Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

Update the Fitbit app so that calories burned in a day accounts for breastfeeding mothers. Breastfeeding mothers can easily burn 200-500 calories a day just by producing milk. Nutrition and water intake necessary to remain healthy would be adjusted too. Have reminders to drink water and how much water. Have reminders for when you need to take vitamins/medications.

Can you please advise if and/or when the pregnancy/breastfeeding feature will be added. I understand that you are saying that it had no effect on anything but with current info in this thread and other threads on same topic, it seems as though being Preggas and breastfeeding is an integral part of ones life at that stage. Please give us mummies and mummies to be an update and also acknowledge it is beneficial for all who have and will continue to comment.

Hi Ladies! So though Fitbit apparently ignores their own forums, they don't ignore Twitter. @FitBitSupport responded in under an hourimage1.PNG

I originally asked the question on Twitter and they told me to post here. And how does being pregnant have no affect on caloric intake? Does this person even know what they're talking about?

Well I have posted to their facebook page.. Maybe they will answer now. I also used @dbanderson1 post about caloric needs for pregnant and lactating women.. Thank you for the great information by the way.

Would love pregnancy and nursing features! I have either been pregnant or nursing or both for the past few years so this would be appreciated!

I would very much like a pregnancy and nursing feature that adjusts for calories.  The best I can do is switch to maintain.  This is not adequate.

I'm shocked and upset that FitBit does not take into account breastfeeding mothers. I burn an extra 500 calories a day nursing my baby. I'm working hard to lose weight, but if I follow the current FitBit guidelines for calorie intake there's a high chance my milk supply will diminish. Weight Watchers takes the needs of breastfeeding moms into account and even sells FitBits, so why doesn't Fitbit account for it? Just bad customer awareness. It would be nice to actually be able to meaningfully use the nutritional settings!

I have had my Fitbit for almost a year now, and so when I found out I was pregnant I was super excited to continue my Fitbit journey and maintain proper health with my child. I was very saddened to find out that the pregnancy setting was removed. I believe the setting would be very beneficial to an entire community of people. Moms are always looking for ways to stay healthy while carrying their children. It would be awesome if this setting was placed back on, I would hate to loose everything I have gained in my journey.

I've had my fitbit for at least 3 years already.  Now that I am breastfeeding I would definitely like this added to the functionality of the device to better calculate calories burned and needed each day.  I am very disappointed to see all the ignored comments.  Seems like an entire community of users is being ignored and perhaps in the future they will think twice about using fitbit as their chosen fitness tracking device.

Tagging on in hopes of keeping this post alive. The orginial Pregnancy Feature was supposed to change our BMR since creating and hosting a second life tends increases our heart rate and burns more calories per day. Having a setting for Pregnancy and even tailoring it to trimester as well as postpartum where we are breast feeding.

With breast feeding (if the calories are burned during the process of feeding a child) then it could be added as an Activity to the Exercise portion of the app. If the actual production of the milk and such increases our overall BMR then that could be adjusted.

Being able to track and change this kind of information in a single app many of us are already using would be phenominal. The original post where the feature had been removed in 2014 had barely any support and yet this one seems to keep being put on the back burner. Being a programmer and living with one I understand that things take time but over a year (and honestly close to 2 years) is a bit over board.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I would like to think that your devices would help a lot of us who like to see the numbers and enjoy being rewarded with our trophies with this small integration so we don't just feel like we're getting no where.

I would really like this feature added. My Fitbit keeps telling me I'm overeating. But in reality I'm nursing and need 300-500 more calories than the average person.... As does any nursing/pumping mom

I just got my fitbit charge 2 for christmas from my husband. I was very dissappointed to learn it used to have a pregnancy setting, but that it was removed because it 'didn't change any data'. So let me highlight why I feel like I can't use my fitbit for a year until I'm done breastfeeing...

1. I'm in my second trimester. It's important for me to take in extra calories to feed my little one. But my fitbit tracker will tell me i'm eating too much.

2. I will gain weight as my baby grows. My fitbit won't like that very much and I wish it knew that it's a good thing and I wish it could track a healthy weight progress through pregnancy.

3. Breastfeeding not only needs extra calories, but it also burns calories! I wish fitbit had its own tracker that I could input how often and how long I breastfeed, and calculate for me how many calories that equals.

As it is now, I'll have to use a pregnancy tracker for the weight gain and breast feeding calculations and hope it's not too much of a pain in the butt to input it into the fitbit. Wouldn't be a pain if you'd just bring back the pregnancy settings.... you'd be helping a large portion of women who are enjoying the beginnings of motherhood.

Please add this feature! It's so frustrating to have Fitbit tell you you've overeaten for the day when you know you need more calories for breastfeeding and milk production. I've seen lots of formulas out there for calculating how many calories you burn each day, but I'm sure someone can find a good one to use within the structure of this app.

I've had my Fitbit Charge HR for two years and just received the Charge 2.  I wish that when entering my personal info--height, weight, etc, that there was a way to incude pregnancy.  I think it would open up some good info, including healthy weight gain, suggested daily activity, calorie requirement changes, etc.

+1 This has been very frustrating. Please implement something for pregnant and nursing women.

I received a fitbit Charge 2 for christmas from my hubby and I'm super excited! We now can have step competitions. I'm in my third trimester right now, baby is getting heavy, everything takes more effort to do. I wish there was a pregnancy setting to tell the device that I'm not constantly in exercise mode according to my heart rate, it's just harder work for me to walk around and do anything. Also, after reading other fustrations from moms and moms-to-be. I probably will not use the calorie  features of my device at all since it doesn't accommidate for pregnant and nursing women needing more food.

Please add back a pregnancy setting!

Hello all, if you have posted here like me, you must have noticed nothing has changed even though many people have posted. We are the only ones listening it seems, there has not been a single response to our requests.  I encourage you all to tweet to Fitbit about this. I will be tweeting to Fitbit using my @farfromthestick twitter handle.  I encourage all of you to join your voices to the thread.

@attully@Qixak I saw you tweeted about this a long time ago, sorry I missed it, I just tweeted about it.  Let's see if we can stir up some solutions.

I know with pregnancy your caloric intake doesn't change much, especially in the first half, but I think I nursing feature would be great since you do burn around 500 extra calories per day.

I agree.  I want to get the most out of my Fitbit.

So I recently purchased a fit bit Alta about a week ago. I am really enjoying it features and reminders to stay active. However I was kind of disappointed when setting up my profile that it did not offer a pregnancy option. I know fit bits are to help individuals stay active and healthy, but that is a huge factor when you become pregnant. I'd like to see a pregnancy option added to the profile set up, then a healthy weight gain plan for my height and current weight for my pregnancy, healthy food option plans for pregnant women, water tracker for pregnant women as we are suppose to intake more fluids and healthy workout options that aren't harmful during my pregnancy. Instead of my Fitbit showing I've gained weight because it doesn't have an option to show I'm expecting, let it show that I'm proceeding through my pregnancy in a healthy manner for me ! Just a suggestion for all of us expecting mothers out there who want to keep track and stay fit through our pregnancy journey!

Please post on Twitter, Fitbit seems to think "reviewed by moderator" is
all they need to do. As you can see on this board, nothing has been
addressed for at least a year.
