Permanent heart rate display during workout

As a workout enthusiast I would like to view my heart rate on my Charge HR throughout my workout without having to hit the side button.  I would like to see an option that can be set to "keep display on during workouts".

Hey esinny,

I have no doubt that the upgrade is coming, but I just bought mine yesterday and have no intention of buying another with the exception of returning this one and buying a different product.  I believe a software fix would be avilable and that is the route I would like to see.

These shortcomings can all be fixed easily with software and firmware upgrades. If Fitbit only addresses them in new devices, it would be a real slap in the face to us existing Customers.

Agree, but when will they fix that ? We're waiting for months for a minor update! BTW, does someone know what the lifecycle of FitBIt updates ?

I just bought the Fitbit thinking I could see my heart rate during work out ALL the time. What an expensive disappointment! Please fix this as soon as possible. Pushing the buttons all the time is no sollution. Thanks!

An obvious oversight in my opinion. Even if the battery life was decreased, a continuous display of heart rate should be an option.

I would love to be able to have the heart rate continously displayed during exercise. I think most people would understand and be Ok with the fact that with the feature the battery won't last as long. Thanks for your consideration!

Absolutely need feature. Basically useless for me without it and am looking for other products that will. Also my heart rate doesn't track well during exercise. Obviously lower then should be readings and if my heart is really going I normally get two dashes.

I find it very difficult to keep track of my heart rate while I'm running / excercising in general.  Its not easy to see your heart rate during a workout. It would be really great if there was an option to show your heart rate on your phone lock screen.  Usually the phone times out and goes dark, but if it were an option to show a small box on the locked screen it would be very nice. Whether I'm running outdoors, on a treadmill or row machine it would be much easier to keep your target heart rate.

Just an idea! Thanks for reading.

I hope Fitbit would reconsider and add this feature soon.

I bought the fitbit precisely for this purpose, and it has no use for me without it. I'll see if I can return it for a refund.

Folks that post, please vote.  I would assume they read the forum, however, the voting feature is for requesting features.  It is the avatar/icon, whatever you want to call it, at the upper left!

Are you getting the message, we need the heart rate monitor to be visible continuously during workout. Get it done kids.

                                    thanks, Dumbell

I'm just waiting for the return authorization to send mine back, and I'll probably order a Mio from Amazon for about the same price. Very disappointing device.

I too want continuous heart rate showing. What a disappointment that it doesn't!

That was the reason for buying a fitbit. I didn't know 😞

Kudos to the idea of constant HR monitoring during exercise. Fitbit please make it happen. The HR choir is getting very loud and strong on this issue.

No response from Fitbit on this issue!  Would love to stay with you but if you choose to ignore the pleas of your customers I'll be moving to Polar soon!  Smiley Sad

Yep I too want this feature. I honestly can't believe it hasn't been added yet! The option to always show would be great. Not on all exercise tho, I think that would chew the battery on a long walk. I'd prefer a triple tap or something like that.

Well, I am really sorry to post that, but I thought that continuous HR logging or recording was a feature.

So anyone interested to buy a HR Charge nearly new (2 days old) before I put it on e-bay ?

I really need a Heart Rate monitor. I had a heart attack and I decide to particpate in a very physical challenge at the beginning of 2017, and I want to push a physical preparation within the next 10 months.

I'm lucky that I usually work out on a treadmill, so I keep my phone app open and have it set for continuous sync. Then at least my phone gives me a continuous heart rate display. However, I do have some major concerns about its reliability. Sometimes it perfectly matches (plus or minus a few beats) the display on my treadmill, and sometimes the discrepancy can be 50-60bpm different. Now, of course, we know that the treadmill's accuracy is poor, but my subjective feel is that, when I'm really pushing it, my heartrate shouldn't suddenly be plummeting on the Fitbit into low fat burn range and be creeping steadily higher into the peak zone on the Treadmill. The treadmill is more subjectively accurate. The last Fitbit Charge HR that I had (before the knob broke off) seemed more accurrate.

Now, I know it's not continuous heart rate, but I hope you are aware that you can set your Fitbit order of display to be Heartrate first. While you are running, you can turn your Fitbitted arm's palm up and then palm down. You'll at least get a momentary HR reading, although doing so imight interfere somewhat with the natural swing of your arm.  At least you don't have to push a button or tap on it: just twist your wrist palm up to palm down (but display still visible). Surely distracting, but better than nothing, unless you are planning on getting rid of the Charge HR altogether.
