Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

There should be a feature in your bio/stats information where you can check if you are pregnant.

You put in your height, weight, sex, etc. You should be able to check a box if you are expecting.

It'd be even better if that information was used to adjust your weight tracking. Minimally it should suspect your weight gain part of fitbit or allow you to adjust your goal for preganacy weight gain.

I would also suggest pregnancy compatibility. I had the thought regarding my weight first... It would be nice to have options for tracking a healthy weight gain. Then I thought it would be nice to have accurate overall goals and tracking that is applicable over all.

And I agree with the nursing info. Love fitbit! Thanks for listening to us. 💗

I agree. Please reinstate and  improve this setting! I would love to see something that helps to track healthy weight gain and keep you on track whilst not making you feel like a failure and that appreciates the changes to things like heart rate and activity levels.

This would be wonderful. Hard to track what or how much I'm producing but I am still nursing my two year old all the time. I would love to be able to accurately track my calories according to my weight loss goals.

Stepping Up
While I am one of the people who wrote in this thread earlier, and I still
do think the pregnancy and nursing modes should be supported, it is not
that hard to work around, people. Yes, fitbit basically says you are fat
when you are pregnant - but you know it's not true, so you can just ignore
that part for nine months. Resting heart rate is good to know, pregnant -
even more important than usually, it can point out to heart problems if too
high. Water intake goal is adjustable, just set it to 2800 ml yourself.
Calorie wise while breastfeeding set "maintain" instead of "lose" - and you
will lose because of those 350-500 calories fitbit does not account for.
That's how I worked around the lack of pregnancy and nursing support,
anyway... maybe there are other tips and tricks to make it work? Fitbit
obviously does not consider pregnant and nursing women important enough to
introduce any features for us. 😞 Might as well make do with what we
already have.

Not sure if it's been suggested bc I wasn't about to look through 318 pages but it would be cool to have an option to enter if you are expecting. I know my resting BPM has steadily increased throughout pregnancy and while my exercise isn't as "strenuous" it should still count with accurate caloric burn/HR info etc. I'm sure there's other important stuff pregnancy affects .. but it also clouds the brain and I'll leave the rest to the experts 😉

Please consider features to allow breastfeeding mothers to accurately incorporate outgoing calories. Breastfeeding mothers make up a significant percentage of your users. We need support in allowing for these calories (often 500 a day) to promote a healthy diet and lifestyle- which is the philosophy of your product.

Please where is the pregnancy setting?

I know that Fitbit is not a medical device.

I know that it's almost impossible for Fitbit to say what's the difference between 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester because each person is different but let's get real.

Pregnant due date is base on the "average " woman's cycle that's 28 days.

Guess what? Not every single woman have that.

So why can't I have a pregnancy mode on my app.

Telling things like.

base on average pregnancy and on your history your hr is not crazy bad.

You are actually burning this amount of calories, cause you're pregnant.

And to whoever doesn't want the setting is very simple.

Dont use it!

Isn't that amazing?

I think that to be fair it shold have the option cause is not everybody opinion the same 😉

Always remember Fitbit is not a medical device people.

thanks 😘

It is long overdue that you add an efffective pregnancy/nursing function so pregnant women aren't being made to feel bad about healthy weight gain and new moms trying to get back in shape aren't always being told they're eating too much!

I love being able to track everything with the fit but app. I feel it should ask if you're breastfeeding. It's difficult to know if I'm over or under my calories for the day. I know other programs like weight watchers offers that option and think it would be great if Fitbit did as well.

I'd like for Fitbit to have a pregnancy setting so I can manage my goals better, such as healthy weight gain and updated calorie settings.

Please add a feature to choose breastfeeding so nursing moms can track calories accurately

Yes please!  I only got my Fitbit because I'm pregnant and was really disappointed to find out that there is no pregnancy setting.

I have a Flex 2 and there doesn't appear to be anywhere in the settings to add pregnancy or nursing. Is that not a feature it can do?

Pregnancy and breastfeeding is a pretty common and important part of many women's lives - this needs to be a feature!

