Phone notification if I'm not wearing my Fitbit device

My biggest frustration is forgetting I took my Fitbit off and forgetting to put it back on. I can go all day without it on and not realize it.

Fitbit is already paired with my phone - I'd like a notification on my phone if the range of of my Fitbit exceeds a certain distance and the Fitbit has not logged any activity for a period of time.

I believe this would set the product apart from everyone else - the benefits of the product type are pointless if I don't even get to use them.

It would be helpful if you give a option like that alert me if phone is out of range/lost/stolen. If it is available with any 3rd party integration kindly let me know.

Cool idea. Nothing worse than separation anxiety.

My hubby just got an Garmin Vivifit HR and it has a lot of the functionality I would like in my Alta minus the HR. You can ask it it locat your phone, it can Eve's start/stop music and you can answer your phone from it. But having said that it's too bulky for me. Just wish the Alra had better options.

We need more smartwatch functionality in Blaze!!

I would like the opposite notification. Ability to set an alarm on my phone when connectivity to my flex is lost. The clasp on these is just about useless.

Yes! I would also like to have the feature on Charge 2 where the tracker vibrates if it is out of range of the phone!

I have the Blaze and an iPhone.  I would love to see a feature implemented where my watch lets me know when my phone isn't near.  The other direction would be interesting to have as well.  Help me if I leave both at home!

I upgraded from a nabu X to a Charge2 and the feature I miss the most is letting me know when I have walked away from my phone.

It'd be nifty to know if you're out of range of either your phone or Fitbit, so you don't leave without either

I had one of the very first Bluetooth watches and even then it told me when I forgot my phone. I want the app to alert me on the phone if I forget my fit bit and I want my Fitbit to alert me if I forget my phone.

Since my watch is an extension of my phone, I often forget about my phone. I have always my watch with me because is strap to my wrist, but my phone is not.

This feature could be highly helpful.

This thread was started in 2015, are there any plans to implement the feature?  People have phrased it both ways... for me it would be more useful to have my phone tell me when I'm out of range of my watch.  I basically always have them both in close proximity.  This would be a game changer for FitBit functionality.

I too think it would be great to have a warning when the fitbit device and the phone it is connected to go out of range. This would stop you from leaving/losing your phone. Before purchasing a Fitbit Charge 2, I had a simple band that did exactly this and found it extremely usefull. I do not understand why this feature has not already been incorperated as it would be a great selling point.

Never lose your phone or get it stolen. It's a no-brainer and easy feature to add.

I agree this feature would set fitbit apart from other fitness trackers.  I hate when I forget my fitbit on the charger, and you have the bonus feature that it could let you know if you left your phone behind.  Honestly I have forgotten my phone more than my fitbit since I started wearing it at night too to track my sleep.

Really its a silent alarm on the fitbit and something like the "its time to rest and recharge reminder on the phone!

Please?

Great idea - let's have it for a end of year release as a present to us all?

I would really like this feature of alerting me when my fitbit charge2 loses the pairing with my phone in case I've left my phone behind.  This is one of the top features I'm looking for in a wearable.

I have seen that many others have the problem that their FitBit disconnects  from phone. For $200 I want to be able to depend on my device (for example I was waiting for a phone call and wasn't worried about having to hold my phone for half  an hour (I have trouble hearing it Ring,) because I had my Blaze on...except that it became disconnected and I missed and I misses the call.) My phone doesnt even tell me unless I open th Bluetooth settings. I wiuld lime a notification on my Blaze letting me know my connection status.

It would also be nice to see signal strength, too!!

Thanks, Yes! I should have added that. Also, I am 62 and I can barely see the chg icon on the Blaze screen. Also just found out that device does not automatically track all sleep. I find the live advertising on HSN to be very misleading. Sleep tracking was a priority for me. I know you can you add or track manually, but have apnea  I need the detail.  And, haha, found I walk a ALOT of steps when sitting in rocking chair!  I guess no way to avoid that as I cant remove it every-time I sit for 5 mins.

Also disappointed that you have to remove Fitbit from strap to chg as its not that easy and because I leave it connectes to phone I have to charge it at least once a day.  I purchased chgr from Amazon for $8 that lets me leave strap on to chg, why doesnt the Blaze just come with that style? Really questioning what Im etting for almost $200. Although I am complaining a bit, these issues are all development opportunities.

Hi @thomasthechan and commenters, thanks for sharing this suggestion. It's obviously pretty popular. Our development team and engineers are interested in helping to remind you to put your Fitbit back on - but it can be a difficult problem to solve! One of the challenges is striking a balance between helpful reminders and annoyed (or too many) notifications to wear your Fitbit!

For example, you had mentioned a notification on your phone if your Fitbit exceeds a certain distance from your phone and your Fitbit has not logged any activity for a period of time. What would be a reasonable distance be and what would be a reasonable level of activity and time be for your Fitbit not being active?

What are the scenarios where you tend to take off your Fitbit and forget to put it back on? eg. taking a shower, charging it...?

Maybe we can rephrase the question to 'How can we help you to remember to wear your Fitbit'? Is it emails or push notifications or something else...

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Me, I forget to put my fitbit on after it's charging, or if I move it to my sweatpants or whatever.  I've also lost a couple by having them fall off outside, and it would be great to find this out at the time instead of last thing at night.

My ideal app would let you set a time range when the fitbit is expected to be close by. F'rinstance, from 8am to 10 pm weekdays, noon-midnight weekends. Many apps have time controls like this.

THIS WOULD BE MY NO 1 FEATURE! I get so annoyed when I forget my Fitbit after leaving it to charge or not putting t back on after a shower. This can be a software app feature for all Fitbit devices. When your phone disconnects the device from Bluetooth, the app brings up a notification ‘Have you forgot your Fitbit?’

PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
