Option to disable 'Water lock'

Many folks are reporting that water lock comes on when not desired. I experience this multiple times a day with my brand new Inspire 2. I do not even have Swim set as an exercise and I don't need or want the water lock function. If the button issue cannot be easily fixed, a simple solution is an option in Settings to disable the function.

Yes, please have a setting to disable the water lock feature. I don't swim and wouldn't wear it in the water.

I give up I put it into the clip on and it's still going across the screen

Thanks to all of you who formerly posted about Water Lock, I now realize it's a glitch in this Inspire 2 that I purchased and set up today! A very annoying glitch! And Windy Jogger's post, lets me know that removing it from my wrist and putting it into a clip won't solve the problem... Has anyone figured how to disable it -- it's definitely NOT a feature I would miss.

Ditto to all. This is the only thing I don't like about my new inspire 2. Hope it can be resolved with a software update

Hi!  My water lock feature must go off 15 times a day too.   Mostly when I bend my wrist.  It used to do same to DND before latest firmware update.  Agreed Fitbit needs to disable this feature.   Plus stop it from happening to other features which might replace it.  Other than that, I am very happy with my Inspire 2.

Had the inspire 2 for 2 days and already want to hit it with a hammer! That bloody water lock!!! I don’t swim, I don’t wear it in the Bath/shower or when washing up or baking. It turns on when I’m just...

walking out of the bedroom (water lock?)

walking upstairs (water lock?)

opening a cupboard (water lock?)

putting on the dog’s lead (water lock?)

etcetera, etcetera!
please, please, please give us the option to opt out!!!!!

I have previously had a Fitbit Alta and loved it but thought I would upgrade and try the inspire 2 HR and sleep mode. My Fitbit Alta I have had for 5 years and because of its age, I found I had to recharge it about every 4 days. I read feedback on Inspire 2 and was intrigued with the responses so I decided to purchase it. I find that the water lock is constantly engaging on it when I am not even around water and my battery only lasts about 2-3 days before I have to recharge it. I don't know if this has to do with the water lock feature constantly turning off and on. I have just read numerous complaints in regards to this feature and took the advice of moving the band higher up on the wrist. This has not helped at all. Very disappointed in my new Inspire 2 device and wish we were able to turn this feature off.

Can you be patient with the fitbit team?
There are always comments about problems and they are very busy.

Respectfully, I think consumers are being very patient. I've found complaints on this forum about the water lock feature as far back as October 2020. I think when you pay nearly $100 for a product it's fair to expect it will work. I purchased mine for 2 main features- the step counter and sleep monitor- but I can't wear it to bed because the water lock vibrates throughout the night. I think it would go a long way if the company acknowledged the product defect rather suggesting that you move it farther up your wrist.

The water lock only locked once on me. Sometimes it shows on the screen but if I don't touch the screen and only touch the sides it goes back to the clock face. It doesn't bother me at night.

This Waterlock thing is driving me nuts! Please update so it can be turned off. Every freaking time I move my hand it goes off.

Please please please add the feature to disable Water Lock. Not only does the option pop up without warning multiple times a day and wake me up at night, it has also begun going into Water Lock without me even selecting it. It's gotten so frustrating I've even begun looking for a tracker from another company. I tried working with a support person about an hour ago and it was worse than a waste of time because the problems with this thing got worse after all his instructions and I'm still waiting for an email from you guys about applying for a replacement since other features have stopped working completely.

Water lock is ridiculous and constantly setting for absolutely no reason. It stops me getting notifications about calls and texts and totally messes up my step count. It renders the fitbit completely useless and unless you give us the option to turn this off very soon I shall be returning my fitbit and never buying another.

I agree. I’ve only had mine two days and it’s driving me mad. Thought I needed to sort something in settings to fix it but seems not after seeing so many comments from others having this same issue. An option to disable would be brilliant

I agree with all the previous comments that Water Lock on the Inspire 2 is at this point a bug, not a feature! Water Lock is every bit as annoying as the DND function was previously. It turns on constantly. Water Lock should definitely have an option to disable. I have used Fitbit devices for 7 years and I was completely satisfied with my Alta HR until it finally died. This is my second Inspire 2 (first had to be replaced) and my experience with it has not been positive. I also have started researching other brands because a fitness tracker should be a useful tool, not a source of such frustration!

We're all sharing our frustrations and ideas but is anyone from Fitbit reading these? Is there any hope that water lock will be disabled or should we start an online & social media campaign letting the public -- especially those considering a Leisure 2--know NOT to purchase this but to buy from another distributer

I will never swim with this on. I don’t wear it in the shower. It pops up constantly and is super annoying. Please make this an option for users. I would give a lot to turn it off right now.

I absolutely HATE my Inspire 2 because of this water lock feature. I don't swim but the **ahem** thing goes off ten to eleven times a day. I've had multiple Fitbit products and loved them all. Please make this an option so I can turn the stupid thing off.

I agree! I hate water lock when I'm working out and can't see my pace. Even worse, when it's "locked" it will pause my tracker/timer of my workout. I miss the button on my old Inspire. Please allow for disabling automatic water lock AND have a feature that will actually lock the timer so my workout is accurately recorded. I understand sliding the fitbit back on the wrist and making it looser is supposed to help but it doesn't.

Just received my Inspire 2 as a gift, and I can tell the water lock is going to be an issue. I agree, please add an option to disable this feature.

This situation appears to have been going on for months and, despite all these comments, nothing has been done.  Please add an option to disable water lock.

I can’t take this anymore! Water lock is constantly turning on for no reason. I turn it off and it just turns back on again. I miss notifications of texts and calls and my activities are either not being recorded or recorded incorrectly. This is absolutely not fit for purpose and I’m going to return it (although right now I feel like binning it !) I absolutely unreservedly hate it ! Absolute rubbish
