Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

Update the status on this ASAP. This is the most voted on submission that has been "under consideration" for God knows how long. The least you can do while you develop something more thorough is to add a simple checkmark to the period tracking when women are pregnant so their cycle isn't off the whack. It's quite disappointing that such small and easy fix has not been done.

YOU OWE THIS COMMUNITY AN UPDATE, preferably from a person and not a bot.

Adding that I would like not just pregnancy mode but perimenopause mode, hysterectomy mode (if ovaries intact), and menopause mode.  Also I've requested this before - people with injuries or disabilities who need to use mobility aids to walk need to be able to have modes for using crutches, canes, wheelchairs, etc.

We are still waiting for this feature and it has been under consideration for ages. How do we push this through? This could be an amazing way to collect data on the changes women experience during and after pregnancy. Why is this still not being offered or, at the very least, followed-up on?

Honestly. I don’t know if this is even really looked at now that Google
owns FitBit. They’re too busy designing the Pixel Watch and trying to make
FitBit irrelevant to consider this or any other changes.

This request has been active for over 10 years and "under consideration" for 6 years. Fitbit and now Google's lack of attention to a matter that impacts half of the population and the majority of Fitbit device users is sickening. I will not be purchasing devices from Google again because of this.

No idea how to go about that. I'm pregnant again and no change. Apparently
it's too hard to do. It is absolutely crazy

Is Fitbit the least friendly smartwatch for pregnancy? It’s absolutely ridiculous that these ideas have been under consideration for over a decade with no movement. It’s not like other activity-tracking apps and watches haven’t been able to figure this out. In 2023, over 3 million babies were born in the US and that doesn’t include pregnancies that didn’t end in live births. Aside from all the obvious stated problems with the menstrual tracking in the app, you can’t set up a food plan for gaining weight and, once you accidentally set up a food plan only to find out that fact later (thanks for the disclaimer at the end, Fitbit), you can’t delete it! So your whole pregnancy, you get told that you’re over your calorie limit when you’re nowhere close to the ACOG/WHO recommendations and you have to read the fine print to track your own calories.

I cannot recommend Fitbit to any woman. I also find it to be really sketchy and authoritarian that any pregnancy question posted to the community forums is quickly locked by Fitbit moderation, preventing additional comments. They obviously want to shut down any negative feedback, which does not indicate a company with a growth or improvement mindset. At this point, I will replace my Luxe with a Garmin when it reaches the end of its life cycle. It’s frustrating because I like the look of the Luxe and the Google integration, but it’s just not a savvy investment for something that’s essentially a step tracker for me.

Exactly this! I’ve been wishing for it for years now. I’m so tired of it predicting my next cycle. I’ve gone through 2 pregnancies with it and am currently breastfeeding. I went 21 months without a period after becoming pregnant the first time. I couldn’t tell you when the next may happen.

I vote yes to adding in this feature!

Pregnancy affects resting heart rate, respiratory rate, caloric intake, weight gain, activity levels etc.

It would be nice to be able to activate a pregnant mode in the app which is taken into account to evaluate your scores and fitness score.

As a newly pregnant mama, it's incredibly frustrating to not have an option to log my pregnancy in the app. First trimester is ROUGH and I have taken to not wearing my fitbit during it because I feel guilty for not exercising as I used to. This makes me consider cancelling my premium subscription.

I've been a fitbit user for over 6 years, but learning that this feature isn't even on the road map is making me seriously reconsider what tracker is my go to moving forward. Even the ability to add a simple pregnancy test to the period tracker so it doesn't screw up our cycle predictions is a baseline standard expectation. I'm a premium members, but the readiness scores and cardiovascular health metrics are calibrated for not pregnant people, meaning I've paid for something I can't use for 9 months the now because it's assessment of my health is wildly inaccurate when my body is busy doing a natural bodily activity that increases demands on every system.

WHY THE **ahem** CANT I LOG A PREGNANCY. Honestly disappointing and makes my premium subscription pretty useless to me.

Yup why I stopped paying for it. Dumb. 2024 n no pregnancy option and
always saying period is due.

I ended up giving my fitbit to my menopausal mother and switching fully to
garmin. The inability to even pause cycle tracking, when users have been
asking for this feature on a popular upvoted request since 2016, is
disregard bordering on contempt for the needs of their pregnant customers.

I am frustrated that this “vote” started in 2018 and now it is July 2024 and there has been no updates to this within Fitbit! Will they ever listen to us? I am 9 weeks and my watch informed me that my heart rate was a bit high today. Yup…it is gonna be for a while.

This really needs to move forward.

Also better algorithms to predict ovulation. Mine always just goes 2 weeks after my period starts even though my other menstrual tracking app seems to figure out my true cycle.

it really seems very stupid to me that there is no option for pregnancy tracking. The original post is from 2018 and I’m posting this in August of 2024 and there is STILL no pregnancy tracking. Just because it doesn’t make significant difference in how many calories we burn, doesn’t mean it’s not an important health metric. Not to mention, many breastfeeding women do not get a cycle back for months, maybe over a year after birth.
Someone really needs to figure this out because it’s ridiculous that it’s not an option right now.

I don't ever plan on becoming pregnant and my male friends and partner obviously won't ever be able to - but even we all understand that this feature would be incredibly useful. I'm quite surprised you can't, at the very least, tell your FitBit that you're pregnant. It seems like such a basic thing. Similar to having a feature to be able to tell FitBit you've been ill. I've seen FitBit report that I've done exercise when actually I've been fighting off a fever.

I use FitBit to count my calories and, so far, consider it to be quite good. When you're pregnant, you burn twice as many calories as you would normally. Does FitBit even take that into account if it does it's calculation based on your BMR and activity data?

I’m surprised this isn’t a feature yet. With all the political things going on this seems anti life; like why wouldn’t you have that option? Even just a simple toggle that indicates a pregnancy, you don’t have to go into pregnancy details and be an expert. If you’re going to track periods, it should have the option to indicate a pregnancy as well, that’s the whole point of tracking a period. It isn’t just to murder little humans. Let’s see some pro life options for us mamas. Just ask ChatGPT how to do it, if you don’t know how to make a toggle switch indicator.