We absolutely need to be able to account for calories burned during breastfeeding. It affects my hunger and I dont know how to log it!!

I would like to see a pregnancy setting. That would allow for a healthy weight gain, heart rate, and other pregnancy related reminders... like did you take your prenatal today? It would help to capture more of my life than what i ate and how many steps i took.

I too think a pregnancy option would be helpful. Though I have a few more ideas than just tracking heart rate. I realize they removed the pregnancy mode option a while ago because it didn't really affect any of the stats, but as I am in my last trimester I keep thinking of all the things that would be helpful for me to track, or use.

1) Healthy weight gain - Fitbit (depending on how one uses theirs) should already have our starting point, height, weight, age etc, and should be able to use the same data a Dr uses, to calculate a healthy weight gain for the nine months, there of course can be the options, for in case some one turns up to have more than one bun in their oven, to add the extra kidlet, this way the "healthy weight gain" range will change with the information provided.

2) Heart rate - Having an "average range" for where our resting heart rate should be while pregnant would be useful, and then for those of us who have the "relax breathing exercise" option on our fitbits we can use that to lower the heart rate if it gets too high.

3) Pregnancy friendly yoga or exercise videos - I love the videos Fitbit already has on my app, and I would love to see something a little more pregnancy friendly added to it. Maybe something with an "office" setting for those of us stuck at a desk all day, things we can do while at work in "5 min or less"

4) The option to have an "alarm" set every day to remind us to take our vitamins, or to drink that extra glass of water.

5) One of the things I'd like to see, is  the calorie tracker change for the increase needed to build the tiny human, as well as feed and nourish the tiny human once it's been evicted.

I think these would also be useful for postpartum, whether a mom is Breastfeeding or Bottlefeeding. Healthy ranges a person should be in for weight loss, heart rate etc.

So far this is all that has come at me, but I'm sure over the next few weeks I'll think of something else to add.

Thanks for your time!

Hi, I agree whole-heartedly with both of these comments made by other moms-to-be. I actually wrote to the Fitbit support team to ask why a huge percentage of Fitbit users, pregnant women and their specific health and fitness tracking details, were not being properly integrated into the app settings and Fitbit hardware itself. They advised me to post a comment here.

I find the the current app and its interface to be discouraging as I progress in my pregnancy.

I too would like to see the app and Fitbit adjusted to help accurately track healthy weight gain, increased calories, reminders for prenatal vitamins and water in-take, less steps and modified excerise (depending on the user as they progress in their pregnancy), disruption to sleep due to hormones and body changes, increased resting heart rate, and post-partum modifications as well.

This is actually a topic that has come up several times on the Babycentre forum chat room I visit. There are many other loyal Fitbit users who are now pregnant and not at all satisfied with their Fitbit, or discouraged by it.

To be blunt, if Apple Watch develops this app and software before Fitbit can accurately accommodate and build into their product a key element for a large section of their user demographic - I would switch. To ignore this element for this demographic, and when we have come so far in the scientific understanding of the differences between pregnant and non-pregnant women, is socially irresponsible and misleading.

Please bring back the pregnancy setting!! I know every woman's pregnancy is different.

Some simple guidelines to make up for the minor adjustments we make during our bun in the oven time, as well as breastfeeding after would be incredible!

I emailed customer service about this issue and was directed here to leave a comment. I have to say, I don't think Fitbit is listening if I have this comment in 2017 and the comments started three years ago. With all the other bells and whistles, this seems like a no brainer. Not only are caloric needs different in pregnancy, but heart rate increases as well. With all the other self-esteem issues that arise in so many pregnant women, I don't think they need to tell me I'm out of shape because my heart rate increased (to a healthy and normal spot).

Hello All,

Clearly Fitbit is not prioritizing the needs of women or women's health issues.  I have been receiving updates when people post here requesting since I put in my request when I got pregnant, 7 months ago.  Please tweet to @fitbit and @fitbitsupport to ask for resolution.  I have been doing it every once in a while.  Our requests are unresolved and the first posts were THREE years ago.
