7 activities) so it can be nice one for sleeping mode, which could turn off the quick view and start tracking the sleep. That, or as It is said in here...a schedule you could program would be nice!
My problem is the exact opposite - I WANT texts/calls when my phone is in DND mode. My phone is a Moto Z Force Droid and you can turn DND on just by putting it face-down on a surface - very useful for meetings etc when I don't want all my app notifications (my coworkers don't need to know how many facebook notfications I get LOL). However when that is the case I don't get call/text notifications on my Alta, so if my daughter's daycare calls with an emergency I don't get the call until I look at my phone again. Can there be an option to receive notifications if DND is on? I understand that people want to be able to sleep so it makes sense for notifications to be off when DND is on, but I'd like an override feature for my situation (I sleep like the dead so even if I get notifications in the middle of the night they won't wake me up).
+1. This is an essential feature for me to use it to track my sleep. Turning Quick View on and off in the app everyday doesn't make sense. Otherwise I will simply put my Charge 2 off my wrist before I go to sleep.
I was about to include the same request Other trackers have a *do not disturb Mode* like the iPhone. Miband from Xiaomi includes it and it was pretty useful!
I would also love to toggle Quick View on & off dirctly from my Charge2. I dislike having to go to the settings in the app every night & morning to update this setting. Light bothers me at night & i toss & turn a lot. The fitbit display Is xtremely bright in the darkness.
It would be nice to still get notifications with do not disturb, but without the vibration alert, to make it different from turning off notifications on the blaze itself.
I think it would be a good idea to disable notifications while the phone is in DND mode or while the flex2 senses it is in sleep mode. Its not a lot of fun when you get a vibrating sensation on your wrist when you don't want to be woken up. The last thing I want to remember is turn off my notifications before I go to sleep.
