Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

The basal body temperature logging feature (just adding the number, not even asking to take our internal body temperature) is one of the precursors to this feature that should return to being under consideration. Don’t make me use a different app. It’s just one data point in female health. Clearly the product managers and devs at Fitbit are mostly male if none of these suggestions have gone into effect since first posted. Ignorance is one thing but half the population is female.

Pregnancy alters various recordable bodily outputs including weight, heart rate, period length, even sleep - these all effect long term tracking in an individual's Fitbit data. It would be good to take a temporary hiatus (without needing to stop tracking this data) or alter the device parameters during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Hi @Sticks257, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.

I would like a way to notify Fitbit I’m pregnant. Given my exercise tolerance and resting heart rate are dramatically influenced by my pregnant status, I’d like a way for Fitbit to account for that.

This should absolutely be an available function.  I hope FitBit is able to get something for this area soon.

I will not be buying anymore fitbit products until the pregnancy option is
part of female health. This shouldn't even be up for consideration. It
should have already been added.

Please, please, please adapt certain tracking functions to accommodate pregnant women. Nothing worse than knowing my heart rate, breathing variations and cardio fitness are at "poor" levels for my age, or that my weight is too high. I am creating a new human.

Please, PLEASE allow women to have the option to select pregnancy similar to how they select their symptoms. Women use Fitbit too and this would be a minor change that could really help women track how many weeks they are pregnant (at the very least) rather than the constant reminder you are late for 40 weeks. When the cycles keep going, it affects your average length between periods and your average ovulation date because it is taking into consideration this crazy long time period while you are pregnant and not logging periods. Please help women track this. I want to stay a client/customer of Fitbit, but it seems crazy to allow women to track their period, but not have an option for pregnancy. It is an insensitive oversight in my opinion. You would not need to become an expert in all things maternity, but at least let us stop the period reminders.

Seriously? That request was opened back in 2018, with other requests similar opened as far back as 2014. This is actually somewhat discrimitory toward pregnant women that this isn't even on the road map for Fitbit. Pregnancy isn't a new condition and many women workout during their pregnancy. Not having this on the road map speaks volumes about how Fitbit feels about pregnant women staying fit. This simple setting - which is tracked in several female tracking apps - would set fitbit apart from all other competitors. Pregnant or not, the first watch to come up with this setting will get my overwhelming support. As of today, I refuse to buy any new additional Fitbit hardware and will use my existing hardware.

How do I get off of this thread? It's been long enough since I put in my
suggestion to add a pregnancy/ breastfeeding mode That it's no longer
relevant to me and I'm getting really tired of the almost daily, multiple
daily replies of people with the same request that you're not listening to.
Thank God we have mindfulness now 😒

In the women’s health tracking there isn’t an option to log pregnancy. Once pregnant, not logging periods messes up future predictions & trends. It’d be nice to click “pregnant”, add your due date & receive facts about the stages your in throughout, this would also help fix the trend issues

Hi @Morbragan, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to set pregnancy mode for more accurate data on Menstrual Health Tracking. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.

It looks like this idea is gaining some traction and is under consideration. This is very exciting! I used the female health tracking to get pregnant and was pretty disappointed when I didn't have the option to track my pregnancy through fitbit and to constantly have to hit "Not Yet" on my period. I hope this suggestion continues to gain momentum and we can see some progress soon.

The ability to track pregnancy and breastfeeding would be extremely helpful for women. Given the need to stay active and to also consume more calories while breastfeeding or pregnant, it would be extremely helpful to still be able to use Fitbit easily to do these things. I am kind of surprised that Fitbit does not already have at least a simple way to add in these important details. It makes having a Fitbit while pregnant less useful and, quite honestly, feels a bit archaic - gives the feeling that Fitbit is tailored to men and/or is unconcerned with the experience of women. I know overall that is untrue and it would be great to see Fitbit update their software to account for an experience that half of their users will probably experience at some point.

This has been dragging on for years. This is really not a big deal to add in and crucial considering pregnancy affects your heart rate, activity levels, sleep and I'm sick of being reminded I'm on my period when I'm 7 months pregnant. Fitbit, start taking your female customers seriously.

YES, exactly. It's insulting that such major factors in women's health and
fitness, and so many requests from their customers over the years, have not
resulted in some progress. (And/or no explanation of why it isn't being
done.)

I am in shock that this is still being requested as an additional feature. I have been using fitbit since 2015 and it has been helpful in achieving my goals. It was great when they added the menstrual health tracker, but apparently there are things that have been forgotten in this. Being able to track your fitness and pregnancy it important (obviously to many of us women). Having this option would be helpful. It would be great to not have to use 2 or more different apps to track everything. I remember being excited when fitbit launched the menstrual tracker thinking that I could be able to track everything in one place but as time has continued and life circumstance change it it proving to be wrong. Fitbit needs to step up their game in female tracking options! Being able to track your pregnancy, tracking the gain of weight as being a healthy amount, resting heart rate change, etc.

Fitbit is able to link with the Flo health app but it doesn't allow for information to pass both way. I think it would be beneficial to be able to have everything in one place instead of tracking everything in multiple apps, it gets annoying 😞

It is sexist and lousy that there's no option to mark yourself pregnant. Pregnancy is an essential condition for the continuation of humanity. Why should it be that my fitness tracker thinks I am gaining a ton of weight for no reason? And without this option I need a separate app to track cycles so that my Fitbit doesn't think I have a 9-mo. period

@YojanaFitbit ,

I am sincerely confused by your response. It seems automated. The fact that Fitbit cannot personally respond to something that GREATLY affects women is highly unprofessional.

I am 9 weeks pregnant and stopped wearing my fitbit because it doesn't do much for me anymore. My resting heart rate has sky rocketed due to early pregnancy (58 bpm to 74 bpm) and it is frustrating that this can't be balanced out, especially for my workouts. I love tracking my intensity, now its all off. Not to mention that heart rate is a huge factor in the app for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If it is failing me this early on, I can only imagine it will get worse from here.

Give us a road map, not auto generated responses.

I recently had a miscarriage and as I always log my periods in my Fitbit, I was trying to work out my ovulation and when my next period would be due to come, but as I’d deleted my periods that I hadn’t had during the time I was pregnant, it’s not very easy on the app to work this out.

There needs to be some other options regarding pregnancy test results, or unfortunately to log having had a miscarriage. It’s during these times that you need the simplicity of the tracker.
