Many countries favour using Kilojoules instead of calouries for enrgy input and output. Please add the option to choose in all relevent dashboard areas.
Re kilojoules as well as calories. If you sell in countries which use the metric system you should provide the option to use metric. It did not occur to me that you did not, and now I feel that I have wasted my money. There are many other food counters online that do that as a matter of course. Why not Fitbit? Not sure how to vote, but I would if I could.
Why is this "feature' (read essential for anyone outside the US) being ignored? It is a simple bit of coding with no reason not to implement. The Aussie food database is full of irrelevant yank food not available here ( wouldn't eat it if it was). Why was the selectable screen replaced with a watch face? It is supposed to be a fitness device not a bloody watch.
I am surprised this is not an option. I have had my Alta for almost a year now and have only decided today to track my food intake as I was only tracking steps until now.
I don't want to use MFP as easy and as accurate as it has been in the past, it is taking up extra memory on my device that I shouldn't need to be doing when I have the Fitbit app, so that is a problem for me.
After taking some barcode reads the Alta is inaccurate, coming up with different varieties of the same product or not finding the particular product I am using. Another problem for me.
Come on Fitbit! I had high expectations this morning and now I feel let down.
I would also like to see this option as it can be quite time consuming looking up and converting our kilojoules weight and measures into calories then adding to meals. sometimes want to make you give up.
I can't believe that a big company can just ignore their patrons. This has been going on for a number of years and many comments and still nothing being done. Why does something so important take so long to be attended too.It does make it very difficult to work out what the food intake is. My dietician has suggest that I eat so many kilojoules a day I have to then convert it to cal. and likewise with all my food.
Please Fitbit your popularity is increasing but if your not careful it will decrease as fast as it is growing because we can only make these suggestions as you suggested but know you need to work on them and make improvements.
Fitbit is popular in Australia. I imagine it would be fantastic were it not the fact that calories are meaningless to us, so we must use calculators or get another product. With technology as it is I cannot imagine this would be difficult to do. Perhaps the Americans are hoping that the other 95% of the world's population will change back to imperial. That is as likely as deciding to return to the stone age. Come on Fitbit - "get with the programme"!
They may have some sort of deal with My Fitness Pal - can't think of any other explanation, although if there is one $$$$ will surely be involved.
Yet another example of the consumer losing out to greed for the almighty dollar.
What they don't realise is if they don't listen to the consumer they'll lose out in the long run - won't be upgrading with Fitbit unless kJ is included, that's for sure.
Yet another request for this please. Bought it yesterday, would love to have this as a simple switch so that I can put food in as it is displayed everywhere here
Anyone in Australia who is not happy with this or would not have bought it knowing this feature is not available should take their Fitbit back for a full refund no questions asked. We are all covered by the ACCC which will allow a full refund on this item.
Not only is it trivial to add a kJ option (which begs the question "why hasn't this been done yet?"), but in fact the calories section is questionable because "calories" with a lower case "c" is also incorrect. A nutritional ("large") Calorie is actually a kilocalorie, or 1000cal. Unfortunately the FitBit app uses the small calorie (with a lower case "c") when it in fact means Calorie........... My FitBit is therefore telling me, if taken at face value, that I have burned 1/1000 of what it "thinks" it is telling me!
Surely this feature has been added by now. Can fitbit please comment with an update? I can't find a way to change to kj but cals seems very limiting for most of the world!!
If I have only had a fitbit for a week and am asking this question, why has it taken 3 years for it to gain traction and be "reviewed by moderator" , it is as simple as adding a conversion factor into the app to show kilojoules, not that hard.
For countries that use metric units, please provide the option to use kilojoules. I don't like having to use my calculator to work it out every time I add new food.
