Option to turn off step count (or add "Driving Mode") to avoid erroneous steps/floors

I just got home yesterday from a driving 6 hours in my car and I checked my Fitbit. I was really suprised to see it had given me almost 8,000 steps, 3.24 miles, 134 floors, & way more calories thank I burned while I was sitting in my car.  I looked on the forum to see how to easily delete the steps, miles, floors, and calories so my data would be accurate.  The only way people are fixing it is by manually logging the activity "Automobile or light truck (not a semi) driving" and entering in the duration.  I think that is a cumbersome way to fix the issue everytime I drive because I have to make sure I write down what time I get into and out of my car so I know the start time and duration.  And how does it automatically know the calories burned when everyone burns calories when they are sedentary at different rates.

I think they should add a "Drive Mode" feature that when turned on it won't add steps, distance, floors, & will only add calories burned equal to you sitting in a chair.

You could access the "Drive Mode" either on your Fitbit One or on your phone app to turn it on/off.  If you have a Fitbit One you could press the button till the "Drive Mode" icon appears then hold the button down for 2 seconds to turn it on or off.

On the phone apps you would just go to your device under "Account" and there you could turn it on or off.

You could also have the option to give you an alert when you unlock the phone that reminds you that it is in "Drive Mode" so you don't forget to turn it off when you get to your destination.  It would also be cool if you could use Siri to turn it on by saying "Turn on Fitbit Drive Mode" or "Turn off Fitbit Drive Mode".

I miss certain features of the fitbit.

Yep totally agree, using the driving feature is totally pointless, I don't know why fitbit even bothered to add this, it counts as exercise!!! Since when was sitting in a vehicle exercise? I have an exercise goal of 5 days a week, so logging my driving is not a good thing as even on days I have not exercised fitbit tells me I have, so I either have 10,000 extra steps logged that I haven't done or 6 hours of exercise logged when I was sat doing nothing.

I'm moving onto a different tracker as fitbit is completely obsolete as a fitness tracker if you drive.

agreed with adding "un-active for x time" option (So I wont forget to turn it back on) - X could be predefined or defined in the phone app:
Apparently I'm making a lot of steps and nice workout when I'm knitting! 😛

Dont you just love how we as users have to tell fitbit how to do it's job?
We shouldn't have to come up with solutions for a glaring error that's been
pointed out by users for over 10 years now as evidenced by this massively
long thread!! Fix this now fitbit!

I am really disappointed to see that this still hasn't been fixed. I need my Fitbit to accurately show me how many ACTUAL workouts I've done each week. Logging a driving activity to get l fix my steps should NOT count as a workout...

A very simple fix would be to simply add a toggle on each workout that is logged with an option to "remove workout from daily workout total' or something. Every basic tracking app has this kind of an option. Even my FREE budgeting app has it!

For example, if I want to track how many running workouts I have a week, the Fitbit could still log my walking/cycling workouts but I could choose to remove those from my daily workout total so I can quickly see just how many days I've gone for a RUN that week.

Drive mode app on Versa watch itself..NOT on the menu in the app on the phone. Needs to be quick and easy to get to like in the quick settings menu on the watch.

It would be nice if there was a driving Mode that could be activated in quick settings or a pause steps option.

Jordan 70782, scroll to the very top of the page and in the top left corner is a box with a thumbs up and the current number of votes. Tap the thumbs up to vote. It should change colour when you have done it. The number should also increase by one.

You can only vote once. If you tap it again you cancel your vote.

At the top of what page do I have to log in, no thumbs up appears anywhere I have looked,
no vote count? As usual with Fitbit instructions are sorely lacking.

Boogie007 you must be logged in to have left your comment here. On my Android phone I would just scroll right to the very top of this page. The box I mentioned is above the title of the first post. You could try looking at the very top of page 1 of this topic.

Does anyone else have a different display to offer different guidance?

I would like to see a shortcut added to the tracker/watch that allows us to stop tracking/log driving at the touch of a button. having to log driving time on the app or website, or charge it while driving for someone like me that makes dozens of stops a day is very inconvenient. This has been a known problem for years, and has yet to be addressed

I agree. I drive for a living and that fact that it cant distinguish from someone running vs driving 60km/hr astonishes me. But yes, just a simple shortcut on the device itself would save so much time and issues.

I would like the ability to pause the step counter. Many non walking activities really add up the miles/steps, especially if I go out on the motorcycle/snowmachine, etc. I would like to continue to monitor my heart rate and other metrics (partially why I own it), so am not willing to take it off or turn it off (if my Charge 5 could even do so).

Create a 'bumpy ride' mode or 'travel mode' so fitbit knows to tone down cals when im travelling on bumpy roads and not to count bumps in the road as steps as it does now. You do expend higher cals on bumpy roads than sitting as your core is engaged as you lurch up and down so you could mark up resting BMR by a nominal %. Check research.
