Phone notification if I'm not wearing my Fitbit device

My biggest frustration is forgetting I took my Fitbit off and forgetting to put it back on. I can go all day without it on and not realize it.

Fitbit is already paired with my phone - I'd like a notification on my phone if the range of of my Fitbit exceeds a certain distance and the Fitbit has not logged any activity for a period of time.

I believe this would set the product apart from everyone else - the benefits of the product type are pointless if I don't even get to use them.

Have still an Pebble and that is one of the most useful features, want to switch to an Fitbit Versa and it would be nice to have that feature there too. It would be enough to have an Developer Interface to check if there is still an BT connection or not, as I program my Watchfaces by myself.

But in the Watch, as I forget more my Phone on the Desk than my Watch on my Hand... 😉

In response to @LizFitbit

I thought of this idea when seeing devices you can get in your local petrol station for say £4.99

I think the best option would be where you can opt in/out to either of your questions in the settings.

For me is charging is where I forget my device.

I need to have my charge2 on my wrist at night due to sleep apnea where I like to see how bad a night I have had (although I can summarise when if I'm tired or not)

So I think as soon as out of range it should prompt you unless you opt out

Happy to discuss further (I too have put this suggestion forward on here and to your advisor Lyn R case # 24316038)

Look forward to hearing from you

Hello!

I hope my request can be associated with  @thomasthechan's request... If not so, please @LizFitbit let me know if I have to create a new feature request. Thank you.

All previous replies are about to avoid to forget to put on the Fitbit... I would like to forget my mobile on the car or at home! 🙂

So I would like to have a notification on my Fitbit when bluetooth connection with my mobile is lost.

Replying to @LizFitbit, for me is not about exceeded distance between mobile and my Fitbit. Just when the Fitbit lost Bluetooth connection could be enough.

I know that this feature exists on competitor's devices 🙂

Thank you.

Also to add I just bought some goji wireless headphones, these tell me when my phone is in and out of range (voice notifications not just music plays or it doesn't) these headphones we're £20 100 cheaper than the fitbit cost when new at the time

It clearly is possible to but seems noone at fitbit wants their name on the line when all these people keep complaining when they forget the device that they have purchased to be on their person at all times... If one person's complains of a notification then they should be asked to return fitbit device.

I would really like the feature of alerting me when my fitbit charge2 loses the pairing with my phone in case I've left my phone behind.  This is one of the top features I'm looking for in a wearable.

There are many requests for this feature under the similar feature request for an alarm on the phone so you don't forget to put on your fitbit.

Many people were looking for the alarm on their fitbit to detect when they left their phone somewhere like this post:

How many times do people put their phone down somewhere and forget to take it with them?

Include a Settings option that causes an Alarm when the FitBit and the phone it is paired with lose contact.

That will remind users to pick up their phone and take it with them, resulting in fewer lost phones.

Love the versa, hate the fact that there is no vibration alerting me that  I forgot my phone!!

I love too. I have bought it, but I have returned back to the shop, due to this missing feature.

For me is essential!

Yeah, me too.  Not sure what the problem is with getting this app built for the Versa.  C'mon Fitbit!!!  I just spent $200 bucks on a tracker with a bunch of stuff I don't need.  But what I do need is the phone out-of-range alert, and am considering returning it because this feature is missing...

Hi Fitbit,

Can you guys please make this happen soon? Is there any ETA? I have the charge2 and it's the same thing, no alerting on the disconnect.

Yes please! It should not be that hard and lots of devices now have this feature... Having the 2 way notification, the Fitbit notify the wearer when phone is out of range and the phone notify the user when Fitbit is left behind, would be a very useful feature. This would not only make the Fitbit device feel smarter, but would also encourage people wear it everyday, throughout the day. No one wants to leave either phone or Fitbit behind by mistake.

I haven't tried any of the other Fitbit, but my ionac and versa tell me that they have lost connection with a simple.vibration.

Versa doesn't come with that option. Did you install an app?

No I did not install it, but with the latest Versa update, I  notice a buzz on the wrist when I walk away from the phone. Now since BT 4.0 has a range of 50 or more feet, depending on the environment, it is possible that the buzz might not happen until the user is 50-100 feet away.

Whith BT 5.0 being released shortly, this could be up to a 150 feet before being notified.

Update, I thought i noticed it on the ionic, turning BT off on the phone did not provide a buzz, like the ionic would have.

Thanks! I'll have to verify what BT version my Versa is. Yep I forgot it
today!!!! So annoying. 😣 I would like an image of a phone to pop up on
my Versa and an image of a watch to pop up on my phone when they are out of
range...

All I get is a vibration, all other vibrations give me a message on the versa.

No popup and I assume it is loss of phone contact.

Great topic!

It'll be great if the alarm is both ways.

When distance between phone and fitbit is too far or connection is lost.

Should alarm both device, so that we don't forget or lose none of them.

Thank you,

Thanks for your interest in this! Please have your friends + family join
in too. The more people that ask, the more likely it will happen. 😀

With the Versa, as soon as I turn off bluetooth the unit vibrates.

This is a great idea.  It is such a valuable feature!

Please implement this feature.

Thank you.

I would love to have the option to have my watch alert me if the Bluetooth connection to my phone is lost. It would be helpful to be able to add an indicator to the watch face that shows whether or not you are currently connected to your phone.

A good idea. Geo fencing would be a good idea as would using the inertia sensors

Would also like to see an app for versa to find my phone when its lost.  Had that on my samsung smart watch and used it often!

I would like it to alert me (by vibrating and a message) if I lose my Bluetooth connection. Most likely if I lose the connection it means I just left home and my phone is still in the house (or I misplaced it somewhere and I'm walking away from it).

I had this exact feature on my Samsung Gear Fit 2. This feature was nice in that I knew immediately whether my phone and smartwatch were linked instead of having to wait for a notification or checking through the fitbit app. It did help to know that I had left my phone at the house. I actually dropped my phone once while outside and only knew because my watch vibrated to say I was out of range.
