Pokemon Go and Fitbit Integration

With Pokémon Go's release, it would be great to see that Fitbit, the authority in wearable fitness trackers and the app Pokémon Go which encourages its players to walk around and discover the world using their feet, join forces for a better you. Hitting your goals and catching your beloved Pokémon, is there anything else better than that? Whenever you reach your Fitbit goal, you'll get a little in-game item for Pokémon go. Pokémon related badges will also add spice to your collection of badges. You can brag it off to your friends as a sort of badge that you and Pokémon accomplished.

I think this would be a very good move for Fitbit since they have been the forerunner in the wearable fitness trackers industry and with the popularity of Pokémon Go, what better way than 2 giants in the industry joining together. Makes sense right?

Thanks for reading.

Step integration alone would be great, for egg hatching, but with higher end screen systems like Alta and above if we could include the ability to tap to spin Pokestops and/or Catch Mons, in the same manner that the Pokemon Go Plus would, that'd be even cooler. I mean it has no screen and only one button, so... it should be physicaly capable of this, if the software allows.

I understand how unlikely this is but it would be AMAZING if my fitbit kilometers counted for pokemon go. I see the potential for abuse though considering how much easier it is to cheat your fitbit than cheat pokemon go 😞

I think this is a GREAT idea! Especially since the new update is finicky about speed and such, I can't hatch eggs while riding my bike anymore. I average about 20K steps a day, so I could easily hatch multiple eggs a day. Please and thank you Fitbit! ❤️

I would really love this. I currently keep both going at once.

I've been waiting for a Pokemon go Fitbit integration but I can't help feeling it just isn't coming. Especially since the new Pokemon go update has integrated with the apple and android smart watches. Honestly if Fitbit doesn't step up their game and make this Pokemon thing happen I may switch to a product that will support both my desire to track my fitness and my love of Pokemon go.

^^^^ Schwtz I agree with this SO much! Honestly I'd even be happy if they just helped with distance on the new buddy update. More candies is better than nothing!! I think it's sad there hasn't been a partnership here. Plus the majority of my technology is apple related. The switch may happen if they don't integrate.

It just makes sense.

This could have been easily done in the first few weeks of July, but knowing how fitbit development deliver (they just don't), don't expect anything from until *after* PokemonGO is totally dead.

You guys, I think this would be amazing but there's nothing simple or easy about this request. I'm sure fitbit would love pokemon go support, they're already open to 3rd party developers, but this is up to Niantic. Pokemon go is fundamentally a GPS based game. It doesn't make sense for pokemon go to switch to step-based tracking, especially considering the agression with which they're tackling cheating . I think the very best you could hope for is something similar to the pokemon go plus, in which case only fitbits that pair with your phone's GPS like the blaze and charge 2 would work. But there's no incentive for Niantic to agree to develop and support something like this...

The fitbit was never supposed to be a smartwatch, there was never any expectation for fitbits to support outside apps. Pokemon go support would be a huge bonus, but it's first and foremost a fitness tracker. If you want a smartwatch then buy one, or better yet, just buy the $35 pokemon go plus. Some of the negativity here is ridiculous...

AlyZ, Fitbit already uses GPS.  That is how they optionallly map out the path that you walk/hike/run/cycle. Converting that to a distance that Niantic can use should not be that difficult.

At the very least it should allow any of our trackers to sync steps to the game. I have an Alta and an older Charge. That's the biggest thing I need to be able to record because there area  lot of days/times when I sync to the Fitbit App and see how far it says I've walked but then Pokemon Go only shows 1-2 KM because my phone isn't in use for much of the day. Step syncronization should be, at the least, ubiquitous among the Fitbit trackers if Niantic becomes compatible.

I've been thinking this for a long time, fitbit really need to come to some agreement with Niantic fast seeing as the Apple watch has announced pokemon go will be on their watches.

Fitbit's development team is as agile as a my grandmother so this might happen... once pokemon go is dead lol

I can't get my hands on a go plus. I haven't been using my Fitbit as much because ive been just playing Pokemon. I would wear my Fitbit alllll the time If I could sync it with my Pokémon

For the professional that wants to play PGo with the plus device and not look silly in front of clients etc:

Niantic and Nintendo will never think about this because it violates 2 parts of their TOS.
1: no third party software or hardware is allowed.
2 they already made the plus, so why give money to fitbit that they already cash in on now?

Best to just reskin if you want to bother with the plus. No game features will ever be on other hardware not controlled by them.

I agree with Python. Niantic is open to business partnerships but only of they clearly benefit from it. Fitbit brings nothing to them.

I think that it could still work. What if you had to buy a Go Plus app on your FitBit? That git me thinking; what if there was a whole FitBit app store?! What if we got download apps to make exercise more fun!?
